"Boo!"
"What are you doing up there, beautiful Vena?"
"Some of the children were doing it, thought it might've been fun. It really is, you should try it sometime." I shrugged. "Though, I really don't know how to get down."
"That's because you're hanging upside down on a tree." Druig chuckled and helped me get down. "There's a meeting now. I was sent to find you."
"I know, why do you think I was on a tree? I don't want to go." I sighed leaning back on the tree. "I'm sorry for my small outburst the other night. I wasn't feeling like myself."
"You had a long day and Ikaris took the praise for your fighting, as usual. I expected a much bigger outburst like last time." He shrugged and I rolled my eyes. "Those trees were burning for ten days, beautiful Vena."
"I know what happened, I caused it. Thena, Gilgamesh and I disappeared for a day or two so I could blow off some steam. Makkari was the one who found us." I smiled softly at the memory grabbing my bag and started to make my way to the Domo with Druig next to me. "Ajak sent you?"
"More like Makkari. Ajak sent Ikaris, but considering he's probably the last person you want to see, Makkari suggested that I went." He shrugged clasping his hands behind his back. "Why do you always carry that around?"
"Right, I haven't showed you!" I smiled and rummaged through the bag excitedly and handed him rolls of papyrus. "I've been making notes! Every single day and night, I walk around and write down everything I see and ways to improve. Maybe their future generations can find it and it'll help them evolve."
"You truly are something else, beautiful Vena." Druig smiled and I nodded taking back the papyrus when I noticed a couple fighting next to us.
"This is the thing I hate about humans. So much conflict, even within the people they claim to love." I sighed and Druig lifted his hand but I stopped him. "Let me, I know how to handle it."
"You don't have mind control, Vena." He pointed out and I smirked.
"Watch me." I said as I lifted my hand as my eyes turned rose gold and in a second, the couple were all over each other in kisses and seductive touches and ran away. "See?"
"So that's your other gift? The power of seduction?"
"It's a curse, so I choose not to use it. But he was about to hit her." I shrugged as my eyes changed back to normal. "Don't tell Ajak."
"Your secret's safe with me. Who else knows?" Druig asked.
"Thena, Ajak, and now you. I'd like to keep it that way. Please?" I begged and he nodded making me sigh in relief.
"It's safe with me, beautiful Vena. Don't worry."
...
"Well look who's finally here! The goddess of beauty, Hathor!"
"Shove your arrogance up your ass, Ikaris. At least the humans consider me a diety, they see you as a demon." I shrugged sitting down on a table in Phastos' lab and tied my hair in a clip that he gave me earlier today.
"Maybe it's because you probably seduced them to see you as such." He smirked and I snapped my head at him. "Ajak told us about your 'secret' power."
"Ikaris, that's uncalled for." Thena defended and stood next to me. "She doesn't use it."
"Why have powers and not use them?" Sprite asked and I scoffed.
"Because it's a curse, Sprite. I hate it. Having the ability to seduce every single being I want into doing my bidding? That's power nobody should have." I explained and Ikaris snickered. "Oh, I bet you would just love to have these powers, huh? Maybe that way Sersi will finally-"
I was cut off by Ikaris grabbing me by the neck and pushed me to the wall with his eyes glowing.
"Oh, now we're getting some emotion out of you! I was starting to think that Phastos made a robot a thousand years ago and it turned into you!" I laughed feeling him apply more pressure. "Go on, I dare you."
"Ikaris, that's enough. Let her go." Gilgamesh called out but he didn't move a muscle.
"I could do it." He growled and I smirked as my eyes glowed rose gold.
"What's stopping you, then? Let's just see how strong Ikaris really is... Do it." I taunted and he squeezed my neck tighter. "Still weak."
"Ikaris, that's enough!" Druig exclaimed and I watched as his eyes turned gold as well. "Let her go."
"Why don't you come here and make me, Druig?" Ikaris spat. "Or maybe let's let little Vena seduce me to let her go, huh?"
"You wish I'd seduce you." I scoffed and kneed him in the groin. I grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back and threw him towards Sersi. "Either you control him, or next time it'll be more than just a simple hit."
"Vena, are you okay?" Thena asked rushing towards me with Makkari and Ajak.
"That was fun and slightly arousing. For him, not me." I teased and Thena pursed her lips stifling a laughter. "Now, what's the meeting about? Before Ikaris comes and starts yet another argument with me."
"You're the one who always starts them, Vena." He spat and I scoffed.
"I finish them." I pointed out. "Just like I started, and finished those Deviants. But you had to go ahead and take the credit like always, huh?"
"Vena, that's enough." Ajak scolded me and I rolled my eyes. "The meeting is about you."
"I did absolutely nothing! Druig can vouch for me, I was literally hanging upside down on a tree a few moments ago!"
"You're distracted, more than usual. We may live amongst them, but we-"
"Mustn't get in the way of their conflicts. I know, I know." I grumbled crossing my arms. "I'm not distracted, Ajak. I spotted the Deviants while all of you were minding your own business, did I not?"
"You're letting the humans distract you." Ikaris smirked and I had to be held back by Thena and Makkari while Sersi and Sprite held back Ikaris.
"No, no. Let her act. I wanna see." Kingo smirked crossing his arms.
"Kingo, don't encourage this." Makkari signed and rolled her eyes. "Though, it might be pretty fun."
"She gets it!"
"How is she acting distracted, Ajak? All Vena does is observe and help them adapt. She was the first to spot the Deviants. If it weren't for her, they would've killed the humans way before Makkari sensed something." Druig spoke calmly and made his way towards me.
"Let's see then." Sprite smirked and started to rummage through my bag.
"You brat! Give me that!" I yelled and pushed her away with my powers.
"Vena, that's enough!" Ajak yelled at me and I groaned.
"It's Sprite's fault! She always has to stick her fingers in everybody else's business! For the love of the Celestials, just mind your own business one day, Sprite!" I yelled and lunged towards her but Gilgamesh had me in a death grip.
"Vena, I think it's best if you spend some time away from the humans. You have to focus on the task at hand." Ajak tried to reason with me.
"How is that a good idea, Ajak? She cares for the humans and does a great job protecting them. At least she tries to communicate with them. Vena was the first one to introduce them to simple inventions and now they have pyramids and a proper government. I really don't see how keeping her away and locked up is a good idea." Makkari signed and scoffed.
"We're here to protect them. Nothing more." Ikaris butted and I glared at him.
"If you don't want Vena to kill you, shut up." Kingo rolled his eyes and gestured to Sersi. "You're uncharacteristically quiet, Sersi."
"Well... we don't see Vena all day except for feasts and when we fight the Deviants. She has to practically be dragged to these meeting and-"
"Because you people always have to attack me in some way! And because all I want to do is slap Ikaris' stupid smirk." I spat out and Ikaris smirked. "See? Stupid!"
"You're such a child, Vena."
"Bite me, Ikaris."
"Enough, both of you! Vena, as much I don't want to this, you're gonna have to stay here until you get your head back on the mission." Ajak sighed as Gilgamesh let me go slowly.
"Right, just be a good little soldier and follow Arishem's orders, huh? Like Ikaris?" I scoffed grabbing my bag and left the room.
"Vena-"
"Druig, you're good company to have around. But right now? I just want to be alone with my thoughts, okay?" I sighed and opened the door to my room which was full of human artifacts that Makkari got me back in Mesopotamia and when we arrived in Egypt.
"I was going to say that you left your papyrus back there. You wouldn't want Sprite meddling in your business." He smirked handing me the papyrus and I sighed. "It's only going to be for a little while, beautiful Vena. No need for you to frown."
"It's just not fair. I just want to help them be the best versions of themselves." I mumbled and laid down on the bed and looked up at Druig who was leaning on the doorway. "Do you think it's fair?"
"You just want to help them. You care for them way more than any of us, Vena. So no... it's not fair." He shrugged. "I'm on your side here."
"Thanks, Druig. I just want to be alone for a while, okay?"
"I'll see you later, beautiful Vena."
