I was walking home when I accidentally bumped into someone. I turned around, only to see my ex, Marcus, standing there.

About Marcus: He was protective over me, but only because he saw me as property. He didn’t care about me at allβ€”he was abusive and cheated on me multiple times. I never once got sad about it, but it still made me angry every time I thought about it.

Wait, what the hell is he doing here?

"Luna?!" Marcus said, his voice filled with shock as he looked at me.

My outfit

β€œWhat the hell are you doing here, Marcus?” I asked, my tone laced with irritation.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. β€œYou see, a video made its way to the internet, and now it’s going viral,” he said, unlocking his phone and scrolling.

β€œWhat video?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest.

β€œThe video’s of you, Amber, and Summer,” he said, still looking at his phone. β€œA dance video.”

Oh yeah, I remembered that video. I posted it a few days ago.

(A/N: I should’ve mentioned this earlier, but Luna’s two best friends, Amber and Summer, moved in with her recently. They’re also in a dance group called Boss Ladys, which started with four peopleβ€”Luna, Amber, Summer, and Vivian. When Vivian died, they stopped dancing for a while to grieve, but Amber and Summer decided to move to Derry last week and continue the group.)

β€œOkay, I posted that,” I said, brushing some hair out of my face.

β€œWell, no one knew you guys decided to continue the group,” Marcus said, finally showing me the video.

The girl with the white pants and pigtails is Amber, and Summer is the one with her hair down.

"Okay, so why are you here for Amber?" I asked, a little confused. I saw him start smirking. Oh, I know exactly where this is going.

"We're dating," he said with that cocky smirk. There it is. Whatever. I honestly couldn’t care less.

"Cool. I don’t care, sorry not sorry," I said, hopping onto my skateboard.

"Why are you so cold?" he asked, eyeing my skateboard, then glancing at my outfit.

"Because it's better to be cold than a pushover. I’m never doing that again. And if you ever lay a finger on Amber, I’ll let Henry cut your fingers off and Patrick will burn you alive," I said, smirking.

"What, are they your boyfriends?" he asked, looking a little thrown off, but I didn’t care.

"No, they’re my friends," I said, riding off.

I knocked on Amber’s front door, and after a moment, she opened it. I walked in and started looking around for anyone else.

"Amber Brooke Baker," I said, turning to her with my arms folded.

"Oh no, what did I do?" she asked, closing the door behind her and turning toward me.

"One, I ran into Seth. Two, I found out he came here for you. And three, you’re dating that abusive dumbass," I said, watching her face shift through several expressions. Finally, she spoke.

"Okay, so I really didn’t know he was even coming to this town, and he’s not like that anymore. He’s actually really kind and smart now. I was going to tell you, but I was scared of how you’d react because youβ€”"

I cut her off by putting my hand to her mouth.

"Okay, okay, that’s gross. And if that bastard can change, then pigs can fly. Why would I care? That trash has been dead to me for two years," I said, removing my hand from her mouth.

She started laughing.

"P-p-pigs c-can f-fly," she said, laughing her ass off.

Man, this child couldn’t take anything seriously. She was literally dying of laughter at her cousin’s funeral. I know she didn’t know them well, but laughing like that? It was rude, but honestly, pretty funny too.
