"I need to tell you something."
You were awakened by a loud knocking on your door. You groaned as the light from the hallway lightened up your room, meaning the door was open.
If it wasn't because you just remembered that the thrilling adventure that determines Corona's future begins today, you would have protested against being woken up this way, but now you just threw off your blanket, jumped out off your bed, and stretched happily.
"Good morning, speedy." Eugene laughed, and rubbed your hair, making it even messier.
Speedy was a nickname that he had given to you way back from when you were 5 years old or so. It was because you were so full of energy back then, and then the nickname had kinda stuck to you.
Laughing you pulled his arms away from your hair, only to give him a bone-crushing hug. Just like the ones Rapunzel always used to give you. Before all of this had happened.
"Thank you for letting me tag along." You whispered, burying your head into his chest. Sure he was one big idiot sometimes, but you still loved him, and you weren't afraid to show it.
"Yeah, don't sweat it. Just remember to always be within a 10 feet radius from me, okay?"
You just laughed and got over to the clothes on the chair, that you had put there last evening. It was the best clothes you had to wear on an adventure. It was practical for the circumstances, yet still smart.
You kinda waited for your brother to go out of your room, for you to change, but then he interrupted you, taking the clothes out of your hands.
"You won't be needing that. Xavier has made us some clothes that we're gonna wear out there. Dark-colored, and tight... And some weapons."
You rose a brow. "Weapons? Why would we need weapons?"
Then you remembered the black mamba that you would have to kill, but Eugene just shook his head and sighed. "I need to tell you something."
You nodded, copying his serious face-expression. Something was wrong. And then you noticed the large bags under his eyes. He hasn't slept much this night.
You sat on your bed for him to follow your action. Then you waited patiently for him to speak.
He sighed again, wondering what to say or where to start. "Look... Last night when you and Varian went to bed. Several villagers knocked on the castle's doors, and when Raps, Cass and I went down to check who would interrupt so late, they told us something horrifying. About some black and blue creatures with sharp teeth, and deadly sharp black rocks on their back. We gathered the whole gang, except you and Varian, to see what it was." Eugene paused a little before continuing.
"We were told that they had seen some on their way back from old Corona, and they had started chasing them. Luckily they weren't far away from the bridge at the time, but even so, only 21 out of 28 made it back safely to Corona."
You gasped in horror and held your hand up to your mouth. "How come the... Creatures didn't follow them into Corona?" You asked quietly.
"We've figured that they hate light. Even when it was dark, Corona was still lit up by lanterns and torches, which they didn't like. We also have a theory that they only appear at night. We don't know what they want or what their goal is, but we know it has something to do with the black rocks. We call them moon-dogs."
You had to sit quietly to take it all in.
"We think that if we stop the rocks, we stop the moon-dogs too," Eugene spoke. "Are you still ready on going out today? We'll walk as far as we can in daylight, and find a safe place to stay at night. At least one will keep watch, and we will have plenty of torches. And of course, I'll protect you. But you are more than welcome to stay here, where it's safe. At least for now."
You shook your head. "Are you kidding? And letting you go out there, trying to find a cure for the rocks without me? I have to make sure you don't do anything stupid. Besides, if Xavier gives us weapons, then what's the worst that could happen right?"
Eugene laughed. "Your so brave kiddo. But now, let's get down to Xavier and the others okay? We need to gear and feed you up before the journey."
You nodded, and Eugene went out of your room because you told him you needed to do something first and would come as soon as you could.
You stood in the exact middle of your room, closing your eyes. You raised out your hand in the direction of your night table, focusing. A yellow light filled the room, and in a flash, your necklace was in your palm. You grinned. You didn't need any weapon.

You walked down the hall on the way to the meeting room, not knowing how to feel. This mission had been serious business the whole time, with Corona's fate in our hands, but now it's also all of our lives that's at stake. Imagine if we all get killed on the mission, the rocks and the moon-dogs would reach Corona, and that's it. We're all dead.
Not to mention if we do get the ingredients, and then the potion doesn't work. But you were sure it will. You trusted Varian.
You opened the door and saw everyone inside in weird, but yet cool clothes and armor.
Andrew and Xavier were looking at a map, Varian was helping Eugene with getting some black boots on, and Rapunzel and Cassandra were talking: The girls were the first ones that saw you.
"Oh, hi (Y/n)!" Rapunzel happily exclaimed. She rushed over to you and put her hand on your shoulder. "Are you ready for adventure?"
You smiled and nodded, a little surprised how her mood has lightened up. Yesterday she was so out of hope, but now she seems like she had got some. That's good.
"I see you guys are too." You smiled, gesturing to their clothes. It actually looked kinda similar to their normal outfits, but the colors were a shade or two darker, and not so 'daily-looking'. There also wore a great armor-like thing around their chest and upper body. It was obvious that these outfits were made only for the mission. Great work Xavier.
"Indeed. It rocks right?" Rapunzel grinned and spun around. Cass just smiled and shrugged, going over to you.
"Eugene told you about what happened last night, right? This mission will be far more dangerous than we had first expected it to be." She spoke.
"I know." You sighed, then smiled. "But I'm ready to do whatever it takes to save Corona from those rocks... And dogs."
They both smiled, and then went over to Andrew and Xavier - Xavier was apparently drawing some red circles on the map, telling us where to go and where the ingredients were.
"I...Can't...Get...This...One...On- Oh! Would you look at that? Way easier than expected." You heard Eugene say. You turned around and saw Eugene sitting on a chair with the black boots, and Varian kneeling beside him, his face red, and out of breath.
"Y-yeah. Easy." He breathed. Then his eyes searched the room, and eventually fell on you. When he did so, he took a quick look at your body, and his face went even redder.
You rose your brows, looking down.
Oh.
You were still in your little, short, and yet comfy pajama. Well...
You took a breath, shaking it off, and went over to the boy. He was wearing some other clothes as well. He was wearing a dark-blue shirt, black pants, and a large brown belt, and some other stuff. He was actually looking good, despise his messy hair and bags under his eyes - but of course, he wasn't sleeping well, due to his father's death. He was actually doing pretty good, considering his loss. Well, if you don't count the problems with his memory.
"Hi, Varian." You greeted. He smiled in return, revealing his large front teeth.
"You look nice." You then said and the boy, once again, went even redder if that was even possible at this point.
He smiled and scratched the back of his neck. "Thanks (y/n). Has Xavier not given you, your clothes yet?"
You shook your head, turning around. And you jumped slightly when Xavier was right behind you. "Good morning (Y/n)."
He pulled you over to the table and showed you the map, gave you advise for when you were out in the forest, telling which plants and berries you could eat and which you definitely could not, telling you which animals you should run away from, and who were friendly, telling you what to do if you got away from the group, were near a moon-dog, and many other practical things like that - he had already told this to Varian.
Then he gave you your clothes. You were super excited and got in a room where you could change right away.
The outfit was mostly a dark shade of red. You had noticed that every member of the group wore a specific color. You had red, Raps had purple, Cassandra had Yellow/brown, Eugene had green, Varian had blue, and Andrew had grey. That was way too cool. You had noticed about the colors that they were just as dark so that you couldn't be spotted in the forest with the naked eye at night. Xavier had really thought this through.
You also had some kind of armor around your chest, protecting your heart, some long socks making sure your bare legs wouldn't get too cold, and a pair of black boots.
You put your hair in a ponytail and looked in the mirror. You looked awesome.
Then you took your necklace around your neck as the final dot. It didn't glow any color right now. That's good, otherwise, the others would question it. It was very close that Raps had done so yesterday.
The truth is that you had had it as far as you could remember. And you didn't know much about it. You were still trying to figure out the color thing. For example, when it shined yellow, you were able to use some sort of telekinesis. It was the coolest kind of magic that could ever exist according to you, and you had great plans of learning more about them on the mission when everyone else was asleep.
"Are you done?" Cass knocked on the door. You shook off your thoughts and went out to the others again. They all looked at you.
Eugene gave you a thumbs up, Raps clapped her hands, Cassandra nodded with crossed arms, Andrew thought about if your outfit was cooler than his, Xavier smiled proudly, and Varian stood a few feet away from you, running a hand through his hair.
"I know." You flipped your hair and made everyone laugh.
You had just gone over to Varian when Xavier called everyone over to the table. Everyone sat at their usual seats and waited for the man to speak.
He said something about what to remember when we were out on the mission and said that we had to be very careful, but had to hurry at the same time.
Then he spoke some more, and finally, he took off a blanket that had covered a part of the table, revealing a lot of different weapons. A lot.
"Wow." Everyone said in unison.
"Due to the events last night I figured it would be safer for you all to carry a weapon to defend yourself if a wild animal attack you, and in worst case a moon-dog. Pick wisely, and only one thing. We can't have you carry 5 heavy weapons each while walking around in the forest."
Some, and by some you mean Eugene and Andrew, hurried and picked 'the best weapon'.
Cass looked carefully at each sword in the pile, and eventually picked the one she thought was the best.
Rapunzel had just run out in the royal kitchen and came back with a frying pan.
And Varian had a bow and some arrows in his hands.
You looked around. You didn't really need a weapon, did you? You already had your necklace. But how would you explain that to the others? And what if you lost the necklace, or if it didn't work? Yeah, you were going to choose a weapon.
You looked around on each and every weapon. Should you take an axe? No, it was too heavy. A spear? No, too long... Bow and arrow? You looked at Varian again and saw that he had already picked it, and beside your archery skills weren't that good. A sword? Maybe... Or a dagger?
Then your gaze fell on a belt with several different and sharp shurikens. They were light, easy to travel with, and you used to take aim on something, and successfully hit it with a rock when you were little. Same shit, right?
So that's what you picked. And now you were completely ready for the mission.

~!-BONUS-!~
Okay so I drew some designs on these 'outfits' that the reader will wear on the mission, and I thought I might as well show it to you, so you'll get an idea of it. :)
-I also drew Cassandra's and Rapunzel's, for you to get an idea of what the characters look in this story! I didn't do the boys, sorry.
But yeah, here you go;
- yea, I drew these myself, an came up with the designs myself :)
Any feedback? Which outfit do you like the most? And should I draw the boys too?
