"I Wanna Be Yours"

We've reached the tallest mountain. With all the blood, sweat, and tears, we've reached it—almost.

We are one step away for victory, all of us and especially myself being able to taste it. Since we visited Luis, we all promised to win every single game for him.

It was challenging, but with a few tricks up our sleeves, we were able to win and get us up to the finals.

Many teams were impressed, even some colleges came to scout and were impressed. Guess they didn't expect some ducks to have a comeback.

However, we weren't the only ones with a winning streak, Cooper's team- The Black Knights- made other teams fear them. There weren't any girls, which made some of the boys a bit nervous knowing how harsh they can be, especially towards Connie and I.

"Guys relax, we'll be fine" Connie reassuring them as she grabs her bottle of water "Just ask Nai, as long as we play smart, they won't have a chance to lay a finger on us"

"Remind me again why is this a problem? We've went against tons of guys, how can this one be any different?" added Julie

"Their vibe is definitely different than the rest" Charlie stops pacing and looks at the three of us "You may not notice, but there is definitely something up"

"Maybe it's the fact that we're going against Nai's new brother" Ken laughs

I quickly smack him in the back of the head, his laughter going completely quiet right after "I may be cool with his dad, but I ain't going to see his son as a brother"

"I think we should let them play Charlie" Luis spoke up, everyone turning their heads towards him "These girls got what it takes"

Everyone began to agree, Charlie sighs "Alright, I just want to make sure no one else gets hurt"

As Bombay enters the locker room, we quickly sat down, waiting for his next words or move. He scans the room, and for some reason- smiles, almost on the verge of laughter.

"Uh Coach, you good?" Russ asks, making the rest of us curious

He nods "Yeah, it's just been a while since I felt this much anxiety and excitement"

"For a second there you kinda looked crazy-" Ken says before Dean shushes him

"This is it guys, some of us have been in this exact same spot, others is their first time"

"Don't try to get all emotional on us Coach, especially before the game" Brian chuckles

"Now that you're saying that- let's cut to the chase- you guys are here from working your asses off and I'm really proud of every single one of you. However we aren't finished yet, we're just one step away and it's not gonna be easy. So expect to work twice as hard as you do in practice and in your past games"

We hear a sniffle coming from Russ, making us turn to him "Are you crying?" Robertson asks

"What?! No! I just got something in my eye is all!"

The mood was enlightened as we had a laugh. It was able to calm us down just a bit. It slowly died down as we looked at each other with content.

"So what are we here sitting on our asses for? Let's go get that dub!" Portman cheered as we all became desperate to leave the locker room

Bombay couldn't help but smile, seeing our anticipation "Let's go win a trophy!"

I walked beside Luis as everyone else began cheering down the halls, echos bouncing the walls and down the exit towards the rink.

Everything was going well, until I heard an agitating voice behind us.

"Nairobi" Cooper called out

Luis and I stopped at our tracks and heard my name get called one more time before I turned to him. Luis's bright smile fading quicker than a candle and stared at him, hoping to burn a hole through his forehead.

"I just want to talk to you, please?" His voice sounding desperate in which gives me the benefit of the doubt

"You can wait up front Luis, it'll only take a minute" I sighed as I hear him mutter 'don't fall for his bullshit'.

Once Luis was gone, I stood there impatiently for him to begin his conversation. Cooper clears his throat and makes an effort to say one sentence:

"We got on the wrong foot"

I scoff "Wrong? Probably shitty"

"I want this to end between us. This whole tension of me telling you to 'fuck off' and you telling me 'suck a dick'" He continues "I honestly never seen my dad this happy with someone when he is with Melanie"

It surprised me how he became open minded and the realization of our parents relationship. I can say for myself that mom is over the moon for Travis.

"You're right" I agreed "I guess seeing my mom with someone that isn't my dad still new to me"

"Tell me about it" He softly chuckles "I just want to apologize for everything Nairobi. Let's start over, if that's alright with you"

I give him a toothy grin "Sure, but this better not be not bullshitting. Otherwise I'll get my stick and shove it up your ass so it'll come out of your mouth"

His eyes widen slightly "Got it! No bullshitting!"

"I should be going now, I have someone waiting for me upfront" as I began walking, I turn back to him "And by the way, I'm not going easy on your team"

He chuckles as he turns back to the locker rooms "I like a challenge, good luck Nairobi"

Just as I suspected, Luis was waiting for me right outside. He follows behind, making sure not to trip from the crutches.

"So he wasn't bullshitting you?" Luis asks as he tries to keep up with me

"I threatened him, but I think he really means it" I responded "For our parents sake and our own"

"Guess I don't have to worry about my girlfriend having problems with her new brother"

My cheeks were blushed pink as I look up at him, the both of us surprised he said the term.

"Shit I mean Nai- right? I mean- if you want to- or if you find it weird-"

"No no!" I giggle "You're my boyfriend and I'm your girlfriend"

He sighs of relief "Cool... cool"

"Luis, it's okay. You can call me whatever you like, just not something weird"

"Whatever huh" He thinks "I'll figure it out. I want it to be unique"

Bombay calls Luis, him looking back at him and at me. He quickly places a peck on my cheek and goes to him, leaving me to practice some drills with the team.

"I saw that" Julie smiles "You guys are finally official?"

"Yeah" I breathed "I think he's still getting used to it"

She laughs "Never thought I'd see the awkward side of Luis Mendoza"

The day has come ladies and gentlemen! The Black Knights take on The Mighty Ducks! Both teams have fought well to make it where they are right now, but only one team can call themselves 'champions'!

"That announcer really knows how to uplift the crowds spirit" Guy said as we surround Bombay

"Making me pumped!" Fulton agrees as Dean nods

"They might bring out their strong players out there so I want Charlie to retrieve the puck. Julie, you'll be goalie for now. Portman and Fulton are gonna be my wings and Nai and Brian will be at defense" Bombay explained "Any questions?"

"Can Nai and I switch?" asked Charlie "Her quick reflexes can be a good use right now"

"Charlie-"

He cuts me off and continues "You got this Nai. I have my faith in you, and so does the team"

"What's your call Nai? Up for it?" Bombay questions

"Let's win a trophy"

"Change!" Bombay shouts, making I, along with a few others heading to the box

"How's it going guys?" Luis asks as he hands us water

"They are hella aggressive" Russ pants, taking in some water

"I can't keep up with them" adds Ken "They got great stamina"

"Nai, you alright?" Luis asks once more

I nod "They have some good tactics, Dean and I were able to figure out some of them, but I think they know we are following their mind games"

"That's good!" Bombay interferes "Keep doing that, and once you have an opening- take it and pass it alongside your wingers. They are fast I know, but you are faster so take it"

"Coach has a point. Be two- no three steps ahead. Do that thing you always do and be in their head" says Luis

Bombay calls for another change and I follow Ken and Russ out the box and right away blast to where the puck is at.

"Play three play three!" The opposing team shouts

Their passes were barley seen. With a blink of an eye it'll go from one player to the other and then goes the siren for the goal.

Wo-ho-hoo! The Black Knights makes a goal which leaves The Mighty Ducks behind by a point! I must say this is one intense game ladies and gents!

"Stay focused! We'll be right on top again!" Bombay shouts out

With everyone becoming impatient and desperate to win, our tactics started to become sloppy. We weren't in sync and half of us were already burned out.

I quickly pass the puck to Connie, she received it and held on to it until there was an open pass.

The second I looked away, Connie was soon on the ground. I hear the sound of boos in the crowd and a fight almost happening.

"You fucking flipped her man!" Charlie shouts

"She wanted to play with us, so she's gonna have to experience obstacles in her way" one of Coopers friends snicker

I carefully help Connie up, she winces as she grabs her side. Her face was filled with defeat as she quickly wipes her face from both sweat and tears.

"You need to sit out Con" Julie sighs

"No!" She quickly answers "I'm okay, really-"

Another wince as Julie wraps her other arm around her neck "You did good Connie"

She finally gives in and gets traded with Ken. Man quickly goes to her and checks on her, she softly smiles for reassurance.

"We'll keep playing for you Con" Julie says as she puts her helmet on

I look over to Cooper as he began scolding his friend, the kid laughs it off thinking it's a joke "We got a game to win Coop, don't be so soft"

The game continues, our little break helped us shape back together and become in sync. With the help of Ken's flexibility and delicate balance, we were able to make a goal.

Looks like there's a tie! This game gets more and more interesting folks!

The crowd cheers as the other team forces us to go down the line with them. From one pass to another, a shot is made. However Julie's quick reflexes blocks it.

Everyone goes wild, but it soon dies down when we another teammate quickly tackle Julie. Everyone, including myself, charge over there and the boys pull him up.

"Julie, hey Julie are you alright?!" I call out

"Arm- can't breathe-"

"Is she okay?" Ken asks

I shook my head "That bastard took out her breath and hurt her arm"

"This is the second time ref! They are just gonna injure us!" Charlie shouts as everyone from the team agrees

"These kids are just playing football at this point ref!" Bombay shouts "Two of my players are already down"

"I'll work on it" the ref groans

Ken and I help Julie up and Bombay calls for a timeout. Everyone begins ranting to Bombay on how unfair the game is becoming.

"It's obvious what they are doing" Bombay sighs "They want to remove the girls from playing by injuring them"

"And why do they have a need to do that?" Robertson questions "Unless they are intimidated by them"

"No matter what, they already got two of them down" Fulton comments "If Nai plays, they're gonna break her skull"

Bombay begins to fiddle with his hands as he turns back to me "Nai, this choice is all up to you. You can continue to play but have a risk of getting hurt, or you can sit out and not get hurt"

"It'll make more sense if I just sit out" I answered, but Luis quickly tries to get by

"I think we should let her play"

Everyone's head snaps back to him "What?!"

"She has helped us get to where we are now. Letting her stay in the bench would be a crime in my opinion" he explained

"If she does play, we're gonna have to be more cautious" Dean comments

Brian agrees "We also need to put our anger aside from us. It's messing with our plays"

"Fulton and Portman, we're gonna need you two to be beside Nai. I think I got an idea" Bombay says as the two look at each other and back at him

"You mean-" Fulton cocks an eyebrow "We can play messy?"

"I wouldn't call it messy, but play the way you two usually play"

The ref blows his whistle, me- along with the others- putting out helmets on and grabbing our sticks.

"If you think it gets too intense just signal Bombay" Luis noted

Once the game began, their main priority was getting near me just enough to try and attack. However with Bombay's idea, Fulton and Dean were able to make it work and block anyone that got in my way or tried to.

I had the opportunity to retrieve the puck from Guy and had an opening thanks to Fulton and Dean.

I quickly pass it up to Charlie as he did a back pass to Brian, a great assist and an amazing goal.

And the crowd is wilddddd! Ducks in the lead from the Knights!

"Nice job Nai!" Charlie smiles "Let's keep it up guys!"

With Cooper's team holding the puck, it gave us a slight advantage to prepare for their attack. Charlie and Brian did their best, but Cooper's control with the puck was enough for them to make a close shot.

Cooper shot it from Goldberg's blind spot, the siren going off. Once again, it was a tie and a very close game.

"It's alright guys! We just need to be ahead again!" Charlie shouts

Our start was sloppy and the other team was able to retrieve the puck, luckily Goldberg was able to block the shot.

He quickly passes it to me and as Dean and Fulton did their technique, I had an opening to skate down the line with Charlie.

Hearing Luis and the others from one ear and the crowd from the other ear was enough to bring my adrenaline up. I quickly look up at the time, and only had two minutes for our last quarter.

Nairobi Cortes holds the puck, with her teammate by her side to which she-

My body collided with another as I felt myself get slightly lifted off from the floor and soon crashed down.

Everything was black. My heart was beating all the way up to my ears to a point where I couldn't hear anything for a good minute.

I came to realization that I was sacked by one of Cooper's teammates. To my surprise, it hurt a lot.

As my vision came back, I can see Cooper fuming at his teammate. Fulton and Dean surrounding them as Charlie waved his hand above my face.

"Nai, you alright?!" Charlie asked worriedly

"Do you need us to get Bombay?" Brian added as they helped me up

"There's no need I'm here" Bombay says as he grabs a hold of me "You need to sit this one out Nai"

"I'm fine, really I am" I stated "It just took me out for a minute"

Cooper pushes his teammate aside as he head towards me "Nairobi are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm alright" I answered

His skin suddenly turns white "Y-Your stick"

I look down to see it snapped from the neck. My own stick, filled with memories and given as a valuable gift from Luis, broken.

It hurt to see it broken, but it made me feel worse to see Cooper feeling guilty, thinking it was his fault it's on the floor broken into two pieces.

"I'll get you a new one! I have plenty and-"

"It's alright, I'll figure it out"

Bombay sighs "We're gonna need to see if anyone would lend you one or something"

"She can have mine!" Luis shouts from the box, his hands lifting his stick in the air

"I mean, it's something right?" Brian said

I went over as I hesitated to grab it. After all, it was Luis's- just like my prize possession- this one was his.

"I want you to have it Nai. I know you'll take care of it" he broke my train of thought

"Since when did you have this laying around?"

He shrugs "You gonna take it or not? Because in my family it's quite rude for someone not to take a perfect most precious-"

"Okay okay, I'll take it" I chuckle as he hands me his stick "Thank you"

He smiles "Go kick some ass yeah? I want this game to be over"

Bombay quickly walks over to me "We only got a minute left, it's our puck and those guys are gonna be twice as aggressive as before. You think you can take a shot?"

"Uh- I think so?" I nervously smiled "It's a lot of pressure don't you think?"

"You got this. Charlie is gonna start with the puck so you can get an opening. You're quick and smart to play with their minds Nairobi"

"Alright, I think I got an idea"

He smiles "Go help us win a trophy"

The game continued, it was our puck and only had a minute left of the game. Everyone from the crowd was at the edge of their seats and not a single person was silent.

Charlie stood beside the ref as everyone else scattered throughout the rink to receive it.

"We're gonna block them for you" Dean mutters "Bombay told us to give you an opening"

"Great, just when I thought it wasn't gonna be easy" I sighed

He blows the whistle and the puck drops, Charlie quickly passing it to Brian and he holds onto it, the rest of us moving from one side to the other.

Cooper stood beside me like glue and didn't let me have any opening, guess he was able to read our plan.

"With me here you won't have any chance Nai" Cooper smiles

From it being only a minute, to becoming twenty seconds, we all began to feel the overwhelming feeling, especially myself.

Suddenly, I remembered the play Luis and I had- only it was gonna be different since I'm gonna do it with either Brian or Charlie.

I did a sharp turn and spun past him, having a slight advantage to receive Charlie's pass. He was able to read it clearly and passed it between one of the opposing players legs, landing right beside my stick. I scooped it up and forcefully shot it, watching it go in the air as the goalie misses the block.

The Ducks win the championship! I repeat, the Ducks win the championship!

The siren blew one last time as the timer went off, confetti being blown in the air. Charlie and everyone else went completely wild as they skated towards me.

"You did it Nai! Holy shit!" Charlie cheered

"We did it man! We all did it!" I smiled

I looked around and locked eyes with Luis, my heart beating a thousand times, just like the moment I saw him when I moved here.

"Luis!" I beamed as a skated towards him

His smile never leaves his face as he calls for me, carefully walking to me so he wouldn't slip on the ice.

"Don't move! You're gonna-"

I quickly held onto him as we both fell back on the rink "Ow"

I giggled "Are you okay?! Did I hurt you?"

"No no! My ass just hurts- but forget that, you did it!" His eyes sparkled as he hugs me

I hug him back "We all did it Luis"

"Mi luna" he grins as he admires my eyes

He places his hand beside my check as I rest on it, my hands cradling his "Is that a new nickname?"

"It's the perfect nickname"

"Awww look at these two lovebirds, laying on the floor and totally forgetting we won" Ken chuckles

"You were just about to see me propose to her Ken" Luis jokes as he sits up

I carefully help him up as I hand him his crutches "As if"

"I was, honest! Had a ring pop and everything!" He chuckles

"It better be strawberry- otherwise the wedding is off"

He pretends to act shocked "That'll just make me a bad boyfriend for not knowing what mi luna's favorite ring pop is"

Everyone surrounds Bombay as he congratulated us "We've came a long way. I can't explain how
