"I am sorry Mrs. Malfoy, I cannot take back what has already been started. You will be with Malfoy for the rest of the year and longer. It is decided." Professor McGonagall nodded briefly, but Elise didn't notice, the knot once again appeared in her stomach and now her throat as well. Mrs. Malfoy?!
She shuddered at the name, she wanted to throw up even more now, the name felt wrong, this all felt wrong.
"Excuse me?" Elise choked out.
"Are you confused? What would you like me to explain better?"
"Mrs. Malfoy? The rest of the year and longer?" Her breathing was faster.
"Well, I presume you might have missed that part, after hearing your name with Malfoy's. These partners are meant to be for a long time, we chose your partners carefully Elise, this is not just a baby assignment, it is also a taste of what your life will be like with your partner and the children, as a family."
Elise shook her head stiffly, her hear pounding in her ears. "N-no. Please," She tried to say, but it wouldn't come out. "He's going to kill me!" She managed to say after a moment.
"He has changed since the war Ms. Peirce" It was relieving to hear her last name again. "Just get to know him, and you'll see. He does feel terrible about what he had done"
Elise doubted he did at all, she knew he was mad, she knew he could possibly lash out because of it, and she was the closest thing to lash out on.
"I have a things waiting for me, I wish you the best luck" The professor touched Elise's hand slightly, getting a flinch away. Elise shook her head, as more soft tears glisened down her cheek, she turned away and left without another word.
Elise wandered the halls, trying to get the picture of her and Malfoy as a family out of her head, as well as the sound of her name with his last name. She hated it, hated this, hated him.
After hours of walking the halls, she decided she was being silly, she was a witch she could take him on, as long as she had her wand on her at all times, and she went to her flat, Malfoy and her flat.
"Where did you go?" Draco asked.
"To talk to McGonagall, and for a walk" She said after hesitating.
"And you were crying? Or is that just your sickness?" Draco scoffs.
"Why does it matter? Why do you care?" The words came out without acceptance.
"It doesn't matter, you don't matter, and I don't care" And with that he left up stairs.
Elise sighed deeply, how is that supposed to be my future husband? She took another deep breath and built up the courage to go after Malfoy.
"What is wrong with you?" Elise entered their room, with hands on her hips.
Draco opened his eyes, from resting them. "Are you sure it's me there's something wrong with?" He raised a brow, he looked amused.
"Stop it!" She screamed, not caring that tears were falling down her face, her wand was raised pointed at him now. "Your not the boss of me, you don't get to call me fat and worthless anytime you want, I'm a person too! A better person than you ever will be, and just because you can't handle it doesn't mean you get to walk around this flat like you own it!" She ended, out of breath.
But it worked, Draco looked stunned and taken over, that's what she wanted, she was going to be a "mother" of sorts, she didn't want him thinking he was the boss.
"I can't tell if your really sick or serious" Draco said.
"Merlin! Your pathetic!" Elise yelled and sat on the bed, the very end and edge away from Draco. Resting her head in her hands, trying to steady her heart and breathing.
Then a hand placed itself on her back, and she jumbed. "What are you doing?" She asked, not believing what was happening. "I don't need to die at your hands" She growled.
"Die? I..." His thoughts took over and he shrunk into himself, remembering.
Elise turned and saw, not only she crying but also the death eater sitting across from her now, she had turned around to face him. His face had fallen, and now his head was in his hands, and Elise felt a pinch of guilt, He has changed since the war, He does feel terrible about what he had done.
Elise remembered the words of Professor McGonnagall, has he really changed? "What..." She paused, gathering the right words, carefully. "What was it like" She said softly and guiltily.
"Awful, terrifying, brutal" The three words opened up too much for Elise, and even Draco.
