❝ ＴＨＥ ＨＡＰＰＹ ＰＵＰＰＹ ❞

It was the beginning of another peaceful mid-summer day, the strips of sunlight brightly shining through the large, oval window of Gummy's apartment.

(Y/n) was lounging with her phone on Gummy's jade sofa, skimming over anything interesting that decided to pop up on her social media. Harry was busy working on his laptop on the kitchen counter across the other side of the room.

A few minutes later, a familiar, fun-loving green bear slid through the door. He noticed his friends were completely focused within their technology. A thought crossed his mind as a cheeky smirk appeared across his face.

Harry was busy with whatever important business his laptop had to offer, and (Y/n) turned her attention to Gummy when she noticed what he was about to do.

Gummy sneakily crept beside the kitchen counter where Harry was working, so engrossed in his technology he didn't notice the cheeky green bear behind him.

"SURPRISE!!" Gummy shouted, as he popped up behind Harry, making him jump roughly a meter above his stool. His glasses flew off his head as he landed onto the floor with a thud.

(Y/n) laughed from the other side of the room, although Gummy looked down at Harry with a concerned expression. He expected him to jump, but not this much.

Harry's eyes slowly opened to see Gummy and (Y/n) staring down at him with worried faces. Gummy's expression changed to a smile once he saw his friend was awake, and held out his hand to help him up.

"I told you I don't like surprises!" Harry reminded Gummy in an agitated tone as he came to his feet.

But Gummy was too excited about what news he had to deliver next to pay any attention.

"Guess what!" He suddenly said in excitement, earning (Y/n)'s interest.

"Do I have to?" Harry replied.

"A puppy followed me home!" Gummy exclaimed, walking towards and opening the front door.

"Really!?" (Y/n) said in excitement and curiosity.

"Yeah right, a puppy?" Harry added, almost in disbelief.

Gummy opened the door to let the 'puppy' enter his home.

Instead of what small, fluffy creature (Y/n) and Harry expected to enter, a creamy brown coated goat came into their sight, leaving them in more disbelief.

"Ta-da! It's a puppy!" Gummy said proudly, letting the animal into his apartment.

Harry and (Y/n) watched with wide eyes and open jaws as the goat trotted past them, bleating as it did so.

Harry turned back to Gummy. "I know I'm no expert on animals, but isn't that a goat?" He questioned, turning back to the 'puppy'.

The goat nudged Gummy's bright pink beanbag up into the air with its horns, and raised its back legs to send it flying across the room. Gummy managed to catch it perfectly, running towards his new animal friend with it still clasped in his grip.

"I present; Wow-wow! The happy puppy!"

Harry and (Y/n) wandered up to Gummy's 'puppy' with puzzled looks on their faces. Harry sniffed the air close to Wow-wow and (Y/n) examined him with confusion.

Harry's expression changed as he processed the smell coming from the goat. "But it smells like a goat! And has horns, and a goatee beard!" He said pointing to these features on the goat.

But Gummy was too excited to listen. "And he can dance!" He proudly shouted, hugging Wow-wow. "Wanna see?" He asked his friends.

Harry noticed (Y/n) about to reply, 'yes', but he stopped her before she could.

"I'm not sure we-" he started, but although Gummy asked the question, he would accept an answer unless it was 'yes'.

"Of course you do!" Gummy said, walking over to his computer.

He tapped some buttons on the keyboard until music came blasting from the speakers either side of the screen.

Wow-wow happily jumped into a dance position, kicking his legs and shaking his butt in rhythm with the beat.

(Y/n) clapped and cheered in utter amazement.

"Are you sure he doesn't miss his family? Was no one looking for him?" Harry threw questions into the fun, breaking the positive feeling.

"I've always wanted a puppy!" Gummy said proudly, ignoring Harry and quickly kissing Wow-wow on the uh... cheek? (Y/n) giggled.

"But it's a big responsibility!" Harry continued to ruin the moment. "Not to mention the extra therapy I'll need..." he said quieter, but (Y/n) heard this and giggled.

She then continued to laugh as Gummy's new goat friend blew his tongue at Harry.

Gummy gently placed a bowl of dog food onto the carpet below his new 'puppy' companion. Wow-wow bent his head closer towards it and sniffed, a disgusted look appearing on his face. He raised his head back up to blow his tongue at Gummy, proudly walking away.

Gummy's expression changed from a smile to a frown.

"You see want he's doing?" Harry cut in, as Wow-wow began to rip a hole into the side of Gummy's pink beanbag with his teeth, chewing the material that remained in his mouth.

"He's chewing everything!!" Harry cried in stress and disbelief.

Gummy chuckled as his attention shifted from Wow-wow to his friends. "Isn't it cute?"

(Y/n) quietly laughed to herself. It was like he almost read her thoughts that occurred every time Gummy did anything. She knew she was going to have to tell him someday.

Just not yet.

Harry's expression suddenly changed from stress to surprise pain as Wow-wow snuck up behind him and began to nibble at his scaley tail.

Harry's chameleon colours flashed through many shades in seconds as the sudden pain ran through from his tail to the rest of his body. Gummy and (Y/n) couldn't help but laugh.

"What did I do to deserve this?" Harry sadly asked, hugging his tail to comfort the pain.

Wow-wow then trotted towards Harry's laptop - which was now charging, propped on a small ladder in the corner of the room - and bent down to nibble on the charging cable.

Harry watched in anger and discomfort as Wow-wow picked up the device with his teeth and flipped it above his head, sending it crashing to the floor.

His then pressed his goat hooves against the screen and keyboard with a crunch, sending cracks across the shiny piece of tech.

"Isn't he smart! Most puppies can't use computers..." Gummy said, like a father in pride of his son.

Wow-wow then jumped up onto the torn beanbag, and Gummy excitedly climbed up onto the kitchen counter not far behind.

"Watch this!" He shouted to (Y/n), as she folded her arms and chuckled at his silliness.

He leapt onto the beanbag as his goat companion bounced onto the sofa and back off onto the floor. Gummy followed him onto the beanbag, but jumped just too close to the edge of the couch, falling backwards and flat onto his butt seconds after landing.

(Y/n) laughed as she ran over to check that he was OK. But Gummy cried "I'm OK!" before she had a chance to ask. He quickly found his feet, almost seeming embarrassed that he'd failed his parkour challenge in front of (Y/n).

He turned back to where he thought Wow-wow was. "You win the game, Wow-wow!" He then noticed his puppy pal was missing from the inside of the apartment.

He frowned. "Wow-wow?" He called, heading towards the open door to the outside world with (Y/n) not far behind.

Gummy ran ahead and stepped onto his long, scenic balcony, looking up towards the slim part of the roof that hung over towards the platform. He used his hand to shield his eyes from the blinding sun as he examined what he found on the roof.

Goat footprints.

He smiled, then looked back down to see (Y/n) catching up.

His smile became more of a smirk, as (Y/n) came into view.

"Hey~" he started. (Y/n) noticed his tone of voice and blushed slightly.

"Y-yeah?"

"My puppy can climb buildings~" Gummy said, pointing up to the footprints. It was almost like he was trying to impress her.

(Y/n) saw them and giggled, with Gummy joining in a few seconds later.

After following the footprints that stained most of the flooring of the apartment's roof area, Gummy and (Y/n) managed to track down Wow-wow.

He had somehow made it to Kala's dojo.

(Y/n)'s sister was inside, practicing her latest kitty ninja karate moves on her plush dummy of Gummy.

(Y/n) always found it strange how her sister enjoyed throwing ninja stars at and sending her feet into the face of a plushie of one of her best friends.

Just as Kala was about to send herself flying through the air, (Y/n) and Gummy began spying on Wow-wow through the crystal clear glass of the window.

Kala leapt off of the ground and as she was about to send her leg flying towards the dummy, Wow-wow jumped up, bashing his head towards Kala's foot. This threw her across the dojo, hitting her back right against the wall and sliding down onto the ground with a thud.

(Y/n) rushed in and made sure her sister wasn't badly injured. Kala swiftly jumped up onto her feet, with one leg raised and one hand in front, and examined the animal that stood before her. Her ninja position changed to a regular stance as she saw the goat wouldn't be a threat. Wow-wow bleated.

"Uh... this is-" (Y/n) started, as Wow-wow happily brushed the side of Kala's face with his tongue. Gummy entered the dojo's tall entrance.

"Wow-wow!" Gummy finished the sentence. Running towards his puppy pal. "He's so good at climbing!"

Gummy allowed Wow-wow to nudge him in the butt with his horns. Gummy laughed and (Y/n) smiled in response to his cute little giggle.

He turned to face Wow-wow and took a few steps back, before running a few steps forward to nudge Wow-wow back again.

"Such a clever puppy!"

"Puppy..."

The word swirled around Kala's thoughts. She leapt up towards the ceiling in surprise and fear, her sister watching her far below.

Kala clutched onto some shiny metal poles that were spread across the wall slightly below the ceiling by her tail. She hung down and cried out "I... hate... dogs!" Her voice quivered.

She then examined Wow-wow as he gave a loud goat bleat.

Kala scratched her head in thought. "Hang on a second..."

She leapt down back onto the ground in a complex ninja move, landing softly in front of her sister, friend and new goat acquaintance.

She stood up, looking at Gummy in confusion. "Your dog speaks fluent goat." She stated.

"I told you he was clever." Gummy replied, and he noticed (Y/n) smiling. He zoned out for a moment, lost in his thoughts and view of (Y/n)

He snapped back into reality seconds later. He shifted his attention back down to Wow-wow, who was proudly stood by his side.

"Hey, Wow-wow? Wanna play in the park?"

Wow-wow bleated, trotting towards the dojo's open door.

"See! Wagging tail!" Gummy shouted, pointing towards Wow-wow's tail.

(Y/n) chuckled, rolling her (e/c) eyes at Gummy's adorable silliness.

Wow-wow's tail was swaying slightly, but only as the result of his quick trotting.

"It's Gummy time!" Gummy shouted, dashing out the door close behind Wow-wow, with (Y/n) and Kala following.

Gummy had arrived in the local park with Wow-wow, his friends close behind.

Suddenly, Wow-wow took off at quite some speed. Gummy's smile became a worried frown.

"Wow-wow! Wait!" He called, running after him with (Y/n) and Kala.

The three friends came to a sudden stop after a few steps, realising Harry hadn't followed them.

Gummy and Kala ran back to where they began, each grasping one of Harry's arms and dragging him along the lush green grass. (Y/n) laughed and ran ahead.

After a while, (Y/n) came to a stop, spinning on her heels to see Gummy and her sister still dragging a very uncomfortable Harry. She laughed, then noticed Gummy's cute blue eyes watching her. Had he been watching her the whole time?

She shook it off and slid her back down the trunk of a nearby apple tree, becoming lost in her thoughts. She needed to tell Gummy soon. She couldn't hold it off forever or else she'd never know. She then almost daydreamed about the way Gummy was talking to her earlier, as if he was trying to impress her, and how he was watching her as she dashed ahead of him and Kala.

It gave her hope.

She snapped back to reality and looked up to see Gummy in the distance, at one side of a small tree, with Kala at the other, and Harry in between. He had smashed straight into said tree.

(Y/n) laughed and happily sighed.

A few minutes later, Gummy and Kala caught up to (Y/n), finding comfy patches in the long sweet-smelling grass to plop onto as the healthy apple tree towered over them.

Gummy placed himself beside (Y/n), and she couldn't help but almost use his shoulder as a pillow, closing her eyes as the gentle breeze ran through her (f/c) fur.

Gummy turned his attention down to her. He sighed and smiled, softly placing his head atop hers.

Harry appeared in the distance a few moments later, walking slowly in pain from the previous incident.

He finally reached the apple tree where his friends were, and he sighed in pain.

"This is chameleon abuse!" He whined.

A fresh red-skinned apple suddenly landed onto Harry's head with a thud. The apple bounced onto the ground as Harry held his head in more pain.

Gummy looked up through the thin branches of the tree above him. He noticed a familiar friend.

"Wow-wow!" He shouted, jumping up in excitement.

He looked up to see his goat companion, perched perfectly onto a thicker, stronger branch of the tree.

"He climbs as well as a goat!"

"That's because he's-"

"A super talented puppy! I know!"

Harry groaned and collapsed onto the grass, giving up his chances of trying to tell Gummy that his 'puppy' was indeed a goat. (Y/n) laughed.

Gummy jumped up towards the tree's thick, brown trunk, clasping his arms as far around it as he could. He pushed his body up the tree, impersonating Wow-wow's bleating as he did so.

He suddenly stopped, sliding back down the trunk and heading towards where Harry had collapsed.

He grasped his tail and tugged him up the tree with him.

The group of friends had all successfully managed to slide their way up the tree, and were now buried among the luscious leaves, perched on the branches.

Gummy and (Y/n) looked amongst the leaves and many apples growing underneath for their goat/puppy pal.

No such luck.

Harry lied flat on a thicker branch beside Gummy, trembling and quivering in fear, his eyes squeezed shut.

"G-Gummy? I'm not so good with... heights..." Harry stuttered, not daring to open his eyes to see the ground so far below him.

"Oh... you're not?" Gummy asked.

"N-no..."

"Let's go down then!"

Gummy grabbed hold of Harry's hand, shooting down the apple tree in one swift leap. They fell to the ground with a thud, with Kala and (Y/n) watching from the top of the tree in laughter.

"Better now?" Gummy asked his friend, finding his feet on the green grass.

Harry was too shocked about the events in the last few seconds to even say a word. He simply stuttered due to his trembling, falling even further towards the ground in contrast to getting up.

"Great! Now where's Wow-wow?" Gummy asked, scanning the landscape for his new animal friend.

Kala and (Y/n) leapt down to the ground, falling through the branches perfectly and landing without a sound.

Gummy watched (Y/n) in awe. She turned to him, smiling, but he looked to the ground in embarrassment, realising he was staring.

He then noticed some strange brown blobs scattered in a slightly bent line along the field.

"What are those?" (Y/n) pointed them out to the others.

"Cool! He's left a trail of raisins for us to follow!" Gummy exclaimed.

"Uh... I don't think those are raisins..."

"This way!!" Gummy shouted, grasping Harry's hand and tugging him along as he continued his journey along the field.

After following the 'raisins', Gummy and his friends managed to locate Wow-wow in an open area towards the center of the field.

Wow-wow looked as though he was concentrated, straining his ears as if to listen to something in the far distance.

"What's he listening to?" Gummy thought aloud, using his hand to shield his eyes from the sunlight as he tried to focus his ears to listen to the distant sound, and his eyes to spot what was making it.

Wow-wow began to charge towards the friend group, as the distant sound came closer and closer, becoming clear to be the sound of other goats.

The bleating group of quickly trotting goats came into view, with Wow-wow leading them towards Gummy's gang.

The goats came to a stop as they reached Gummy, who had a smile across his face.

"Wow-wow! You have a family?" He asked.

Wow-wow bleated in response, running towards Gummy and allowing him to wrap his arm around him.

"Amaza-craza-wowie!" Gummy exclaimed, hugging Wow-wow around the neck.

"You know you can visit us whenever you like!"

Wow-wow bleated happily in response.

"And always remember that special thing I told you -" Gummy started, continuing with a long sequence of goat sounds.

Wow-wow bleated in response, as if he understood.

Gummy's new 'puppy' pal then took off in a gallop towards the other side of the field heading to the forest ahead.

The group of goats disappeared into the horizon, leaving Gummy, Harry, Kala and (Y/n) watching them depart.

(Y/n) noticed the sadness in Gummy's eyes as he watched his 'puppy' leave with his family. She slowly rested her head onto his shoulder and sighed. He turned his attention to her, smiling and resting his head on hers.

"You know... I don't think those other animals are puppies..." Gummy stated.

Kala overheard and groaned in relief. "Now he gets it!"

"I think Wow-wow is adopted!"

Harry sighed, collapsing back onto the grass.

(Y/n) and Gummy giggled, turning from Harry back to the horizon, resting their heads onto each other's, the sun now sliding behind the lush green forest.
