❝ NIGHT OF THE LIVING LEFTOVERS ❞

Darkness of a warm, mid spring night engulfed the inside of Gummy's apartment, luminous light from the television screen stealing its viewer's complete attention.

Gummy, (Y/n), Kala, and Harry were perched against the pastel jade couch with adrenaline running through them in response to the exciting music blasting from the speakers.

Harry watched from the middle of the comfy furniture, eyes fixed to the movement against the screen with eagerness dominating his smile. Kala sat beside him, concentration controlling her gaze as she also stared into the screen.

Gummy and (Y/n) admired the TV as the show began from the other side of the cozy green furniture, snuggling into each other's relaxation. Gummy's back was slouched against the rounded pillow, tilted slightly towards Harry so his legs could wrap around (Y/n). His girlfriend was propped up against his chest, his limbs all wrapped around her waist. (Y/n) stretched her legs out, not quite enough to prevent stiffening and just enough to poke Harry, almost snapping him out of the trance the TV was putting him through. She nuzzled the back of her head into Gummy's shoulder, raising her hands to overlap his as she heard an adorable laugh from behind.

"Strap yourselves in - because it's time for another bone breaking, spleen splintering, high impact episode of 'The World's Most Bewildering Unicycle Accidents'!" The enthusiastic voice shouted from within the television, capturing the four friends in excitement with their attention locked into the screen.

Gummy began to bounce his butt up and down against the comfy couch, (Y/n) giggling as the movement shuffled her along. Gummy couldn't hold back his excitement any longer.

"Bam boozie! I love this show so much it hurts!" Gummy cried, smiling with passion, as well as a reaction to his girlfriend's adorable laughter as she snuggled into his chest and shoulder.

"Let's make sure we've got everything we need for a perfect evening of mayhem viewing!" Harry added, reluctantly turning his attention from the flashing screen as he took out a notepad and pen.

"Custom-fit inflatable floofy pillows?" Harry enthusiastically began to read the list scribbled against the slightly creased, lined white paper. Gummy slid a hand from (Y/n)'s waist, slinging it over his shoulder to pull the fluffy, beige pillow from behind his back. He waved it above his head, signalling to Harry that he could tick the first item off the list.

"Check!"

"Individual fingerprint keyed remote controls?" Harry continued his list. Kala smirked as she pulled the shiny silver remote from underneath her seated position. She gestured it to Harry as she cheekily spun it through her fingers.

"Check!"

Kala's smirk grew as she shifted her attention and emerald gaze from the idiots crashing from their unicycles on the TV to her sister.

"Adorable couple - check..." She chuckled to herself, earning two blushing faces from across the cushioned furniture.

"High calorie, artery plugging snack foods?" Harry added, finishing off his list of essential materials for his perfect evening.

Gummy's beaming expression dropped, sudden panic filling his cobalt eyes.

"Um, oops... no check!"

"WHAT!?"

"I guess I got so excited about the show that I forgot to go to the store!" Gummy continued, alarm filling his tone.

Harry quickly slid from his comfortable position against the pastel cyan sofa, inhaling an enormous gasp as he blocked Gummy and (Y/n)'s view of the TV.

"No snacks! What are we gonna do!?" Harry held his head in panic, worry and possible solutions swirling around his mind as his breathing increased with nerves.

"We're gonna starve to death!!" Harry continued, his voice filling with more anxiety and stress as the sentence continued.

"Harry, we'll be fine..." (Y/n) tried to lighten the mood, although Harry continued to think of a possible solution in his muddled up mind.

"Is it too early to suggest cannibalism!?" He blurted out, his panicked gaze staring specifically towards Gummy. (Y/n) looked towards Gummy's nervous expression, then back to Harry with a stern, fixated gaze and a shaking head. (Interruptive author's note - that quote is so cursed...)

Gummy laughed nervously, gently sliding his arms from his girlfriend's waist and legs from above her knees. He jumped from the sofa, wandering towards his kitchen area with a small smile across his face as he tried to convince Harry there would be no need for such a thing...

"I'll just heat up the leftovers from our last TV night!" Gummy cried, his voice sounding more distant as he headed to the kitchen surface.

(Y/n) shuddered at the thought of their previous television evening, but warmly smiled as Gummy tried to soothe the panic of the situation. She always admired that about him - that how no matter what his friends were worried about, or how worried they were, he would always try and wash their fears away.

Gummy happily swung the maroon door to his fridge open, the feeling of freezing air crashing against him. He admired the variety of chilled food that his azure gaze was fixed against.

"Hmm... I'm not quite sure that deep fried tandoori salami fish paste goes good with chunky style peanut butter and creamed corn...

...but, waste not, want not!"

Gummy scooped the said foods from the icy shelves of his refrigerator, plopping them into a nearby bowl in an interesting mix. He slid the bowl into the microwave, happily slamming the miniature door. He crouched his knees to peek through the dim glass as he spun the dials beside it.

"OK... crank the radiation to eleven, and set the timer on... way too long~" Gummy said to himself, satisfaction flowing through his tone.

He activated the microwave, watching with happy anticipation as the bowl spun slowly inside. Gummy cheekily smirked as the sound of humming and feeling of mild heat burst from the golden hue behind the glass.

"Hurry up, Gummy! You're missing the best accidents!" The sound of (Y/n)'s voice instantly caught Gummy's attention, his view spinning from the swirling snacks to his impatient girlfriend. He chuckled as he ran back to the sofa.

"I'm on my way!" He cried, his jelly butt bouncing against the cushion as he landed back onto the couch, wrapping both arms around (Y/n)'s shoulders. She giggled, snuggling the back of her head into Gummy's shoulder as the sound of the humming microwave continued.

The four friends continued with their weirdly entertaining TV night, laughing at the pain of those injuring themselves by riding unicycles in the silliest of ways.

Suddenly, what sounded like groaning and crashing seemed to faintly come from outside the apartment. Harry's attention snapped from the beaming television screen to the room's exit, concern and interest crossing his expression.

He let out a small gasp. "Did you hear something?"

Kala turned her head towards him, her gaze still fixed against the movement of the screen.

"It was just the TV!"

In that moment, an enormous crash shook the room. Gummy and (Y/n)'s attention snapped from the TV, joining Kala and Harry as their eyes searched to room for the source of the ear-piercing sound.

Kala chuckled nervously. "Did you see the way that guy stuck the landing!?"

Gummy, (Y/n), and Harry turned to her, confusion painted across their faces.

"Get it? Stuck? Because he landed butt first... on the goat's horn..?

Kala sighed, pressing her posture against the back of the sofa as she folded her arms in distress.

"Nobody gets me..."

~

"Ooo! That's gonna require a few stitches!"

Kala chuckled, watching the accidents that played on the glowing screen. Harry watched beside her, still a little anxious from the sounds that rang through the room a few minutes ago.

In that sudden moment, a small yet monstrous creature scurried from the other side of the room, leaping into the bowl of fluffy popcorn balanced on the coffee table.

Shrieks and screams soon followed, with Gummy shouting in fear, Harry trembling and soon passing out, and Kala and (Y/n) hissing in self-defence.

The creature looked as though it had been created from a mixture of unhealthy junk food, such as a body that looked as though it consisted of noodles and chunks of cheese, as well as a head that seemed to be in the shape of a pizza slice.

Just then, the sound of banging against the wooden construction that balanced between the doorframe overlapped the panicked screaming and aggressive munching of popcorn.

Two familiar faces came from behind the door as it slammed open - Granny Peters and Mr. Kronk - Gummy's neighbours and somewhat friends. Angered voices began to echo through the apartment, earning puzzled looks from the four friends...

"Destroy the monster!"

"Yeah! Destroy it good!"

~ Previously... ~

"One from column A, and one from column B..."

Mr. Kronk casually wandered through the corridor leading to his nearby apartment, a paper container filled with takeaway food in his grasp.

"I'm going to gobble you down!"

At that moment, he heard a mysterious grouling sound that captured his attention. He turned his gaze to be met with a curious creature, which looked as though it was consisted of junk food...

"DON'T EAT ME!!" Mr. Kronk screamed.

"...and yes, I appreciate the irony of this moment..."

The unhealthy monster dashed towards him, leaping up to use its pizza shaped mouth to grasp the paper container from the terrified human's grasp.

Mr. Kronk crashed to the ground in surprise, before shooting up and heading in the other direction at a panicked pace as the beast continued to slurp the food from within the container.

~

"Hmm... hotdog on a bun... BUNsen burner, that is!"

Granny chuckled to herself, steadily holding a hotdog above to top of a roaring Bunsen burner flame, a metal stick stuffed through the bread to hold it in place.

Seconds after, Granny's laughter was interrupted by the sound of a splat as some form of liquid fell from above and landed against the cooking sausage. Granny watched with confusion, tapping the strange red liquid and giving it a small sniff.

"Cold... tandoori what's it... that's odd..."

Just as she'd identified the liquid, the sound of groaning echoed from above as a strange, monstrous creature that seemed to be made purely from all sorts of unhealthy foods, leapt from the darkness above. It landed directly onto Granny's astonished face, snatching the hotdog straight from the stick. The monster gobbled the entire sausage along with the bread wrapped around it in a single gulp.

"You've picked the wrong hotdog to gobble, Mr. Monster!" Granny cried in frustration.

However, the interesting creature leapt from Granny's science lab surface, bursting through the front door and back out into the corridor while leaving a trail of sauce and melted cheese behind it.

~ Present... ~

The small yet monstrous creation dashed across the room, shooting through the open door behind Gummy's distressed neighbours.

Granny and Mr. Kronk soon followed, torches and forks close behind in distressed grasps.

Kala smirked, sliding from her tense position against the bright white cushions tossed onto the jade sofa.

"I'm up for a little mob action!" She said with determination, a blazing torch now held firmly in her grasp.

(Y/n) smirked cheekily, joining Kala in the center of the room.

"So am I, Kala!" She added with complete resolution, another brightly burning torch in her clutch.

Gummy chuckled, smirking as he joined his girlfriend and her sister, determination crossing his face.

"We can't have monsters interrupting our TV night!" He added, firmly gripping onto the handle of a plunger.

Harry sighed, soon joining them. "Why are we carrying plungers and torches when there are three chainsaws right here?"

He gestured towards the said chainsaws that were, for some unknown reason, propped up against the large, oval window tucked behind the sofa.

"Plungers are funnier, Harry!" Gummy added, smiling as the sound of (Y/n) giggling soon followed.

"Now, let's go catch us a monster!"

~

After a while of chasing the monstrous meal through the apartment corridors, down the stairs, and across the quiet streets surrounding them, Gummy, Harry, Kala, (Y/n), Granny Peters and Mr. Kronk stood watching the little comestible creature as it cowered into the corner.

The edible organism shuddered as its body became more squashed into the corner between the closest building and nearby fence. The sound of weeping soon followed. Small grunts of sadness echoed into the crowd that surrounded him.

Gummy's angered expression softened, sympathy swimming through his azure eyes. His distressed frown became a warm smile.

"Hey, look at that! It's more scared of us than we are of it!" He said, watching the creature as it continued to bawl, its donut eyes scrunched closed.

"Not more scared than me..." Harry added, his voice quivering as his terrified position soon collapsed to the grassy ground below him.

"Ya know, I somehow feel responsible for this poor thing's creation... since I was the one who created it!" Gummy continued, earning a puzzled look from his friend, girlfriend and neighbours.

It then sparked into (Y/n)'s thoughts that this strange critter indeed consisted of the leftover snacks that Gummy had been microwaving earlier, answering the question of where this poor thing had come from.

"I say we adopt it, and give it a chance for a normal life!" Gummy continued, his plunger still proudly in his hold. (Y/n) smiled, admiring the sympathy that her boyfriend was expressing for this creature.

Harry rose from his collapsed position, rubbing his head in slight pain from his fall.

"OK... define normal..."

~

It had been a week since the junk food monster had entered Gummy and his friend's lives. Gummy had been treating this creature as though it was his son - letting it sleep in his room, feeding it half of his dinner, and taking it out for family trips.

However, his friends were concerned about its size - the spicy critter had begun to grow, the top of its pepperoni pizza head almost touching the ceiling of Gummy's apartment.

(Y/n) was also a little nervous about the increase in the peppery pet's beastly size, although she had noticed Gummy's fatherly behaviour around it. She had to admit she found it cute...

Tonight, the 'smelly goofball', as Gummy called him, was neatly tucked up under the maroon blanket of Gummy's bed, crushing the mattress with his substantial weight.

Gummy patted the side of the blanket, tucking it into place around the monster's solid spaghetti body. He smiled warmly as he waved goodnight, heading towards (Y/n) leaning against the doorframe. She giggled as he quietly edged closer.

"You'd make a pretty good dad, y'know..." She suddenly stated, making Gummy blush with a little embarrassment, although he also seemed to be smirking with pride.

In that moment, the crimson pillow from below the creature's pizza base flew across the room, bashing against Gummy's back.

He quickly turned in surprise, cheekily smirking as he realised where it had come from. The monstrous ball of noodles growled in a laugh, raising his stubby arms to hide his cheeky smile.

Within the following seconds, Gummy and (Y/n) were chasing the living leftovers across the bedroom, pillows in their grasps and immature smirks across their faces.

Eventually, they landed in a pile of scarlet material and fluffy feathers against the wooden floorboards, bashing the junk food monster with the remaining cushions.

Gummy smiled a beaming grin to the sound of (Y/n)'s adorable laughter as she snuggled into his side, feathers floating around them as they gently tried to avoid the trail of cheese surrounding them.

~

Daylight flooded across the sky as the dark shade from the night blended with the golden radiant of the sunrise.

Gummy was peacefully curled up against a small, shabby blanket, a scruffy beige pillow below his head and his body pressed against the floorboards as he gently snored in his deep sleep.

A sudden, ear-piercing bang soon followed, causing Gummy's cobalt eyes to shoot open in alert.

He let out an almighty scream in response, quickly sitting up to turn his view towards where the enormous crash had come from in pure shock.

His terrified expression softened as his blue gaze was met with his monstrous pal, the frame of his bed and the maroon mattress collapsed beneath the creature's giant weight.

Gummy raised from his curled up position, sniffing with a little sadness. "They grow up so quickly..."

He smiled warmly at the response of the living leftovers - a dazed gaze followed by a dumbfounded grunt.

"Come on, you big smelly goofball! Let's get you some breakfast!" Gummy happily gestured towards the doorway as he made his way towards it, swiftly sliding through the frame as the monster followed.

A head-splitting slam soon followed, cheese and other spicy sauces shooting into the following room as the spicy critter swung into the doorframe. It wiggled its stubby noodle limbs, attempting to nudge itself free from between the doorway.

Gummy chuckled in entertainment. "If you keep this up I'm never going to get my cleaning deposit back!"

~

Gummy, (Y/n), Kala and Harry sat in a neat row against the stools along the kitchen surface, enjoying the final few slices of pizza from the previous night. Gummy's enormous, monstrous pal was watching from the other side - giant spaghetti fists placed against the table with cheese splattered across the surface and beady, donut eyes watching.

Gummy savoured that final few mouthfulls of pizza, happily gazing down to the final piece remaining on his plate.

"That was delicious!" He slid from his seat and took his plate towards his living leftover friend. "Your turn!"

The monster turned to him, its enormous mouth wide open and eyes scrunched closed, preparing for his instalment of cheese melted against a crusted base decorated with pepperoni.

Gummy tossed the slice from the plate directly into the creature's mouth. Happily crunching and delighted sounds of enjoyment soon followed.

Gummy's smile grew as he saw (Y/n) giggling in response to the events of the past few seconds as he made his way back to his seat bedside her.

However, the giant creature suddenly began to groan on what sounded like pain. It raised itself from its crouched position, cheese and other spicy sauces remaining spread across the floor. It began to grow, rapidly increasing in about a few centimetres a second.

An enormous thud soon followed - the spicy spaghetti monster's pizza slice head had created a gaping hole in the ceiling, dust and chunks of the structure collapsing to the ground. The monster eventually stopped growing, its hazelnut eyes filled with shock.

"Uh, Gummy, I hate to say this but I think it's time for your 'little one' to leave the nest..." Harry stated, with Gummy's happy expression melting into a concerned frown in response.

"Yeah! Before he demolishes it!" Kala growled.

"But... where can he go?" Gummy sadly asked.

"The dump!" Harry
