"should i add more highlighter?" moonbyul's voice breaks the silence as she suddenly turns towards yuna, her movements swift, the abruptness startling the other girl. she narrows her eyes, a hint of annoyance flashing across her face. she arches her eyebrows, her tone clipped. "i think you have enough"

moonbyul nods and her gaze shifts back to the mirror, where her own reflection stares back at her with an almost ethereal glow. everything was perfectβ€” remarkably so. it was almost surprising she had managed to get ready without shedding stress tears or any type of frustrated outbursts. her dark hair lays straight, contrasting with the soft colors of the rest of the look, each strand meticulously placed.

the delicate harmony of hues between her dress and her eyeshadow seemed to enchance every feature, and of course, her signature eyeliner wing had to be a part of the look. the dress itself clung to her body like it had been carefully sewn for her, as if the icy blue fabric was designed to make her glow, highlighting every curve and every dip, and the elegance of her frame.

"okay how do i look?" moonbyul finally asks, standing up with a grace that only adds to her already striking appearance. she turns to face yuna once more, who remains sprawled on the bed comfortably, her posture risking to wrinkle the delicate fabric of her dress. moonbyul bit her tongue, fighting the urge to correct her or smooth out any possible creases, she knew yuna was quick to anger, and it wasn't worth provoking her over something so trivial.

yuna lifts her gaze, slow and deliberate, taking in moonbyul's full appearance. her eyes trail over every detail, absorbing the careful precision in the way the dress clings, the way the colors blend. her irritation fades, replaced by a quiet admiration, nothing escapes her notice as she silently appreciates the perfection standing before her.

"you look breathtaking" she finally speaks, so softly and sincerely moonbyul was taken aback for a moment. yuna watches as a soft smile appears on her sweet face, and despite the fact that she would often get the urge to kiss her face off, right now it was burning strong and bright within her chest.
moonbyul had to be some sort of angel.

just as moonbyul was about to open her mouth to return the compliment, a soft knock on the door slices through the silence, interrupting their moment. yuna rolls her eyes, well aware of who it might be.

moonbyul approaches the door carefully, still not fully used to the heels she was wearing, opening it slowly, revealing riki's tall figure standing in the hallway.

the two freeze in place for a good minute, both stunned by the other's appearance as they take their dear time to admire each detail.

he looked as handsome as ever in his grey suit, it had an oversized fit like all the clothes he usually wore, complimenting his broad shoulders. the first three buttons of his white shirt were left undone, exposing a tantalizing sliver of his chest. his hair fell on his forehead in a way that made him look like nothing less than a disney prince, and moonbyul could smell the bleu de chanel from where she was standing.

the sight of moonbyul in that dress had undeniably knocked the air out of riki's lungs. moonbyul always looked beautiful, but tonight, in his eyes, she looked indescribable, because every possible word he could have used would be an understatement compared to what he had laid his eyes upon.

"god i am not worthy" riki blurts out in a whisper, clearly thinking out loud, only realizing when an endearing giggle leaves moonbyul's mouth, making his cheeks instantly flare up. "ah- y-you look very pretty" he says nervously, hoping that she would just let his previous statement slide.

"thank you riki" she cooed with a charming smile and riki felt weak in the knees. one thing's for sureβ€” if she smiled at him like that once more, chances were the big man was going to faint. moonbyul didn't know why, but liked the sight of his blushed cheeks. he always tried hard to not display other emotions beside irritation, but matter of fact, he was an open book, or maybe he just couldn't control them around her.

"shall we go?" he suggests, his tone an edge of excitement and moonbyul nods enthusiastically, linking her arm with his as they walk down the hallway and out the campus, to the car that was waiting for them outside.

the venue was dazzling, the decorations were lovely and the atmosphere was bustling with life, everyone seemed to be delighted to be there, to be getting along, to be having the time of their lives. everyone sways happily to the rhythm of the music blasting through the speakers, screaming the lyrics of every song at the top of their lungs, without a care in the world.

that's how the majority of the night passes. until a slower melody fills the room, the cue for every one to grab their partner and lead them to the dance floor, and for every guy to finally make a move and ask the girls who had been turning their worlds upside down to dance.

moonbyul raises her head when a hand extends expectantly towards her, her gaze meeting riki's shy smile and his pleading eyes. "will you concede me this dance, m'lady?" he asks charmingly and moonbyul chuckles at his antics, taking his hand without second thought. "of course i will" she holds eyecontact with him before he breaks in a full grin and takes her to the dance floor.

riki's hands find her waist and moonbyul's arms fall around his neck. he can't resist the urge to pull her a bit closer, just enough so he could feel her warmth, holding her as if someone might take her away.

she looked aphrodisiac in the dim light, the intimate and romantic atmosphere is charged with tension as his enamored eyes tell her everything he can't say out loud. he drinks up her featured one by one, realizing that no matter how many times he looks at her, he could never ever get enough.

her starry eyes, her galaxy freckles, the soft full curves of her mouth. he always ached to have her closer, but now that he did, he was aching to kiss her.

his fingers caress her waist, wishing for time to stop only for a moment, only for them, so riki could sway on the dance floor with moonbyul a bit longer, so he could have an excuse keep holding her this close.

just like that, riki finally got to dance with moonbyul at the winter formal. his mind wanders to how unlucky the book riki was, because to him, this was the best feeling ever, and he would give up every sunset to live this moment all over again, to melt under her tender gaze, to bury himself alive in her earthy eyes. and if the multiverse is real, he wishes to meet her in every lifetime.
