The school doors slammed shut, rattling on their hinges as Scott, Gabriella, and Stiles leaned against them, gripping the handles with all their strength.
"Lock it, lock it!" Scott shouted.
"Does it look like I have a key?" Gabriella shot back.
"Grab somethingโ"
"He tossed Derek like a ragdoll. You really think a locked door is gonna stop him?" Gabriella countered.
"Do you have a better idea?" Stiles snapped.
"Yeah, we run," Gabriella said, glancing out the window. The Alpha was nowhere in sight.
She began backing away slowly, her steps quickening until she broke into a run. Scott and Stiles exchanged a look before following her.
They barreled into a dark classroom, slipping around the teacher's desk and shoving it toward the door.
The desk screeched loudly against the tiles.
"Stop, stop!" Gabriella hissed. "The door's not going to keep it out."
"I knowโ"
Stiles interrupted Scott. "Deaton. The Alpha. Your boss."
"Noโ"
"Yes. Murdering, psycho werewolf."
"It can't be," Scott protested.
Gabriella sighed. "He disappears, and that thing shows up ten seconds later to toss Derek twenty feet across the air. That's not convenient timing?"
"It's not him."
"He killed Derek."
"Derek's not dead," Gabriella insisted.
"Blood spurted out of his mouth. That doesn't exactly qualify as a minor injury. He's dead. We're next," Stiles argued.
Gabriella locked eyes with him. "He can heal."
"No one can heal from that."
"He can."
"Okay, whatever," Stiles said. "Justโwhat do we do?"
"We get to my Jeep, we get out of here, and you seriously think about quitting your job," Stiles suggested.
The three of them crept to the window and peered into the parking lot. Stiles's Jeep sat just twenty yards away.
Scott placed his hands on the windowsill, but Gabriella stopped him. "They don't open. The school's climate-controlled."
"Then we break it," Scott said.
"Which will make a lot of noise," Stiles countered.
"So we run really fast," Scott said, shrugging.
They looked back at the Jeep. Somehow, it now seemed much farther away.
"This is a stupid idea," Gabriella muttered. "He's faster than all of us combined. Did you forget he stabbed Derek from behind, and none of us saw it coming?"
"Fine!" Stiles snapped. "Then what do we do?"
Gabriella took a deep breath, scanning outside for options. Then she spotted something. "Stiles, what's wrong with the hood of your Jeep?"
"What do you mean? Nothing's wrong."
"It's bent."
"You mean dented?" Stiles squinted at the Jeep, following her gaze.
He leaned closer to the window. The Jeep's hood twisted upward, like someone had peeled it open.
"What the hell happened to myโ"
A sudden explosion of glass sent them screaming to the floor.
Ducking under the window, they gawked at the Jeep's battery, now lying across the room with its wires dangling.
"That's my battery," Stiles said in disbelief.
Scott nodded. The three of them stared at it, stunned.
"I'm not dying here," Stiles finally said. "I'm especially not dying in school."
"We're not going to die," Gabriella said firmly.
"Then what does it want?" Stiles asked.
Gabriella glanced out the window, her face tense. "It wants Scott. Wolves are stronger with a pack."
"Great," Stiles said. "A psychotic werewolf who's into teamwork. Perfect."
Their banter was cut short when a shadow passed by the window.
"Hide," Gabriella whispered.
The three scrambled into lockers, squeezing into the cramped spaces. Gabriella sighed, regretting her life choices as the locker room door creaked open.
A large, dark figure entered, claws tapping against the tile. Gabriella held her breath, peering through the vent.
The sound stopped.
Scott's locker door suddenly flew open, making him yelp. But it wasn't the Alphaโit was the janitor.
"Son of a bitch!" the janitor cursed, clutching his chest.
"Quiet!" Scott hissed, trying to calm the terrified man.
"Quiet, my ass! Are you three trying to kill me? Get out!"
Before they could explain, the janitor shoved them into the hallway.
"Shut up and go!"
But as they turned, the janitor was yanked back into the locker room. His face smashed against the glass window, blood smearing across it.
Scott and Stiles pulled Gabriella away as she reached for the door.
"His heart just stopped," she whispered, horror etched on her face.
"Run!" Stiles shouted.
The three sprinted down the corridor, their footsteps echoing.
"We're not going to make it," Stiles panted.
Gabriella glanced back. "We will. Just keep moving."
But as they turned a corner, a dark figure loomed in the shadows ahead, red eyes glowing.
"This guy is everywhere," Gabriella muttered.
The Alpha bounded toward them, glass shattering in his wake.
Gabriella grabbed Scott and Stiles, pulling them into a stairwell.
The lights above flickered as they reached the basement.
"We need a plan," Scott gasped.
Gabriella rummaged in her pocket and pulled out her house keys. "I have an idea."
"Which is?"
She brings them up, They jangle softly, causing both boys to flinch.
She rears back and THROWS THE KEYS.
They land right in one of the cage rooms, CLATTERING AGAINST
THE WALL.
Something BLURS past, A MASSIVE SHAPE in the darkness, soaring in after the keys.
Without hesitating, Gabriella jumps out of the shadows and slams the door shut behind it "-that"
With barely a second to comprehend the plan, Scott and Stiles rush to one of the steel desks and ram it against the closed door.
Gabriella slips out of the way as the door JERKS FORWARD hitting the side of the desk.
The Alpha ROARS from inside the cage room, SLAMMING into the door.
But the desk wedges between it and the opposite wall.
The Alpha can't get out.
They trapped it
Gabriella, Stiles and Scott stand on opposite sides of the desk now wedged between the cage door and the wall.
Gabriella slowly motions with her hand for stiles and Scott to climb over.
They bega to move awkwardly sliding over the desk as THE ALPHA'S HAND SLAMS UP against the mesh wire window of the door sending both Stiles and Scott flinching back.
They stare at the massive hand, clawed fingers like talons fitting through the openings.
It slowly pulls back, disappearing again into the shadows Incredibly, Stiles starts toward the cage room.
Gabriella looked at him and whisped in a harsh tone "What are you doing?"
"I want to get a look"
Scott put a hand on stiles shoulder "Are you crazy?"
Stiles shrugged him off. "It's trapped. It can't get out."
Gabriella shot him a sharp look. "That room isn't going to hold it forever. We need to get out of here before it does."
"Relax. This room's sturdier than it looks," Stiles said, sounding more confident.
The cage rattled violently, as if to challenge him.
"That's right," Stiles said, puffing up. "We got you."
Gabriella glared at him. "Do you have a death wish, or are you just stupid enough to taunt a psychotic werewolf?"
Stiles smirked. "I'm not scared of this thing." He turned toward the cage. "I'm not scared of you. Because you're not going any--"
Suddenly the Alpha LEAPS UP, SHOOTING RIGHT INTO THE CEILING.
THE PANELS BURST away, CRASHING and CLATTERING to the floor.
The three gaze up in horror as the ceiling panels above them SHAKE, bending and popping up under the weight of the creature, No longer trapped at all.
They turn to watch the panels rumble and shake above as the Alpha makes its retreat.
Gabriella squint her eyes and looks away from the scene after hearing a sound in the distance "Do you hear that?"
"Hear what?" Stiles asked, confused.
"A phone ringing," Gabriella said, her expression darkening. Then, the realization hit Scott.
"I know that ring. It's Allison's phone..."
"What the hell is she doing here?" Gabriella muttered.
"Iโ I don't know!" Scott replied, his voice tight.
"I'll call her." Gabriella pulled her phone from her pocket and dialed Allison's number.
"Allison."
"Bella?"
"Yeah. Where are you?"
Scott's panic was palpable, and it seemed to spread to everyone around him. Fear heightened, and the tension in the room thickened with every second.
"In the school, looking for you."
"Where are you right now?" Gabriella's voice sharpened.
"On the first floorโ"
"Where? Where exactly?" Gabriella's tone was so harsh, so urgent, it caught Allison off guard.
Allison hesitated before answering. "The swimming... the swimming pools."
"Get to the lobby. Go now," Gabriella ordered, her voice intense.
"Okay, okay, I'm going."
Allison hung up and headed for the lobby. Gabriella looked at the boys.
"She's heading to the lobby. Let's go," Gabriella said, already moving.
They run up to the lobby as fast as they can and Gabriella pushes through a door and into the first floor lobby to find Allison running toward her.
They ran up to the lobby as fast as they could, and Gabriella pushed through a door into the first-floor lobby, just as Allison was running toward her.
Scott stopped in his tracks. "What are you doing? Why'd you come here?"
Allison looked at him, confusion mixing with concern. "Because you asked me to."
"I asked you to?" Scott frowned, trying to make sense of it.
She showed him her phone, revealing a message: Meet me at the school - Scott.
Allison observed their reactions, her gaze flicking between them.
"Why do I get the feeling you didn't send that message?" she asked.
"Because I didn't," Scott replied, his voice low.
Gabriella turned to Allison, her eyes narrowed. "Did you drive here?"
" Jackson did."
"Jackson's here too?" Stiles asked, raising an eyebrow.
"And Lydia. What's going on? Who sent this textโ"
Before anyone could respond, Allison's phone rang again "Where are you?"
Jackson and Lydia appeared, rushing around the corner.
Lydia sighed in frustration. "Finally. Can we go now?"
But before any of them could answer, they heard a strange rumbling noise above them.
Gabriella spun around, urgency in her steps. "Run."
She pushed them forward just as something burst through the ceiling panels behind them.
The doors to the cafeteria slammed open, and six frightened teenagers rushed in, eyes wide with panic.
Stiles hissed, "Scott, waitโ not hereโ not here."
But he isn't listening. Swinging the doors closed, Scott spins back to search for a way to barricade them in "The vending machine. Help me push it in front of the doors"
"What was that? Scott, what was that?" Allison asked, her voice shaking.
Lydia's eyes were wide with confusion. "What happened to the ceiling?"
Scott didn't answer, his focus entirely on moving the vending machine.
"Just help me!" he snapped.
Jackson and Allison rushed to help, sliding the machine against the doors.
"What was that? Scott, what was that?"
Jackson and Allison get behind it as well, sliding it against the doors. Scott's panic seems to infect them all, heightening the fear among the group.
"Chairs. Stack the chairs--"
"Guys, hold on"
Gabriella turns and sees Stiles pointing at the windows "God why does beacon hills have shit tons of windows"
Jackson and Allison grab chairs, stacking them, everyone rushing to blockade the doors. Everyone except for Stiles and Gabriella.
"Okay, nice work. Beautiful job, everyone. Now what do you think we should do about the twenty foot wall of windows!"
Stiles shakes his hands at the field of glass to his right. Scott and the others look up. Good point.
Allison, clearly on edge, speaks up. "Can someone please explain what's going on? I'm freaking out here, and I'd at least like to know why."
Gabriella doesn't respond. She doesn't even look at her, not knowing how to answer.
Stiles, in his usual blunt way, breaks the silence. "Someone killed the janitor."
Lydia's confusion is evident. "What?"
"The janitor's dead," Stiles repeats, his tone grim.
Allison looks to Scott, her eyes wide with concern. "What's he talking about? Is this a joke?"
But Scott shakes his head, the seriousness in his expression only deepening the tension.
Jackson steps in, voice sharp. "Who killed him?"
Lydia shakes her head in disbelief. "No, no, no. This was supposed to be over. The mountain lionโ"
Jackson cuts her off, frustration in his voice. "Don't you get it? There wasn't a mountain lionโ"
Allison turns to Scott, urgency in her voice. "Who is it? What does he want?"
Gabriella looks to Scott, hoping for some clarity, but he's practically shutting down, his eyes distant as he shakes his head.
"What's happening? Scott?" Allison said looking frightened
"I don't know--it's just--if we go out there, he's going to kill us"
"Us? Kill us?"
Allison turns to Gabriella, pressing her "Who? Who is it?"
"Derek. It's Derek Hale" Scott blurted out making All eyes turn back to him in shock. Especially Gabriella.
Scott looks almost surprised at saying it himself.
"Derek killed the janitor?" Jackson said not believing him
"You're sure?"
Gabriella whispered under her breath "say your not sure"
Scott ignored her " I saw him"
Gabriella eyes widen wanting to slap Scott knowing this decision is gonna come hit them in the ass.
"But The mountain lion-- "
Scott interrupted lydia "No. Derek killed them."
"All of them?"
Scott looked at allison "Starting with his own sister"
"And the bus driver?"
"And then the guy in the video store. It's been Derek the whole time. He's in here with us. And if we don't get out... he's going to kill us too"
Jackson not wanting to get killed turns to Stiles "Call the cops"
"No"
"What do you mean no?"
"I mean no. Want to hear it in Spanish? No. Derek killed three people. We don't know what he's armed with"
Jackson looked at him in disbelief "Your Dad is armed with an entire Sheriff's Department. Call him"
"I'm calling" Lydia puts her phone to her ear.
"Hold on--Lydia, just wait--" Gabriella starts forward, but Jackson shoves her back " if you don't get your hands of me in the next three seconds you won't have hands"
Jackson glares at before removing his hands and them Gabriella looked at lydia who was talking to the nine one one operator "Yes, we're at Beacon Hills High School. We're trapped in here and we need you to..."
Lydia pauses. The others watch her expression change to one of surprise. She slowly pulls the phone away from her ear "She hung up on me'
"The police hung up on you?"
"She said they got a tip warning them there would be prank calls about a break in at the high school. She said if I called again they would trace it and have me arrested"
"Then call again"
Gabriella shakes her head "They won't trace a cell phone. They'll send a car to your house before they send someone here"
Allison looked at her dumbfounded "What the... What is this? Why does Derek want to kill us? Why's he killing anyone?"
They all look to Scott for the answer, since he was the one who apparently saw Derek kill someone "Why are you looking at me?"
" Is he the one who sent her the text?" Lydia asks scott
"No--I mean, I don't know"
"Is he the one who called the police?"
"I don't know" He snaps at her, causing Allison to flinch noticeably.
Behind her, Jackson can't help but smile just a little bit.
Gabriella gets in between them to pull Scott aside. "Okay, everybody just ease back on the throttle, all right?"
Gabriella takes Scott over to the kitchen area of the cafeteria as stiles follows to talk to him privately "what the hell were you thinking, Throwing Derek under the bus? Nicely done, when he comes back your the one he's gonna kill"
"I didn't know what to say. I had to say something - Oh God, I totally bit her head off"
" And she'll totally get over it. Bigger things to deal with. Like getting out of here alive" Stiles points out
"But we are alive. And it could have already killed us. It's like it's cornering us"
"What? Like it wants to eat us all at the same time?" Stiles said making Gabriella shake her head
"No, it wants revenge, that's what the spiral means"
"ok he wants revenge but Against who?"
"I don't know. Allison's family?" Scott said
"Maybe that's what the text was
Gabriella rasies an eyebrow "So while loping through the woods he stops to take out his Blackberry?"
"Hey, hey, hey. I'm the sarcastic one in this friendship"
Getting sick of all the secretary Jackson calls out, "Okay, assheads. New plan. Stiles calls his useless dad and tells him to send someone with a gun and decent aim. We good with that?"
Scott whispers to Stiles "He's right, Tell him the truth if you have to. Just call him
"I'm not watching my dad get eaten alive"
Jackson steps past the others, charging toward Stiles "That's it. Give me your phone'
He spins Stiles around, grabbing for the phone in his pocket.
But in a moment of pure instinct, Stiles reels back and CLOCKS Jackson, sending him sprawling to the floor.
Strangely, Lydia isn't the one running to help him up. It's Allison. "Are you okay? Jackson?"
While he's turned around, she can't see the look on his face. And despite being punched, he's smiling, silently pleased by the turn of events. He slowly gazes back, feigning shock and hurt.
Seeing Allison covering her territory, Lydia seems to snap back to life and hurries over to help.
Cradling his shaking hand, Stiles looks to Scott who is just as surprised and Gabriella who looked proud.
Then, with the hand not trembling in pain, Stiles reaches into his pocket and fishes out his cell phone, as the others watch, he dials.
"Dad? Hey, it's me... and it's your voicemail. Um... I need you to call me back. Like now. Like right now-- "
Something slams against the doors. Lydia SCREAMS, Allison retreating to her side as Gabriella pulls everyone away from the noise.
"We're at the school--Dad--we're at the school--"
WHAM! A stack of chairs tumble down as the barricade against the doors begins to fall.
Stiles lowers the phone, backing away with the others.
Something HAMMERS at the doors. SMASHING at them, POUNDING,
desperately trying to BREAK THROUGH.
THE VENDING MACHINE SLIDES FORWARD.
A chair whips past Allison as if thrown like a projectile. She screams, hands coming up.
"Oh God, oh my God--"
