DANCING IN THE RAIN. ❜

He sighs, Seok-Hoon had promised himself that he'd limit the amount of times he sought out for either the journal or a recording. But it had always been at the back of his head, forcing the boy to think about it more than he'd like.

Finally, he gives into the temptation and hits the spacebar, starting the video. He just needed to see her face and hear her voice. Seok-Hoon is afraid if he goes too long without it, he'd forget how she looked entirely, and he didn't want that.

The first thing he hears is the pouring rain before a dimly-lit road begins to come into view. It's grainy and poorly shot but Joo Seok-Hoon knows this memory all too well, as he doesn't treasure it in just his head, but his heart too.

" Yuna! What are you doing? It's raining heavily right now, you're going to catch a cold! " Seok-Hoon shouts through the downpour, getting out of the car, getting his suit and hair wet in the process.

" Who cares! I've already been diagnosed with lung cancer, what's a little rain going to do to me? " She yells giddily. Seok-Hoon almost wants to smile at her cuteness, but a part of him reminds him about how sad it actually meant, and so he doesn't.

Knocking on the driver seat window and tapping on the glass, asking for their driver to turn up the music. He nods and obeys, tuning up the volume to the max and winding down the windows for the music to be able to blast.

And just like fate had wanted it too, an old jazz song had begun playing. Yuna smiles as she grabs both of Seok-Hoon's wrists and tugs him further away from the vehicle.

" Yuna, we should really get back── "

" Hush Seok-Hoon. And enjoy the moment, alright? " She tilted her head back, feeling each droplet as it hit her skin.

She swung his arms as she kicked puddles of water. The boy sighs into his smile, giving into her proposition and twirls Yuna around. It catches her off guard and she shrieks, stumbling into his arms.

They stay in that position for what seemed like forever, their gazes locked on each other. Yuna smiles as her eyes turns upwards into a crescent shape, and Seok-Hoon gives her an easy grin.

" You're very pretty, " the girl blurts out as he puts her upright and puts his arms lazily around her waist.

" Pretty? Aren't I supposed to be handsome? " He mutters, but isn't offended, instead he grins.

Yuna moves an arm that was draped around his shoulder to push aside the stands of hair that were clinging to his face. " Yes, you're very handsome. But you're very pretty too. " She hums as they sway side-to-side.

" Must be because I spend all my time looking at you. " Seok-Hoon argues.

The girl chuckles as he follows her action and tuck the wet strands of hair behind her ear. " This is very romantic, " she acknowledges.

" And you just ruined it mentioning that. " He playfully rolls his eyes, " but yes. It is, we're in the pouring rain, dancing in the middle of an empty street during your birthday. If this isn't some fairytale I don't know what is. "

" And I'm the one that ruins the mood by pointing things out? " Yuna jokes before they fall into another beat of silence. Swaying to the music that their poor driver is having to hear in full volume.

The girl rests her forehead on his, shutting her eyes as their steps grew smaller.

" I'm happy. " Yuna confesses lightly and he laughs, but there's a feeling of uncertainty in the midst of it.

" Aren't you always happy? "

She makes a noise of disagreement. " Sometimes I am, but I'm extremely happy today. " Again, another string of silence, and Yuna frowns a little. " This is the part where you ask 'why?' " The girl whispers, her eyes still closed.

Seok-Hoon is immediately thrown into a fit of laughter, Yuna lightly smacks his shoulder. " Man, we just keep ruining the mood don't we? " He managed to say as he calms down, she huffs at him. " Fine, fine. Why are you so extremely happy today, Jang Yuna? "

Rolling her eyes, she circles her arms around her neck. " Well, it's because everything I wanted to do with you is finally completed. " Yuna smiles. " I'm really happy because I'll be able to look back at this whenever I'm feeling down. "

Her voice is tender and soft, but serious. " I'm so happy my heart could burst right now. " At this point they've stopped moving, they stood there, eyes locked.

It was raining so heavily that Seok-Hoon had almost missed the fact that Yuna had begun crying, they weren't sad tears, but nor were they completely happy either.

At the sight, the boy begins to tear up too. She reaches to brush off his tears with her thumb before a sad chuckle escapes her smiling lips. " What are you going to do without me? "

" Not a lot, honestly. " He tries to joke.

Everything about that moment was perfect. Not in a way that was filled with sorrow and drained out color, but not fireworks and sunny skies either. It was just perfect in a way neither of them could explain, it was just Jang Yuna and Joo Seok-Hoon.

So the both of them begin to lean forward at the same time, like a magnet pulling them closer.

" Happy birthday, Yuna. " Was the final thing he gets out, no louder than a whisper, before their lips touch.

And the world became background noise. Because all that mattered was them.

𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐑 π’π„πŽπŠ-π‡πŽπŽπ,

When we dance under the rain together, it feels infinite. The way your smile makes me freeze and your touch makes me melt, I've completely fallen in love with you all over again that August night.

But it's no longer August, well, not the same August at least. But it still rains the same, and the memories of last August still remain.

Because I still remember the feeling of your lips on mine, and the only word that I could explain it with was,

technicolor.

Forever yours,
Yuna <3
