iv. bionic showdown
——
Freya, Leo, and Davenport were in the lab awaiting for Adam, Bree, and Chase to return from their mission. Ever since Freya has met them, she has never experienced their missions or seen them in their mission suits. She knows she won't ever go on a mission, but she enjoys hearing about them.
It wasn't to long after that the bionic teens came running in cheering.
Leo and Freya went up to them.
"Guys, that was awesome!" Leo beamed. "You just prevented the biggest oil spill in history!"
"Pretty slick, huh," Chase grinned, attempting to make a joke and Freya frowned.
"If only we could've prevented that disaster of a pun," Freya remarked and sat on the cyber desk as Leo went back to his desk.
"Hey, Mr. Davenport. Anything you'd like to say to us?" Bree asked Davenport, who approached them. "Rhymes with, 'good job'?"
"The answer's in the clue," Adam whispered to him.
"What were you guys thinking?" Davenport asked them.
"Nope. Not even close. Two more guesses," Adam said.
"You completely ignored my mission plan, improvised everything, and jeopardized the entire mission," Davenport exclaimed walking past them and the teens turned to him.
"Mr. Davenport, we bust our butts all the time." Chase protested. "And all you ever do is sit around the lab making lists of what we did wrong."
"I do not just sit around making lists of 'things you did wrong'." Davenport denied and Freya frowned, staring at the tablet he was holding.
"Then why do you have a list called 'things Adam, Bree, and Chase did wrong?'" Freya asked, pointing to the list she can see on his tablet. The teens glanced at her, before turning to their father with unamused expressions.
"He also practices Taekwondo in his tighty-whities," Leo added and Freya chuckled, nodding.
"They are not tighty-whities," Davenport defended. "They are breathable exercise briefs."
"That also happen to be white," Freya added and Davenport gave her a glare.
"Whatever they are keep your swinging high kicks away from my screen!" Eddie called.
Freya calls Eddie the annoying mosquito on the wall. He sucks all the fun out of everything. Like Chase, just more annoying.
"Look, you guys got lucky this time, but without my precise planning you're opening yourselves up for disaster." Davenport firmly berated them. "So just follow my orders."
"Well, maybe your orders aren't always right."
Freya looked at Chase in disbelief. She couldn't believe he said that.
Davenport froze and turned to Chase. "Um, excuse me?"
Adam groaned. "He said 'well, maybe your orders aren't-"
"I heard him!" Davenport snapped and Freya averted her eyes awkwardly as Davenport walked away.
"You could feel the tension in the air," Freya gently grabbed the air around her and Adam made a face.
"You can feel tension in the air? All I feel is oxygen."
Freya rolled her eyes, hopping off the cyber desk.
——
Dark chuckling was heard as the screen zoomed out to reveal Marcus watching the bionic teens, Leo, and Freya talk.
"I love watching them snap at each other," Marcus smirked and eyed Freya. "Whole team is falling apart. They seemed to have gained a brand new friend. I can easily take her out."
A hand grabbed the tablet and Marcus looked up to see Douglas Davenport. Donald's brother.
"I've seen enough. Marcus, it's time to reclaim what's mine," Douglas said and swiped on the tablet to a picture of Douglas and Donald standing in front of the 'Davenport Industries' logo.
"Let's go pay a visit to my big brother."
He slammed the tablet on the ground and walked away with Marcus following him.
——
~The Next Day~
Freya was packing her bag for school today. She had realized she had left her jacket at Davenport's house and quickly grabbed her stuff, before rushing out to get it before school. She thankfully lived right down the street from them, so it wouldn't take long.
Freya rushed over to the Davenport household and went inside to only see Leo.
"Hey, I left my jacket in the lab." She waved and Leo waved back, drinking his glass of milk.
"Mm!"
She made it down to the lab and wondered if Davenport was here.
"Mr. Davenport I left my jacket here, do you-"
Freya froze in her tracks when she saw the scene in front of her. Mr. Davenport was laying on the ground unconscious and standing there was Marcus and Douglas.
"Uh..." Freya swallowed nervously and Marcus turned to her.
"Oh look," Marcus laughed and Douglas turned around. "Blondie is here."
"Marcus?" Freya asked in confusion. She had met Marcus, but had mixed feelings about him due to Leo telling her bad things about him. I guess Leo is right.
"Hello Freya," Marcus smiled, walking up to her slowly. "Seems like someone else knows the bionic secret."
"Who are you?" Freya asked Douglas, who chuckled.
"You'll find out," he said and looked at Marcus.
"Get her."
Freya panicked and tried to run out of the lab, but got shot to ground by Marcus's laser vision. She landed on the floor unconscious and Marcus walked over, throwing her over her shoulder.
"The more the merrier," Douglas commented. "More reason for Adam, Bree, and Chase to fall into our trap."
——
~Douglas's Lab~
"Freya? Freya?"
Freya groaned, feeling her head pounding as her eyes opened. In front of her was Davenport and she let out a breath as she looked around. She was in a cage in a different place than the lab and sat up gently with the help of Davenport.
"What's happening?" She asked, rubbing her head and Davenport assisted her to her feet. "Where are we?"
"It's a long story. But this is my brother's lab. Douglas." Davenport told her and Freya frowned, remembering what happened.
"I saw Douglas before Marcus shot me," Freya mentioned. "I tried to leave, but he got me."
"I'm sorry this happened to you," Davenport apologized. "I will explain everything once Adam, Bree, and Chase get us out of here. Are you okay?"
"My head hurts, but that could just be from my time of the month or that I got shot by lasers," Freya shrugged and Davenport made a face.
"Ah, blondie woke up!" Douglas smiled as he walked in and sat at his desk. "You weren't originally part of the plan. But the more the merrier, am I right? Add the best friend into the mix that will get Adam, Bree, and Chase even more reason to show up."
"You know you'll never gonna get away with this." Davenport told him.
"Yeah, that's what you said when I stole $20 from dad's wallet. And guess what? I got away with it." Douglas did finger guns. "Boom!"
"Oh, no, no, no! You do not go boom!" Davenport protested. "I go boom! That's my thing! Boom." Davenport did the finger guns and then pretended to blow out the steam and put it away.
Freya rubbed her forehead with two fingers, sighing.
"Well, I guess I stole that too." Douglas remarked . "Just like you stole Adam, Bree, and Chase."
Freya frowned in confusion.
"I did not steal them! I was protecting them from you." Davenport exclaimed.
"What?" Freya asked, "stole them?"
"I found a way to use our bionic technology in humans, and you ripped it out of my hands!" Douglas snapped, going up to the cage.
"You were gonna make bionic soldiers and rent them out of here highest bidder," Davenport reasoned. "You were gonna use kids for evil purposes."
"You say that like it's a bad thing," Douglas frowned. "I could do it to blondie here."
"Leave her out of this," Davenport told him.
"I don't need bionics to be evil. I do that on my own," Freya scoffed.
"Just trying to meet the needs of my customers. It's not my fault they're all dictators and madmen," Douglas continued and the computer beeped. The three looked at the computer to see Adam, Bree, and Chase had arrived at the house. "What do you know? We've got company."
"Trust me. They will defeat you," Davenport warned.
"Oh! I'm so scared!" Douglas sarcastically said. "You forget I have a bionic weapon of my own." He pressed a button. "Marcus!"
Marcus ran out. "Is it time?"
"It is. Go welcome our guests." Douglas ordered and Marcus began to walk out. He smirked at Davenport and Freya, flashing them with his green eyes for a second before running out.
"Boom!" Douglas did finger guns at Davenport.
"You don't even do it right!" Davenport complained.
"Neither of you do it right!" Freya groaned, taking a seat on the ground.
——
"I wouldn't do that-"
Freya didn't get to finish because Mr. Davenport had touched the cage lasers and got shocked.
"Told you."
Freya had grown bored of sitting in the cage.
"For someone who kidnaps people, you are really boring at it," Freya criticized Douglas, standing up. "Where's the fun? Where's the torture? The only torture is this god awful music."
Douglas gasped at her words. "How dare you say that about jazz music."
Davenport shrugged, enjoying the music. "Yeah, for an unstable sociopath, your taste in music could be a lot better."
Douglas shut off the music. "You were in a boy band."
"It was not a boy band," Davenport protested. "It was an a cappella group that just happened to be made up of boys."
Freya raised her eyebrow at this as Davenport realized what he said.
"Did you have matching outfits and everything?" Freya chuckled and Davenport shrugged, looking away.
"Maybe..."
Adam, Bree, and Chase ran in.
"Freya! Mr. Davenport!"
Freya smiled at their presence, happy to see them.
"Finally! Some action!"
"Oh goody! Everyone's here! Party time!" Douglas laughed and Marcus ran in unharmed from his fight with the bionic teens.
"I've secured the perimeter. They're ours now."
"Mr. Davenport, what is going on?" Chase asked, walking up to the cage and looked at Douglas. "Who is this guy?"
"Who is this guy?" Douglas repeated. "Donny, you never told them about me? I am deeply offended. Adam, Bree, Chase... I'm your father."
Freya's eyes grew in shock. Adam, Bree, and Chase stood there in disbelief and turned to Davenport, who couldn't bare to look at them. His eyes were on the floor.
——
Leo was in the lab, standing there gobsmacked with his hands on his head.
"I'm so confused!" Eddie said.
"How are you not following this? You're a computer!" Leo asked.
"So, Marcus is bionic?" Eddie asked.
"Yes."
"And Douglas is Marcus's father."
"Yes."
"And now he says he's Adam, Bree, and Chase's father."
"Yes."
"But he's also Donald's brother."
"Yes!"
"Wow, so there's another Davenport?!" Leo nodded. "And he's evil? Ask him if he's hiring."
Leo rolled his eyes at Eddie.
——
~Douglas's Lab~
Chase looked at Douglas. "What do you mean, you're our father?"
"He's our father," Bree added, pointing to Davenport.
"No, that's what he's been telling you," Douglas denied, grabbing a remote.
"I don't know who you are, but you're going down," Adam threatened. Before Adam could attack, Douglas pressed a button and the three got teleported into the cage with Freya and Davenport.
"You mastered short range teleportation before I did?" Davenport asked in shock. "I've been working on that for years!"
"I know. I'm awesome," Douglas chuckled.
"You're still going down," Adam warned and tried to use his abilities, but couldn't. "My super strength. It's gone."
Bree tried to run and her super speed didn't activate. "So is my speed."
Chase touched his temple. "I got nothing."
"That's because I designed these lasers to block the signals from your bionic chips. That's right. Daddy gave you toys, but he can also take them away," Douglas faked pouted before laughing.
Freya folded her arms and sat down again, leaning her chin on her hand.
Chase knelt down to her. "You alright, Freya?"
Freya eyes found him and shrugged. "Been better. Didn't imagine my day would end up like this. But thanks for asking."
She patted his shoulder and Chase pressed his lips together, nodding.
"You're welcome."
As Chase stood up, her eyes scanned his new mission suit. She didn't mind the new suits. They looked pretty good.
He looked pretty good.
——
"Well, Marcus, we finally captured them," Douglas smiled at Marcus. "Actually, I captured them. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me."
Freya rolled her eyes, now seeing the resemblance between the Davenport brothers.
"You've got one of those too, huh?" Chase smugly asked Marcus.
"You have no idea," Marcus replied.
"Don't associate with the enemy," Freya whacked Chase's arm.
"Come on!" Douglas snapped his fingers, walking to the door. "We got work to do."
Marcus groaned, putting his hands out in irritation as he followed him.
"Mr. Davenport," Chase looked at Davenport. "Why did that guy say that he was our father?"
"Because, technically, he is your father," Davenport admitted. "And my brother."
"What?" Bree asked.
"How is that even possible?" Chase asked.
"Wait, so does this mean Chase is also my father?" Adam asked and Freya smacked her forehead with her hand.
"Years ago, Douglas and I started Davenport Industries together. It was great. We had a cute, little lab. Not as good as the big lab I have now, but the. We didn't nearly have as much money-"
"Get to the point! I'll make you touch those lasers again!" Freya threatened.
"Right. We developed bionics so that robots could do the jobs that were too danger for people but then Douglas went behind my back and implanted them into genetically engineered humans." Davenport finished explaining.
"You mean us?" Adam asked.
"No Adam. The Green Bay Packers." Bree sarcastically remarked.
"Your bionic chips were never designed to be interfaced with the human nervous system," Davenport continued.
"So, that's why we glitch," Chase nodded.
"Exactly."
"Oh. And all these years I just thought it was cause you're a terrible scientist." Adam mentioned.
"Douglas also high all kind of secret codes in your chips," Davenport added. "That's why you have all these mysterious new abilities popping up out of nowhere."
"So, if your brother created us, how did we end up with you?" Bree asked.
"He wanted to make you into cyber-soldiers of mass destruction but I knew that if I raised you in a safe environment I could train you to be bionic heroes. So I built the lab and hid you there." Davenport explained.
"Wow, so everything we've ever known about ourselves, about you, it's all been..."
"One big lie," Bree finished for Chase.
"Wow, this changes everything." Adam then gasped. "Am I Jewish?"
"Please tell me there's another unexpected twist to where I find out that I'm not related to him," Bree mentioned and Freya chuckled, standing up. She stumbled due to her butt getting numb.
"Oi, this one with futzing and the complaining!" Adam said in a fake Italian accent.
"Look, I wanted to tell you guys, but I figured the less you knew, the safer you'd be." Davenport reasoned.
"But we trusted you!" Chase protested. "I mean if you're lying about this, then who knows what else you were lying about."
"Exactly," Adam said and grabbed Davenport's hair.
"Ow!" Davenport gasped. "What're you doing?"
"He's not lying about the hair. Just looks fake," Adam told the others and Freya raised an eyebrow.
"Could be glued on," she said and Adam gasped.
"She's right!"
"Let go!" Davenport whacked his hand away, glaring at him.
——
Douglas walked over to the Davenports and Freya.
"Hello family. Hello blondie." He greeted.
"We're not your family," Bree protested. "Let us out of here."
"Yeah, you can't force us to be your cyber-soldiers." Chase told him.
"Actually, I can, Boy Wonder," Douglas said and Freya snickered, which made Chase hit her arm. "See when I created you, I installed my triton app on your chips and once it's activated, I'll control your bodies. And your minds. You'll do whatever I want. Whether it's start a World War, or some light housekeeping."
"Oh, no way. You cannot make me vacuum!" Adam yelled and Chase held him back.
"Why do you need us?" Bree asked. "You already have Marcus. And apparently a barber with a sense of humor."
"Marcus is just an android," Douglas nonchalantly shrugged, glancing at Marcus, who was recharging in his cell. "He's not sleeping, he's recharging." Douglas showed them the vitals and information about Marcus. "Trouble with androids is they burn out too quick. He won't make it to his 16th birthday. But don't tell him that, he thinks he's getting a car."
"Well, that's rude." Freya scoffed. "First you kidnap five people and then not care if your son dies?"
"Yep!" Douglas laughed.
The computer beeped and on the screen was Leo standing outside the house with a red wagon with weapons.
Freya gasped at the sight. "Leo!"
"Oh, look who showed up to be a hero!" Douglas grinned, sitting on the chair. "And this one's not even bionic. I can take him out with the sprinklers."
"No!" Freya yelled.
"Leave him alone! He's just a kid!" Davenport exclaimed.
"A nosy kid who keeps getting in our way!" Douglas frowned. "You're lucky blondie here was easy to capture. I could turn you into a soldier of my own."
"Don't even think of doing that to her," Chase warned.
"Stay away from Leo!" Bree warned.
"Don't worry, princess," Douglas assured Bree. "I'm not gonna hurt him."
He pressed a button and Marcus's capsule opened and he walked out.
"Marcus wanted that privilege all to himself," Douglas continued, walking up to Marcus. "Your little friend Leo is back. This time take care of him. For good."
"Done," Marcus smirked, looking at the Davenports and Freya. Douglas put his hand up for a high five, but Marcus ignored it and walked out.
Douglas looked up and then turned to Marcus. "Really dude? You're just gonna leave your character hanging like that?"
Freya watched as Marcus went outside to Leo and she covered her mouth as he used his bionics to destroy his weapons and then he blasted him away.
"LEO!" Freya cried out and turned away, leaning into the first person she saw. It was Chase
"No!" The others gasped.
——
Freya was distraught. She didn't know if Leo was alive or not. She was stilling leaning into Chase, feeling hopeless.
"Poor Leo," Bree sadly said. "He was trying to save us."
"He tried to warm up about Marcus and we ignored him," Chase sighed, rubbing Freya's back.
"When I get out of here, I'm taking you and Marcus down," Adam threatened Douglas, who was holding a device.
"Good luck with that," Douglas said. "Once I press this, it'll activate your triton apps, then I'll control you permanently."
"No!" Chase yelled as Freya moved over to Davenport.
"Stop!" Bree cried.
"Do Chase first!" Adam exclaimed
