Dream POV
The days go by slowly.
Food, torture, loneliness.
I begin to think Y/N left me.
My one true friend I have left.
Gone.
Because of me.
I've lost count of the days since I haven't been able to mark my calendar. I hope that it's been less than a week so I can hope that Y/N will still return but I have a burning feeling inside me, that tells me she's not.
The lava falls again and I stare at the ground numbly. Ready to take any pain. The words echo in my head.
Stay strong Dream
Stay strong
Stay strong you muffinhead
"Dream?"
No, it can't be. It has to be a dream.
"Y/N?" I blink and squint through the haze of the lava.
She rushes towards me and hugs me through the chains.
"Dream? What has happened? Did Sam do this? Are you okay?" Her questions tumble but I don't have the strength to answer.
She unlocks my chains and holds me up against her.
"Dream I'm sorry," she says and I feel her tears on my face. "I didn't think Sam would be this cruel."
She pulls me against her until she's leaning against the wall with me in her lap.
"Here," her fingers fumble for a potion bottle and tip it down my throat. She pulls out a second bottle and helps me drink it as well. I shudder and close my eyes.
When I wake up, I find my wounds bandaged and leaning against something soft. I'm sleeping on the pillow with the blanket around me. Y/N sits beside me, stroking my hair.
"Dream," her voice is like a spell that runs warmth through me.
I reach towards her and she catches my hand and presses it against her lips.
"Why did you leave?" I ask.
She smiles and hands me 4 golden apples and 6 golden carrots and nudges me to eat.
I slowly eat the food as she tells me what happened.
"I left to escape, to clear my head. I was just stressed and worried so I decided to flee, to run. But it only ended up hurting you. I'm sorry, I won't leave you without telling you again."
I slowly finish the last carrot and crawl onto her lap so my head rests on her chest.
"What did Sam do?" she whispers. I can hear the anger in her voice.
"He thought I had something to do with your sudden break. He complained that now it was even more short of guards and blamed me for it. He chained me to the wall and beat me. I was fed raw potatoes and only Bad came to see me. Bad seemed angry with what Sam was doing but Sam got really pissed at him too so Bad had to leave."
"Dream," Y/N says softly. "I want to get you out of here."
"What?"
"I believe you have been in here long enough and the conditions are terrible. I'm going to try and convince Sam to release you."
"Really?" I whisper.
"Yes," she plants a kiss on my forehead.
"What if he doesn't?"
Her face darkens.
"I'll try my best but if he doesn't agree, I'll have to think of something else."
"Okay."
I hug her tightly and she smiles at me.
"I missed you so much you have no idea," she says.
"I missed you too."
I eventually fall asleep in her arms and find her shaking me awake.
"Dream, I have to go talk to ask now," she says.
"Okay, just please don't leave me again."
"I won't," she promises.
I watch her walk across the bridge and lower the lava curtain.
Thank god.
I know Sam won't agree.
She knows that too.
What is she going to do?

Y/N POV
I swiftly move through the prison until I find Bad and Ant yelling at Sam.
"How could you do this to him, Sam?!" Bad shrieks.
"We're supposed to keep him in here, not torture him to death!" Ant yells.
"Sam," the guards turn to face me.
"What is it Y/N?" Sam says tiredly.
"I think Dream's suffered enough in prison.
I think he should be released."
"WHAT?!" Sam roars and stands up.
Bad claps his hands and points toward me.
"I agree."
"WHAT?!"
"That actually sounds fine with me," says Ant.
"HAVE YOU ALL LOST YOUR MINDS?!" Sam yells.
"Sam!" I scream at him. "You claim that we're here to keep Dream in. Yet before I got here, you had him chained up so he couldn't even move! You feed raw potatoes every day, just enough for him to "survive"! You let Quackity in here whenever he wanted to torture Dream! When I was here, I tried to make it better for Dream, let him go outside, use the showers, fed him better food, and stayed with him to talk! When I left, you chained him against the wall and tortured him!"
Ant gasps.
"Sam, is this true?"
Bad nods.
"I can't risk anything with Dream," Sam bangs his fist angrily against his desk. "He's dangerous and manipulative. Anything he can use to get out, he will."
"These aren't security issues Sam! These are just pure inhumane!"
"Sam, Dream is surely going to come after us when he escapes. We're just putting targets on ourselves," Ant points out.
"He won't escape," Sam hisses. "We'll make sure the security is tight and Dream will be confined to his cell. I'm not letting him free, you have no idea what he'll do. That's my final word."
I clench my fists angrily.
So we're going this the hard way.
Fine by me.
Bad shakes his head disapprovingly.
"This is wrong Sam," he says.
"You know what's wrong Bad?" Sam shoots back. "You being a guard here! You can't sympathize with the prisoner! Have you forgotten what he did? He deserves this! You're so weak and you always believe people can be good! Dream has no good!"
I see the tears well up in Bad's eyes.
Ant storms over to Sam.
"How dare you yell at Bad! You know what?"
He slams his keys onto the table.
"I'm done being a guard here! Do this on your own!"
He wraps his arm around Bad who is sobbing and leads him out of the prison. I follow them.
"I'm sorry Bad," I say rubbing his arm comfortingly.
Bad sniffles.
"Iβit's okay, hβhe was jβjust stressed
thβthat's all," tears roll down his face and he wipes them away.
"Ant can you please take him home to spend time with Skeppy?"
Ant nods.
"Come on Bad."
He leads Bad away and I stare at the prison.
I'm breaking you out Dream.
Whatever it takes.
