Catalina's POV:

It was in the late afternoon almost sundown when I was with Mother preparing dinner

When Mother told me that it was ready we decided to tell Corinne that dinner was ready

We exited our home and walked to the farm where Corinne was likely that she'll be training as always

I too have been training just like Corinne as we remembered what Father had taught us before he passed away from performing his duties as a musketeer

Ever since he taught us about what being a musketeer is about, Corinne and I had begun dreaming about being one ourselves and being more than what a girl is about

My mother and I smiled as we watched Corinne launch herself into the air, swinging high, letting go, and tucking her legs in before landing. She stumbled backward and fell into the haystacks.

She shook her head to remove the hay from her forehead then used her right hand to take the hay off her

"You need a bit more height..." Mother started earning Corinne's attention after she opened her eyes

"if you want to stick that landing." Mother finishes, her right hand extending outwards in an offering gesture

While Corinne watches us walk toward her

I smiled walking towards my sister "She's right Corinne," I said helping my sister get up as she appreciated it

"Thanks, Catalina." Corinne thanked me before she watched me getting on top of the haystacks where she was at

"Let me try using Mother's advice.." I smile grabbing the rope

As Mother and Corinne watch me with concerned expressions especially when I'm wearing a dress

"Careful Lina," Corinne says that Mother too was scared

When I smiled at them appreciating their worried concerns, I jumped to grab the rope launching myself to get more height and I did before letting go, tucking my legs and I made the landing near Rine and Mother without landing

She and Mother sighed in relief when I smiled "Just like that"

"I hope you're right, but I'll get it next time," Corinne says

When Mother chuckled before speaking "You're both determined, just like your Father." She places her hands on her hips

"And I'm going to be a musketeer like him too," Corinne tells her

"And so am I, we want to be musketeers to cherish his passions, and his legacy, Mother." I agreed when Corinne touched my shoulder in a sisterly manner

Mother looked up, sighing then looked at us "Being a musketeer is a serious job. and it can be very dangerous." Mother informed us

Corinne shook her head "I've been waiting my whole life for this." Corinne remarked

"I'm 17 now and we agreed that when I agreed that when I turned 17 I could go to Paris to be a..." Corinne reminded Mother of their agreement

"musketeer." Mother remembered her shared agreement

Mother sighed and looked at me "I suppose that you want to go with your sister, Catalina." Mother assumed

I looked at her pleadingly "May I mother please?" I asked her

Mother sighed hesitating when Corinne spoke, "I'll be with her, Mother, the whole way through..."

Mother sighed, and rolled her eyes "I know..." Mother closed her eyes

Where Corinne and I looked at her with concern and worried

Mother looked at us "Alright Catalina, if I let you go to 'Paris' with your sister would you promise me that you'll be with her and listen to her?" Mother asked me

Where I nodded at her promise "I promise Mother, with all my heart." I reassured her

"Then I suppose you two'll need this." Mother presented us with a letter with a red seal

"It is a letter to Monsieur Treville." Mother explained

Corinne accepted the letter. "The Captain of the Musketeers." Corinne gasped as I looked at Mother

"He was a friend of your Father's. I've asked him to look after you two." Mother explains more with her hands on her hips

"And here are 15 crowns. " Mother finishes, handing me the pouch of all of her money

Where we gasped at this "I wish it could be more..." Mother, looks down nodding

"Mother we can't....." I frowned

"Catalina's right, you need the money." Corinne agreed, frowning

But Mother halted us by gesturing with her hand towards the pouch.

"You both will need it in 'Paris'" Mother told us before raising her hand in our horse's direction in the stable

"And I want you two to take Alexander with you," Mother instructed, as Alexander gazed at us. We turned to see our horse, with Miette perched atop the stable door.

"He knows the way." Mother added as Alexander and Miette looked at each other and then looked back at us who hugged Mother

"Thank you thank you." Corinne thanked her

"Thank you so dearly much Mother" I thanked her

Then we ended our hug when Mother side hugged Corinne as we looked at her

"Let's eat then off to bed you two..." Mother instructed as Corinne, Mother, and I started walking back inside our home

"You and you Catalina have a big day, tomorrow." Mother smiled as we continued walking

We walked back inside to enjoy our meals then when it was nighttime, Mother bid us goodnight where me, and Corinne walked to our own rooms

"Goodnight Cat." Corinne smiles at me

I smiled at her as well "Goodnight Cor." I said then yawned

Once in my room, I climbed into bed, blew out my candle to extinguish the light, and fell asleep.

I'm filled with anticipation for tomorrow when Monsieur Treville will assist Corinne and me in becoming musketeers, just as our father once was.

The Next Morning:

Today marked the beginning of Corinne's and my journey to the city where, under the guidance of Monsieur Treville, we would strive to become musketeers.

I had changed my outfit for our journies together

My Outfit:

I smiled heading outside of our home where I saw Corinne walking towards Mother who was making sure that we had everything set for our journey

Corinne smiles seeing my dress "Pretty dress Catalina." She complimented my dress

"Thanks, sis." I thanked her as I smiled

We walked towards Mother before Corinne petted Alexander and I smiled at our horse

"We think that's everything," Corinne told her, smiling

Then Mother gave us a smile, walking towards us to give us a hug which Corinne and I hugged back

"Goodbye Mother." Corinne and I said in unison, hugging her as Mother closed her eyes

When the hug lasted more than a minute Corinne and I opened our eyes and realizing

"Um Mother, you can let me and Catalina go..." Corinne muttered

Before Mother pulled herself out of the hug

"Do I have to?" Mother questioned, her hands touched our cheeks, smiling

Then she let go and gave us a piece of advice "You two must be brave. Remember what your Father taught you two?" Mother asked

We smiled remembering vividly what our father used to tell us

"'True courage is...'" Mother started glancing at the sky and then at us

"'Pursuing your dreams even when everyone else says it's impossible'" Corinne and I recited in unison as we glanced around and then back at her

Before Corrine helped me up then got herself up and we soon rode Alexander together as Corrine held his reigns

Corinne looked back at Mother "We'll make you proud." She says

Before we smiled and began waving at her when we received a wave back

Then we looked forward as Miette was behind me

I smiled placing Miette in front of me making her between of me and Corrine

"Come Miette, we're going to 'Paris'," Corinne says then looks forward and flicks the reigns to motion Alexander to trot more

Soon Corinne and I were off traveling to the city then gave Mother one last wave
