*at benny's abandoned burger shack*

It was a rather cold morning in hawkins. And for some, it was the worst mornings of their lives. Teenagers from all around had had a party over at the old diner that git shut down a few years back. They use it for parties, get together, and even for a place to stay for the night. But Jason and the basketball team had stayed their all night after a big celebration of their victory game last night.

Lucas sinclair woke up with a hangover, projectile vomiting, a pounding headache and a sickening feeling from deep within him. Last night was the first time he'd been drinking, and this was his first hangover. And from what he felt from it, he wanted it to be his last.

Students that had accidentally slept there over night were seen walking out with limps and pale faces. Their cars and trucks were still parked on the drive and they left shortly after. But the basketball team stayed.

Jason:"you alright in there, sinclair?"

He knocked at the door, listening in as lucas threw his guts up.

Lucas:"I'm good."

He said, panting and gasping for air.

Jason:"your first hangover will make you feel like you want to split in two, but you'll live."

Jason left lucas to do what he had in the bathroom and went to go get himself some breakfast, or whatever there was in the cabinets. The TV had gone haywire and one of the basketball students was trying to move the words around on the TV to get a good signal.

The abandoned diner was covered in red plastic beer cups and smashed glass bottles. There was empty junk food boxes and bags scattered around in the weirdest of places.

Doyle:"come on."

Doyle stood up from his seat on the couch and started moving moving wires about and even slamming his hand on the side of the TV.

Adam:"just hit it, man. Just hit it."

You could tell he was fed up, he just wanted to see what everyone was fussing about on the news as it was the same thing on every channel.

Doyle:"okay, I got it."

He said with a sarcastic tone In his voice.

Doyle:"come on, you piece of shit."

Doyle was just too aggressive for his own good.

Adam:"see, there you go."

A news reporter appeared on the screen. It was the Hawkins news channel.

Reporter:"...is newly appointed police chief Calvin Powell, who served as deputy under chief Jim hopper."

Jim hopper. The best police chief Hawkins ever had. And it still stands today. None of the police chief and officers have accomplished anything since his death in the starcourt mall a year back.

Jason:"What's this? I thought we were watching thundercats?"

He walked over in front of the television with a bowl of cereal in his hands.

Doyle:"a Hawkins students been murdered."

It gave me the chills. It wasn't just Doyle. It was just the way he said it so casually like the death if a student from their own school didn't matter at all.

Jason:"what?"

His heart skipped a beat.

Adam:"yeah, it's on every channel."

And each time they flicked channels, it was the exact same video being broadcasted all over Hawkins.

Reporter:"as you can see behind me, chief powell and the Hawkins police department are actively investigating the scene..."

Jason:"did they say who it is?"

He seemed to be the inky civilised one there. Jason genuinely wanted to know who it was but the others didn't seem too fussed over it.

Adam:"nah, not yet."

Doyle:"hey, maybe chrissy didn't stand you up after all."

There are many reasons as to why I hate Doyle. I could list a bunch if them in fact, but the one thing I hated about him the most was when he was making jokes about something serious. For all he knew, he could've known the student who was murdered, yet he didn't seem the slightest bit bothered.

Adam:"Don't say that."

His eyes shot directly at Doyle with a disgusted look. Even Adam couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Doyle:"relax, it was a joke."

But in situations like these, jokes were not everyone needed to hear right now.

Doyle:"a joke? Come on, Someone just died and you're making a joke about It?"

Sometimes I wish people like Jason would realise how crappy his team was. He welcomed them as friends and yet he finds himself rolling his eyes at them at least once every day.

Doyle:"it was at the trailer park. It was probably some druggy who OD'd on heroin or some shit."

Not one bit of sympathy from Doyle. Not one bit.

Adam:"oh, see, that makes it funnier."

Jason put his bowl of cereal down on the kitchen counter and walked over the the boarded up windows. Police cars were driving all around Hawkins with their sirens on.

Doyle:"What's your your ass this morning? It was a joke."

And just like that, he was blaming it on adam for not taking it as a joke when all of this was serious. And then Jason caught a glimpse of the siren lights, two police cars parked on the drive next to their cars and Jason felt a lump build up in his throat. He was really panicking now. What if Doyle was right?

*at the Hawkins high school*

Nancy worked on the school newspaper with other reporters along with her. They were also listening in to the reports, and that's when that feeling returned. Since a couple years back, Hawkins hasn't been the same. No one here every remembers what it was like to feel safe.

They had police officers that couldn't cracks cases after hopper died.

They had security alarms fixed onto their houses because people couldn't get to sleep at night with the fear of it all.

And they had bodies upon bodies of unsolved murders. Murders that were covered up with stories based on "natural causes". But only few could see through their lies. They were Dustin, max, lucas, will and Mike. And they were only the main few.
