realizing that there was nothing they could do to reattach his penis (which no one saw a problem with) and now Dory found herself laying on a gurney next to Meredith while Cristina and Alex sat on the one beside them and George stood at the vending machine.

"My head hurts," Alex complained as Dory rested her face on Meredith's lap who had the penis in the cooler beside her. "Maybe it's a tumor." Cristina spoke up, her voice too hopeful.

"You wish." Alex rubbed his head, trying to relief some of his pain while Meredith played with Dory's curls, wrapping them around her fingers.

"Look, I'd rip your face off if I got to scrub in," Cristina took a sip of her coffee when Izzie walked up to them, sighing as she picked up Dory's legs and sat down on the bed, "I had to send away my Chinese lady." She said as Dory turned to face her.

"I understand Chinese," Dory spoke up as the blonde gasped, "You said you couldn't speak Chinese!" She slapped Dory's leg as the dark-haired woman whined, "I don't know how to speak it, but I understand some,"

"Are you dumb?" Cristina looked down at Dory whose mouth fell open, "I have an IQ of 180 but to answer your question, I'm very dumb." She sighed as Meredith softly scratched her head, something that seemed to soothe her.

On the edge of the gurney, George fell down beside Izzie, "Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing?" Everyone but Alex raised their hand, even Dory did it for a second before her arm fell down. "Are we supposed to be learning something? Because I don't feel like I'm learning something!" George whined, leaning back into the gurney.

"Except how not to sleep," Izzie held a bag of gummy bears out to Dory who took a few and placed them on her stomach, splitting them into little groups of colour.

"It's like there's a wall and all the attendings and residents are over there, being surgeons and we're over here..." Cristina started as Meredith finished her thought, "Suturing, code-running, lab delivering penis minders."

"I hate being an intern." Alex said what everyone was thinking.

"My parents made being doctors look so cool," Dory let out a groan, shoving a red gummy bear into her mouth as Cristina looked over at her, "Are you inbred?"

Dory nodded, having forgotten that she had never mentioned that that her parents were also in the same field as her, much less that one of them worked at this hospital. "I was raised by doctors and lawyers," Dory took another red one, planning on finishing all the red ones before moving onto another colour.

"God, you two are so lucky." Cristina looked from Meredith to Dory before her gaze went to Bailey who looked less than impressed by her interns. She stopped at the door, placing her hands on her hips as the group rushed to their feet, Dory trying not to mess up her gummy bears as they all ran to different directions.

With nothing else to do, Dory found herself in one of the on-call rooms, lying beside her dad as he listed of all the reasons why she should not move out. "You can scrub in on all my surgeries." He said as the woman pressed her face into her pillow, she just wanted to get some sleep, why was he torturing her like this.

"That would be bribery and nepotism," Dory mumbled into her pillow as he rolled his eyes. He had asked her to come with him to Seattle, not just to get away from her mother, but so they could have some time to bound. They hadn't been this close since Dory was still in high school and lived at home with him and Addison, he just wanted some more time with his daughter, it wasn't a crime.

"I'll stop using your shampoo." Derek offered and before Dory could give her retort, the door opened and again, it was Izzie on the other side. "I'm sorry to interrupt, Dr. Shepherd," If it were another time, she would wonder why they were sharing a bed but right now that didn't matter. "But I need Dr. Noelle's help with something," Izzie watched as she rolled over the man beside her, grabbing her coat as she pulled it on.

"Think about what I said!" Derek called as Dory slammed the door shut, "What's up?" The dark eyed girl asked as Izzie led her out of the hospital and into the rain, Dory using her coat to cover the blonde.

"She came back," Izzie looked over at Dory who was getting drenched in the rain, but she didn't seem to mind, "Good, I've been teaching myself some Chinese," Before Derek had decided to interrupt her, Dory had been teaching herself the basics.

"Why are we outside?" That was the next thing Dory asked her as Izzie led her away from the hospital and to where the trash was kept where two women sat. "She won't come in," Izzie told Dory who looked from her to the young woman with the wound on her head, she said something that Izzie didn't understand as the bleeding woman responded.

Dory froze for a second, "Go get a suture kit," She told Izzie, watching as the blonde woman furrowed her brows, still in the dark about the whole thing. "We have to get her inside, that wound looks deep," Izzie argued, trying to get Dory to convince the woman of that but Dory just shook her head, raindrops falling from her eyelashes to her cheeks, "She can't go inside, Iz, you need to get the kit."

"But I don't understand," Izzie removed the woman's jacket from her head, wrapping it around the bleeding woman as she looked back at Dory. "She doesn't have a green card, we need to help her out here, okay?" Dory grabbed a hold of Izzie's arm, making the blonde face her. Izzie paused for a second, opening her mouth before closing it again as she nodded and walked away while Dory stayed behind, checking the woman's vitals and assuring her she'd be okay until Izzie got back.

This time Dory did the stitches, her hand steady and practiced, like she had been doing this for her entire life while Izzie watched in awe knowing the woman wouldn't even have a scar after this. That's how good Dory had been. "Why are you doing this?" Izzie leaned down beside Dory whose focus wasn't even broken for a second, "What do you mean?"

"You could lose your license, we could both never see the inside of a hospital because of this," Izzie knew why she was doing this, she had become a doctor to help people even if it wasn't always in the best ways but why was Dory doing this?

She didn't get an answer because Dory put the band aid on the patient's head before telling her something that Izzie didn't understand. The woman responded before Dory leaned over and whispered something in her ear, she nodded as she got up, the older woman beside her.

The young woman turned to Izzie and spoke again, this time she said something Izzie could understand, "Thank you," She smiled, it was like the clouds had parted for a second and the sun was shining when Izzie returned the smile. The two women walked away, the younger one keeping on the white jacket that Dory had worn because her coat got dirty.

"There's a woman up there who bit of a rapist's penis." Dory brushed her wet hair out of her face as she turned to the hospital, Izzie got the sense she was supposed to face the hospital but as always, she couldn't tear her eyes from Dory. "She fought him off, but he got the best of her and Shepherd and Burke saved her life," Dory's hand moved to touch the ring on her middle finger, the one engraved with a heart, "They saved a life today," She turned to Izzie, "Which makes everything we did seem kind of silly." She gave Izzie an upside-down smile before she went on, "But right now, we helped someone. That's why I became a doctor, to help people."

Izzie reached her hand out, taking Dory's into her own and for a while they stood like that. They stood in the rain, neither of them saying anything because for a second, they didn't have to.

When the morning came around, it was time to leave, time to go home. Dory stood by her car when she saw George with his bike, "Hey! Guess what." He grabbed it off the ground, approaching the woman while she leaned against her car, second guessing getting into it. "What?" She gave him a sweet smile as he responded, "Izzie and I are gonna be your roommates!" He called out as the woman gasped, "Oh my God! That's really great!" She knew Meredith was gonna cave, it was just a matter of time.

"Hey, can you drive?" She asked as he nodded, looking slightly confused as she threw her car keys at him, he almost didn't catch. "Then you can drive us home." Her gaze slipped past him to where her father was getting into his car, "Give me one second though." She turned back to George who stared down at the bow on her keychain before nodding as she jogged over to Derek.

"And here I thought all you did was run away from me." He said once he rolled down the window as she leaned over it to talk to him, "Do you know why I wanted to be Dr. Noelle instead of Montgomery-Shepherd?" She asked, crossing her arms as she found herself staring into his deep blue eyes. "Because you hate me?" He teased and she shook her head.

"Because I don't wanna live in your shadow anymore. I wanna be my own person for once." If no one knew who her parents were, she could just be DorothΓ©e Noelle, not the daughter of Derek Shepherd and Addison Montgomery-Shepherd or by some miracle the God child of Amelia Shepherd.

Derek's eyes softened on her as he placed his hand on top of hers, "I'm very proud of you, Dr. Noelle." He spoke softly, watching as a smile made its way to her lips. She pulled away, "Thank you, Dr. Shepherd." And then she ran back to her own car, jumping in the passenger's side as George skipped through different channels on the radio. He didn't even notice she was back until he heard her door shut, "Do you like Sade?" He asked as he stopped on a channel playing music from the singer.

Dory just pulled on her seatbelt, her smile never leaving her lips as she nodded, "I think I'm gonna like living with you." She turned her head to face him, watching him return her smile. They both knew the chaos they were about to enter but it was worth it, it had to be.
