You felt Ayato's soft warm lips against yours. It was a moment you wished never to end.
Of course, your first reaction after the kiss was to completely freeze with a face as bright as a strawberry.
"I'm sorry, Y/n. I think I just broke you, but I couldn't help it...you were too cute." Ayato admitted.
The very man you've been obsessed with for several years transferred to your school of all schools, then he became your friend, and now this. He kissed you.
Too good to be true, right?
This was probably some dream, and when you wake up it'll all be back to normal.
"Ayato..." you muttered, "I don't want this dream to end."
He chuckled, "this is not a dream, Y/n," he brushed your hair aside and kissed your forehead.
Not a dream? Impossible.
"Well, you didn't ask my permission before kissing me." You huffed.
"May I kiss you, then?" He asked.
Without hesitation, you nodded.
He chuckled again.
"Stop laughing at me all the time!" You raised your voice ever so slightly.
Instead of responding in words, Ayato pulled you into another kiss.
"Does that make up for it?" He wondered.
"Hmm, for now." You announced.
He frowned, "what's that supposed to mean?"
You didn't respond and moved back to rest your head on his bare chest.
"Goodnight." You muttered sounding half asleep.
Ayato was confused, but went along with it, "goodnight, Y/n."
He moved his arms to tightly warm around you again, and you both fell asleep shortly after.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
You woke up the following morning in shock. You had completely forgotten Ayato was staying at your apartment.
Your first instinct was to back up from him since your face had just been smothered into his chest. You rolled out of his grasp, and in the process fell off your bed. With two people on the bed, space was more limited.
Bang!
You fell on the floor directly on your stomach, "oww..." you whined.
The one thing you didn't want to happen, happened. The loud bang awoke Ayato.
"I, um, I'm sorry!" You said as you saw Ayato peeking down from the bed at the corner of your eye.
"Are you alright?" He asked while he stepped out of bed to help you up.
You went wholly frozen while staring into his eyes.
"Yes, maybe?" You said in a confused tone, "I forgot you were here... and..."
"And?" He repeated.
You closed your eyes and smiled, "I rarely dream, but I had the best dream ever last night." You calmly admitted.
"Are you sure it was just a dream?" Ayato questioned.
You froze.
What does he mean by that... Your thoughts replayed the dream you had last night. Ayato admitted liking you, then kissed you. That was a dream, right?
Right?
The more and more you thought about it, the less dreamlike it felt, and the sudden feel of reality soon hit you.
"It...wasn't a dream?" You asked.
You suddenly felt two arms slither around your waist, pulling you into a hug.
"It was all real," Ayato said quietly.
You quickly moved your arms so your hands covered your mouth. You were desperately trying to hold back squeals.
Ayato let go of you and walked around you to meet your face. You were still in shock.
How could something like this have happened? What are the chances of your celebrity crush falling in love with you?
You felt a warm stream fall from your eyes. You had been so distracted you didn't realize you began to cry.
Ayato's relaxed expression quickly changed with worry, "Y/n what's wrong?"
You tried to wipe away the tears, but only more kept falling, "I'm just... so happy."
His worried then changed to relief, then he pulled you into another hug.
It was the longest hug you ever received. Once you were finally able to stop crying the comforting hug broke apart.
You were still trying to process the fact that this was real. It was no longer a fantasy that replayed in your head.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
After you calmed down, the two of you left the room to go prepare breakfast. It was kept simple, scrambled eggs and toast.
While the two of you were eating breakfast you finally had a moment to check your phone for a response from your best friend.
You had no new notifications.
Maybe Yoimiya was just...super busy? I mean, it's the weekend, so it's expected that McDonald's busier.
"Ayaka wants us to come over after breakfast," Ayato announced.
The boy's voice cut off your thoughts. You set down your phone to pay attention to him. "What about Itto? Isn't he the whole reason why you came here?"
He nodded, "She claims he's calmed down a lot since yesterday."
"Well," you sighed, "I'm going to leave that decision up to you."
You didn't care, either way, so you let Ayato choose. He obviously dislikes Itto, and you didn't want him to get upset again. It had been the first time you'd seen him irritated, and definitely a side of him you'd wish to never see again.
"Hmm, we'll go." Ayato decided.
"Wait, really?" You expected him to decline his sister's request.
He nodded, "I want to check on how the other two are holding up to see if we have to kick out the oni sooner."
The both of you quickly finished up breakfast and then prepared to go back to the Kamisato apartment.
You stared at yourself in the mirror after styling your h/c hair. You put on a bit of makeup as well, which you rarely did. Makeup was something you were never interested in, so you never put an effort to put it on every day. That led to you almost never wearing it.
But today was different. It was a new beginning.
You left the bathroom to find Ayato waiting by the door.
"I called a taxi to pick us up." He informed as you put your shoes on.
Ayato opened the door for you, and after the two of you stepped out he gently grabbed your hand. It caused your heart to skip a beat, but you were able to remain animated and not freeze up like you usually do.
"Um, Ayato," You muttered once you arrived at the street side to await the taxi.
He tilted his head to look at you, "hm?"
"Does this mean we're a couple now?" You nervously asked.
"Yes, it does," Ayato said, then leaned down to kiss you on the forehead.
