Ahsoka's pov
I left the cockpit to let Tech focus on his com link creation for Omega. Her excitement was infectious. I always get nervously excited whenever there's a new adventure. Ironiclly enough Bariss and Luminara are the ones who used to work closely with Cid the lizard woman. I remember when Bariss and I would used to gossip about her back when she wasn't trying to frame me for murder. Ah, good times.
"Are you sure we can trust him?" I heard yhrough the doors.
"Well the jedi trusted him."
"You mean the jedi who are all dead." I couldn't take it anymore. I opened the door and cleared my throat extra loudly.
"Oh! Uh.. Ahsoka! S-sorry." Tech muttered. I rolled my eyes and kneeled down by Omega.
"Come on. It's lesson time." She giddily nodded amd ran to our bedroom. She flung open the curtain and flung herself on my hamock and giggled. I laughed with her and climbed up.
"Hey Master."
"Yes Omega?" I asked her.
"When you were talking about Master Unduli I sensed your lying. Well partial lying anyways. I could tell you were only giving a small part of the story."
"Very perceptive, padawan." I shivered as flashbacks were thrown into my brain of that one miasion I had with Aayla Secura and Commander Bly. Then I saw Aayla's death as she was repeadetly shot to the ground, her former loving Commander now showed no mercy. I shivered again then snapped back to reality.
"So that's only part of the story then what's the whole story?" She asked. I didn't think I was ready to tell her yet. But I sharply inhaled anyway.
"Lately Omega I've been having some doughts about my teachings. I thought that perhaps if I brought Luminara back she could be a better Master than I could ever be. She could train you better than I ever could. Your strength in the force is growing every day and with great strength comes great responsibility. You need a responsible mentor to guide you and I'm not sure if I can be what you need me to be yet. Im barely an adult. I literally turned 18 a week ago." I could feel Omega's shock and hurt radiating through the force.
"Your leaving us? Y-your l-leaving me?" Her little voice cracked and went up an octave.
"No no Omega I would never leave you. I would just prioritize being a soldier over a jedi. Don't worry about it right now. We'll worry about it when we get to it okay? For now I have a surprise for you." Her frown turned into a small smile.
"What?" I could tell she was still hurt but she won't be after she hears what I have to say.
"Youve progressed so much over the past few weeks that I've decided today I will give you your very first light saber lesson." Her smile turned to an ear to ear grin.
"No way! Really!?"
"Yes Omega I'm serious. Here." I opened the curtain again. She hopped out and bounced on her toes. I removed my shoto saber and handed it to her. She squeals as she happily accepted it. Her thumb hesitated over the ignite button.
"Go ahead Omega. Ignite the blade." Her thumb grazed the button again but nothing happened. What's holding her back?
"I-I uh, would feel better if.." she looked dazed and unqble to complete her sentence. I sighed. I was really trying to not show my slight annoyance. Seriously What's stopping her?
"I would feel better if Hunter was here." If I was annoyed before I sure aren't now. Little Omega just wanted her dad to be here. But it's about that time to give her the oh so dreaded talk. The attachment talk.
"Omega, Hunter won't be here for every step of the way. You have to be able to do things on your own if you want to continue down this pa-" She gave me the big brown loth cat eyes. My soft smile betrayed me. I sighed and snorted.
"Fine you win this round."
"I win every round." My chuckling only increased. Hunter was right. My natrual sass really is rubbing off on her. And I like it. I knocked on the cockpit wall before the door opened automatically.
"Hey boys. Omega wants you to come to the main area. You in particular Hunter." All the other boys smirk but Hunter didn't pick up on it. He gruffly nodded and followed me out. So did everyone but Tech. When we left Tech did a fake cough in his elbow and said words that sounded remarkably similar to 'dad'. He covered it up with another cough. Once again Hunter was oblivious. Either that or he just didn't care. Maybe a little bit of both. When we reached her Wrecker was the first to react by gasping and covering his mouth.
"Omega! Why'd you steal Soka's laser staffs!?" Everybody facepalmed. Even Omega.
"No Wrecker. Just- just no." He looked at Echo confused.
"Wrecker she didn't steal it. I only gave her my smaller one, perfect for her height. Today's her first lesson in how to wield one. We'll start off small and simple." Then I turned to her.
"Think you can handle it?"
"Master, after the last few days I think i can handle anything." I smirked at her high level of confidence. Clearly she's never used any weapon before so this could very well be difficult for her.
"Go ahead Omega. Were all here for you. And we all believe in you." She grinned from ear to ear. Her grip around my light saber tightened. She lifted it up. She was about to activate it when Echo just had to be a di'kut and say
"Elbows higher." I swiftly turned around to glare at him. Unfortunately I turned to fast and my lekku slapped me in the face. Everybody laughed except for the responsible adults. Omega and I kept staright faces. I sighed and turned back to her.
"Are you sure ya want these crackheads here?" She giggled but nodded.
"Of course I'm sure. These crackheads are my brothers." My expression softened. She deeply inhaled and let out the breath. Suddenly her small face appeared to be split in half by the light blue brightness of my light saber blade. It was amazingly adorable.
"Good. Now the first thing you need to know is there are 7 main forms that the jedi order taught me when I was-" I stopped myself in mid sentence. I just did exactly what I vowed not to do.
"No. This is wrong. Omega I shouldn't be controlling or constricting your learnings. Learn however you want to learn. I'm gonna ask you something that my masters never asked me before. Omega, what do you want to do?" She hummed contemplatingly.
"I-I think I'm not quite ready yet. Just holding it is more scary then I thought it would be. Could we maybe hold off on the light saber lessons for a little bit?" Well I wasn't fond of that response. She already knows all the basics includimg how to properly wield the force without abusing it, unlike some people. And I saw her and Tech staying up til 3 AM reading all the holoarticles about the force that I showed him. If anything she knows more about the force than most. Tech opened the doors to the cockpit and we all walked in. Well I was walking in when a small hand grabbed my own. I looked down at Omega.
"Yes?" She gently took my other hand and dropped the light saber in it.
"I'm sorry I let you down Master. I-I just- I don't know. It's like you, your afraid you wont be a good teacher and I'm afraid I won't be a good student. I'm so sorry." I playfully rolled my eyes but she didn't take it as a joke.
"Omega look at me." She didn't listen. So I kneeled on one knee and cupped her little cheek in my hand.
"We all learn at our own pace but for now your doing great. You are a great student. You will never disappoint me."
"Thanks Ahsoka. Your a great master too." I mumbled a string of curses and no's but they were inaudible. They probably won't even let me go rescue Luminara so she's stuck with me anyways.
"Exiting hyperspace in 3.. 2.. 1." There was a small lurch before we steadied ourselves again. I walked in the cockpit and took a seat on Echo's arm rest.
"Coming up on Ord Mantel, landing on Spaceport Y." Tech stated matter of factly. I attached my shoto saber to my belt. I noticed it's getting a bit small in my hand. Maybe when I test Omega I could contruct a new saber myself. There was a small jerk for a split second as we landed. Echo lowered the ramp. Omega played with her new com device. I tried to ignore if but a laugh slipped out every once in awhile. As we walked through the streets of Ord Mantal I couldn't help but notice that it looked eerily similar to Pantora.
"You remember the rules?" Hunter asked Omega. She nodded and continued walking.
"Don't wander off, keep my eyes and ears on my surroundings, trust no one but my squad. Sounds simple enough." I snorted and simply patted her shohlder. She gets to be like me more and more every day.
"Wasn't simple for you on the moon."
"Yeah well that was a whole week ago. I've grown since then. Matured." I snorted again. This kid.
"Can't agrue with that."
"And what if you get in trouble?"
"First I disarm them, then use they're weapon against them." I had a proud smirk on my face but apparently everyone else was not amused.
"But not before I use my com device to give my location to Ahsoka... Or you guys too. Yeah." I chuckled and Wrecker hit my back.
"Well looks like we know who her favorite is." Everybody shrugged except Hunter who was glaring daggers at Wrecker. I kept walking until I ran into Echo's back. He softly smiled at me.
"This is the place." He confirmed.
"Charming." Oh god Tech why. I let out a huff and followed Echo into the alleyway. This place had obviously not been cleaned in a while. When Echo opened the door I wasn't surprised in the slightest. There were all sorts of aliens everywhere playing different games and betting different amounts of cash. It was madness.
"So which one of them is Cid?"
"Couldn't tell-"
"It's that one." I pointed to the green alien lizard in the corner of the room. They all looked at each other then at me and shrugged. Hunter walked up to her and appeared to be having a conversation with her that wasn't successful. Everyone else noticed too.
"Great plan Echo." Wrecker taunted from behind. I growled at him and he backed away. I smiled and walked up too Echo.
"Don't worry Echo. I have full confidence in both our instincts. I'm sure we are right about this." I tried to reassure him. It clearly helped a little but I spotted Omega breaking rule number 1: don't wander off. Omega walked right up to lizard lady who she also claimed was Sid. I ignored Hunter and the rest of the gang. Suddenly my com went off. Actually everyone's did.
"I found Cid." No shit. I think I'm the one who did that though.
"Were looking for some work." Hunter said the key words to her. She got straight into business.
"Follow me." We did as instructed and followed her to the back of her parlor.
"I had a good thing going with the jedi. Might still afterall." She said, eyeing me on that last part. My hands instinctively patted my light sabers. It just made me feel so safe. Probably because their the last things Anakin touched. I miss my older brother so much. But he doesn't matter right now. Only my new family does now. And my new family desperately needs some cash.
"So what's your deal, triple tailhead? You a jedi?"
"Eh. Depends."
"On?"
"Many things. The people I'm talking too, what mood im in, and most importantly what weapons I have available at the moment. So yes to you, I am a jedi." Cid blinked rapidly and just blankly stared.
"Well your certainly an orthodox one." I showed her my brightest fake smile and walked closer behind her.
"Funny." I replied in a low, dangerous voice. I met her two seconds ago and I already hate her. And I swear to force if Yoda or Obi-wan pop out of god knows where to tell me hate leads to suffering, then I ain't taking they're shit. To them, I am no longer a jedi.
"Well anyways let's get back on track here, princess." Did she just call me a princess? Oh hell no. But before I could argue she continued on.
"The jedi valued my insights. But now that they're all dead- well most of 'em anyways. The demand for my services has declined. Thanks to this new Empire." Okay I may hate the lady but she makes good points.
"Times change... for all of us." No kidding.
"No kidding. I've never had clone desserters come to me before."
"Yes well, we seperated due to a fundemental difference in ideology-"
"That's cute, you thinking I care. Cut to it amd tell me what you want." Echo wasted no time in plugging in.
"By all means make yourselves at-"
"Can it lady. Just tell us what we want and we'll be out of your hai- oh. My bad." I looked at her bald head and i couldn't help but think of Ventress. It's been awhile since I'veseen that old hag. I wonder if she died in the purge with Master Vos or is elsewhere too? Maybe she's still alive? Who knows.
"We encountered this woman on Pantora. Do you know who she is?" Hunter asked. She breifly shook her head no before explaining.
"No. But I know a bounty hunter when I see one."
"Well no shit! We already figured that out we need you to give us a name!" I snapped at the lizard lady. She was really starting to get on my nerves. And I literally met her 2 seconds ago.
"Alright alright, snipy much." I glared at her so intensly if looks could kill she'd be dead a minute ago. Snipy. Snips. No! No no no no no no no no!!! Now is not the time for a vision! I didn't notice but Hunter pulled my wrist and yanked me to the side.
"What the hell is up with you today!? Have you gone crazy!?"
"Does anyone ever say yes to that question?"
"You should!"
"Oh I'm so sorry for being me! What do you want me to say to that? Just that time of month I guess!? Its not my fault she's a jerk and needs to be put in her place." I finished my small rant. Hunger sighed and looked me in the eyes.
"Fine. I get what your saying. I'm not asking you to not be you. All I'm asking is can you tolerate her long enough to get Omega the help she needs? Please?" This time I sighed.
"Well when you put it like that... ugh fine. Just keep that son of a green bitch away from me." He let out a soft genuine chuckle.
"I'll try. Now if you'll excuse me." I nodded and shifted in my stance when the door opened to reveal everybody looking at us.
"Hey Princess I don't got all day. Get your ass in here." I gritted my teeth amd prepared to charge. However Omega knew me too well and used the force to drag Hunter in the room and shut the door at the same time.
"Okay. That just happened. Not sure if I should be mad or proud. Aaaaaaand now I'm talking to myself. Fantastic." I rolled my eyes at my won stupidity. Heh oddly enough that's what Fives used to say. Which reminds me I really gotta talk to Echo about that. I took a seat by the bar and ordered one small cup of Mantel Mix. After the first bite I knew I was addicted for life. This is the most amazing thing I've ever tasted in my life. Then again this is coming from a girl who's diet consists of ration sticks and water, so it's really not saying much. When they finally exited Cid's room and marched up to them but ultimately ran back for my mantel mix. Okay now I ran up to them and stayed there.
"Hey boys! And girl. So how'd things go?" Hunter just stared at me with his signature 520% done facial expression.
"You were right. Cid is a son of a lizard bitch."
"Why what's the mission?" I asked desperately begging for more details.
"We have to rescue a kid-"
"Sounds easy enough."
"-from zygerrian slavers."
"Oh not this shit again."
