"We're going to be a team, the two of us, understand?"

"Please be out there, please be out there," you mumbled to yourself, as your cold hand rested on the even colder doorknob. You had used THE POWER OF THE MOONSTONE- to unlock the door, which actually was surprisingly easy (haha, didn't think about that one, huh, Varian?), and now all you had to do was open the door.

You couldn't believe that you were about to do this. You were really about to convince yourself for good, that you had a death wish. But this was the only thing that you could do, in order to make your plan work.

"Please. Come on, please be out there." You kept on saying, as you slowly opened the door. And as the light from the hall filled your room, you felt nothing but regret, and now some part of you was now praying that it wasn't out there.

But it was. You let the door wide open, standing face to face with a full-grown moon-dog. It growled at you, showing its long, sharp needle-teeth.

You shivered, as you took a few steps backward.

Luckily for you, there was only one. But that could soon change, and you needed the dog inside your room as soon as possible, before its friends joined you.

"Come on, little doggy. Nice and slow. Follow me." You spoke with a tempting dog voice, backing deeper into your room. For a moment, the dog just stood there, glaring at you, but then it slowly got closer. Its murderous, dark-blue eyes didn't blink. Not once.

Yes, you were crazy. You let a moon-dog into your room, where you had absolutely no weapons at all. But again, this was your only chance for your plan to work, and you would do anything in your power to save Corona, your friends, and Varian.

You picked up a ball from your bed - the one you had purpouslly placed there - and waved it at the dog. You couldn't see if the dog was paying attention to it, but you sure hoped so.

You threw the ball in the direction of your closet, as playful as you possibly could. You needed the dog to get further into your room, so you could close the door behind it.

But the moon dog didn't even inch. It kept staring determined at you, pridefully showing off its tooth set in an angry growl.

You silently cursed, as you kept backing away, very slowly. Your thoughts were screaming that it was all over and that you were going to be eaten alive, but you forced yourself to stay focused.

Onward to plan B.

You slowly kneeled down, getting down to the dog's level. You hoped that this would make yourself appear less threatening.

The bright purple light, shining from your necklace and reflecting in the dog's eyes, made it seem even scarier. You slowly breathed out, and you rose your hand.

The dog looked at it for a second. But not in a good way. The dog looked at your hand as its next meal. But you kept focusing. You closed your eyes, letting your necklace do the rest of the work.

You stretched out your arm, reaching for the moon dog. Slowly. Moon dog and moonstone, those two things have to have something to do with one another, right? Cause that assumption was the basis of your whole plan basically.

You breathed out slowly. You kept your eyes sealed shut, hoping for this to turn outright.

A/N: (Imagine the scene from How To Train Your Dragon. Y'know what I'm talking about)

And just like that, you felt fur touch your palm gently. You opened your eyes surprised and saw the moon dog sitting right in front of you. It was looking at you with confused, but harmless eyes, and its tail was wiggling from side to side.

Your necklace was burning hot. But it had worked. Somehow, it had worked.

"H-hey!" You breathed, relieved. You began petting the wolf, still very carefully. "You're going to help me, okay? We're going to be a team, the two of us, understand?"

One day later

*-With Varian-*

Varian was walking around the throne room in circles. He had a serious headache, and his fast steps echoed aggressively in the room. Shattered mirrors and windows, basically anything that he'd see his reflection in, were scattered all over the floor. He didn't know exactly what was happening, but it felt like something tore him up from the inside whenever he saw himself.

And it wasn't just his head that had begun hurting lately. It was also something in his chest, that he knew perfectly well was his heart, but didn't make sense.

He also caught himself thinking thoughts he shouldn't be thinking. Feeling emotions towards you, that he shouldn't be feeling.

He screamed aggressively into the dark, letting it all out. He couldn't have second thoughts. Not any.

Especially not now. Not the day before it all went loose.

He had made up his mind. He was going to finish his work tomorrow morning. And in order to do that, he needed you. He had given you so many chances to join him, and yet you still refuse to join him. He can't understand why. But that won't matter. When you see what he'd done to your friends, you'd definitely be willing to listen to him. You simply wouldn't have any other choice.

Varian ran his shaking hands through his black hair. And then it happened again:

"Your hair is so adorable" He heard your voice from inside his head. "And so messy."

Your laughter filled his head, as he felt your hands ran through his hair instead of his own.

Varian glipped his eyes, gasping. Anger rose inside of him, from the memory. It's not the only one he has gotten lately. What was happening to him? What the HELL were you doing to him!?

"God FUCKING DAMMIT!" He screamed on the top of his lungs, smashing his fists into the wall. He completely ignored the following and overwhelming pain that soon followed.

Right at that moment, he didn't understand anything. He hated you. Right? All of this was your fault. Well, partly your fault. Right? You have never loved him. You used him. You always have. Right?

He kicked a door open, leading into a long, dark hallway. He was going to check on you.

-

He fumbled with his keys. With hands as shaky as his, it was extremely difficult to make the key slide into the keyhole. But eventually, the door slide open.

He didn't know what he would do when he saw you. Threaten you? Due to the bad mood, he was in, that sounded weirdly tempting.

But then he saw you sleeping figure in your bed. For a moment he forgot why he was here, why he was doing all of this - to you, to the kingdom. But then the dark thought returned - revenge of course.

He walked forward towards your bed, leaving the key in the door. You laid there, peacefully. Heavy breathing. Your back was turned to him.

Once again, an overwhelming amount of different feelings hit him, as he saw you lie there in your vulnerable state, helplessly asleep. Anger. Sorrow. Need. Hatred. Disgust. Lust. Love?

No. Ew.

But one of the emotions was stronger than the others - at least that's what he convinced himself of.

Hatred.

He hated you. What you had done to him. What you were doing to him. Even now, when you were asleep. He hated you so badly.

He clenched his fists.

Great. His head was hurting even more now.

He sighed aggressively. Why did he even come in here?

He looked at you one last time before leaving, and that's when he noticed it. You didn't have your necklace on. Something was wrong.

His eyes winded as he turned around, and he saw your very face in the doorway. Everything in your face screamed "Uno reverse card, bitch" at him, before you closed the door. And locked it with his very own keys.

Guys, we're slowly reaching the end of this book. I think there's about 5 chapters left or something. Unless my weird-ass mind come up with something crazy that I have to add in this story, haha.

I'll make a chapter at the end of this book, that'll be about any future Varian x Reader books I will begin writing. I'll leave like 5 ideas or something, and you'll have to vote, because it's really important for me, that I'm writing about something that you actually want to read.

So please, use this as a place where you can leave suggestions about any future story ideas that you want me to write about! I wanna help make your dreams become a reality, even with my shitty writing :D

Like seriously, it could be AU's (Modern, soulmate, etc) or a zombie apocalypse universe, a book where the reader is a yandere, a princess a FREAKING DRAGON, and Varian is a stalker, a secret admires, or SECRETLY A ROBOT! A book where our characters go to Hogwarts, participate in the Hunger Games, ANYTHING! PLEASE!
