"Stop right there, varmints!" Done It ordered.

"I hate this place!" Sonic said, glaring at the Council.

Mr. Doctor Eggman angrily points at them.

"Destroy them!"

Eggforcers fly at you, Sonic, and Nine. Sonic spins and knocks them at the Council. Nine runs back to the computer and types in the password as he gets inside, closing the door, locking the council out.

"Thanks for stopping by." Sonic winked as the doors closed in front of the Council.

"I've locked the Chaos Council out of the system, but it won't last long." Nine informed us.

"Don't tell me we're trapped in here?" Sonic asked in exasperation.

"Are you kidding?" Nine smiled smugly, "This is all going according to my plan."

Suddenly, you heard a loud thud and turned to see Babble's bot outside of the broken window.

Babble yelled something angrily. He then fires his rattle through the broken window. You, Sonic, and Nine dodge it.

"Did you plan for that?" Sonic questioned the rattle.

"That? No." Nine deadpanned.

Babble fires at Sonic. Sonic dodges and runs to the shard case. You and Nine jumped on to it sitting together as Sonic came rushing pushing it as the doors opened. He speeds through them and more doors open. You, Sonic, and Nine start down the stairwell.

"Stop! The Council thinks we're going down..." Nine smirks and takes out a regulator ring that Sonic wears. The trio lean over to the edge.

"...but we are taking a different path." Nine drops it down the stairwell.

"Neat." You smirked.

"Oh, things are finally coming together. We've got the Shards. We can finally fix everything!" Sonic said happily.

"It's going to be perfect!" Nine added, looking joyfull.

You three ran away from the stars just then, an army of Eggforcers fly down the stairwell. Behind the grate on the landing, you, Sonic, and Nine stand with the case in the tunnel.

"Why aren't they powering down?" Sonic asked. "We have the Shards!"

"Residual prism energy stored in the Mothership. They're not powering down any time soon." Nine explained and walked off.

In a large room, two Eggforcers stand guard in front of the Shatterdrive. Nine takes off another grate and steps in silently. He sees his craft and the guards. You and Sonic watch Nine creep behind on his tails. Nine jumps on top of the Shatterdrive and goes to the front and deactivates the guards.

"Nine, you are full of surprises." Sonic smiled pushing the case along as he approached him, you followed closely behind with a smile.

"If you like surprises, wait 'til you see what I've got going on in the Grim." Nine said excitedly, taking out the blue shard and bringing it to his craft. "Me and Y/n made it together to be more specific."

You smiled at that, "Yeah. It's amazing!"

"Grim?" Sonic questioned. "Cool, can't wait to hear more! But right now we gotta get to Ghost Hill." Sonic said.

"Ghost Hill?" Nine asked as he connected the shard.

"Yeah! It's just like the real deal, plus it's got a fourth Shard and this blueprint 'thingy.' " Sonic explained.

"Blueprint?" Nine scratched his head in thought. He pressed a button and the case attaches to the bottom of the Shatterdrive. Nine's eyes lit up in realization. "That's the key to putting the prism back together!"

"Exactly!" Sonic said happily.

Nine pondered thoughtfully. He leaned down looking at Sonic, "How do we get to this Ghost Hill?" Nine asked.

But then, he looks past you and Sonic as Eggforcers fly in through sets of doors.

"I'll clear the path, you get the Shards out of here!" Sonic said, "And Y/n, you are going in, I'll take care of this! And we don't have time for any arguments!" You nodded at him and jumped inside the Shatterdrive.

Sonic looks surprised but shakes it off, thankful, and spins at one group of Eggforcers and knocks them out. On the Shatterdrive, Nine pushes buttons.

Outside, Babble's bot looks down as the large door opens. It flies down to it and lands in front of them as Babble screams angrily.

"Ugh! The baby again!" Sonic groaned in frustration.

Sonic spin at the bot. He dodges fire and knocks it away. Sonic jumps aboard as the Shatterdrive takes off and flies away. Babble cries, punching its fists against the ground while lying on his back.

"Go, go, go!" Sonic urged.

"Next stop, prism blueprint." Nine smiled.

Nine flies to the green portal.

"The portal shouldn't have been left open this long. They're decaying." he explained.

"Do you think we can go through them?" Sonic asked.

"I don't trust them, they look unstable." Nine said.

He heard warning beeps as Nine flies. Eggforcers chase after us. Nine moves his controls as he makes his craft turn and dodges fires, shooting Eggforcers ahead of it.

"Ha-ha! Mess with our best bud, and you get blasted!" Sonic grinned.

Nine grins and shakes his head a little while you stare. You paused and grabbed Nine's seat delightedly, "Amazing job Nine!" You cheered on him. Nine's smile widens a bit as he flies to the Shatterdrive toward the Yoke. He goes straight up and moves.

"Whoo-hoo!" You and Sonic cheered as the craft moved gracefully.

"That was epic!" You and Sonic said in union, shaking his shoulder.

Nine looks surprised but maintains his cool with a smirk. "Yes, it was."

"You have to teach me how to fly like that sometime!"

Nine smiles, "Of course, Y/n." He looks down at his screen as he builds up energy. The Shatterdrive shoots it and opens the portal.

"Ha, ha, ha! Nothing's gonna stop us now!" Sonic said.

As if on cue, the Yolkomotive fires at the Shatterdrive. Sonic screams as the craft spins. Nine quickly pulls the dive up.

"Will you stop saying stuff like that?" Nine glared at Sonic.

You glanced behind towards the Council with a smile.

"No matter how fast you are, time always catches up." Deep said through the Yolkomotive. "Time, and the Chaos Council-"

"Will you just blast them already?!" Done It shouted. Deep shrinks and presses the button.

The Yolkomotive shoots the part of the Shatterdrive. Nine struggles to control it.

"Ugh. We're going down!" Nine shouted in panic.

The Shatter Drive flies over a street. The Yolkomotive hits the shard case.

"The Shards." Nine gasped.

The Shatter Drive lands hard and spins to a stop.

"You okay?" Sonic asked with concern. You nodded for an answer.

"The Shatterdrive is down. Go get the Shards!" Nine said, opening the hatch.

Sonic jumps out and runs for the case in the street. Deep sees that and growls. The Yolkomotive fires at him, who leaps. He get the case and push it. In the Shatterdrive, Nine picks up the blue shard.

"Nine, Y/n, get down!" Sonic yelled in in the distance

Sonic runs toward you two as the Yolkomotive fires. You and Nine ducks with the shard in panic.

"Whoa!" he exclaimed.

A shot lands near Sonic. Another hits the Yolkomotive. The Kraken flies at it, firing. It flies over the Yolkomotive. Sonic stops pushing, waving up at the Kraken. Nine stared amazed.

"Alright, Rusty and Black Rose!" He cheered.

Rusty looks down at the smoking craft.

"Who is useless now?" she mocked.

"Oh, that traitor will pay for that!" Deep growled, moving the control.

The Kraken chases the Yolkomotive away.

"Ha-ha!" Sonic laughed heartily, turning to you and Nine. "I can get us to the Void."

Nine puts the blue shard back in the case. Eggforcers approach in the air.

"But right now, we need to move. Come on!" Sonic urged.

You and Nine ride on the case as Sonic pushes the case faster.

"How can you get us to the Void?" Nine asked.

"Well, I don't want to get all science-y, but basically, I run fast and boom... a portal opens." Sonic said.

"And you've done this lots of times? Turn right!" Nine said.

Sonic pushes through the alley.

"Not exactly lots of times..." Sonic said.

You and Nine ducked a few lasers, "How many? Make a left." Nine said.

"Once on purpose, and I wasn't pushing a giant Shard case. But it was super cool!"

"Turn right!"

Sonic turns onto the street. Eggforcers keep chasing after them, firing. The hedgehog dodges them.

"Ugh, we'll never get up to speed with all these Eggforcers on us!" He groaned.

"Sorry pal, but I think we're going to have to use one of those portals to escape." Sonic said sadly.

"It's not a good idea. It portals directly into another Shatterspace. They can't be stable." Nine states.

The Kraken keeps chasing as the trio look up.

"Well, they came through and they're okay." Sonic pointed out.

"Alright, fine." Nine said in defeat.

"Through the portals it is!" He said, picking up speed.

He run toward the Yoke when three more Eggforcers fly at us. Nine spins his metal tails and he, you and Sonic fly with the case. The Eggforcers smashes into each other, creating an explosion. You, Nine, and Sonic descend to a ramp. Nine smiled at us while Sonic winked before he pushed the case up to a ramp through the portal. We fly off the end and go through the blue portal. You smiled at that.

In No Place, Nine screams as the case bounces off the surface of the sea, which causes him to fly up. You two landed back on the case thanks to Sonic.

"Gotcha!" He said.

"Thanks." Nine groaned.

"No problem. That's what friends do."

This made Nine smile. Sonic looks up ahead.

"Buildings? Here?" he questioned.

"That doesn't look good." You frowned.

Another ship flies out of the red portal to reveal Don't and Babble piloting it. It starts firing at us, to which the hedgehog dodges them. Eggforcers fly out from the front. Sonic pushes the case between the buildings and the Eggforcers chases after us.

"Two on your six." Nine instructed. "Can't you go any faster?"

"Not on this water. We'll never build up enough speed like this." Sonic said before Nine helped with his tails to make a sharp cut around the corner.

The Eggforcers go straight into a wall. Sonic finds the Angel's Voyage.

"There be no wind in me sails! Curse these buildings." Batten ranted.

"Ahoy, guys!" Sonic greeted.

"GUYS!" You waved at them.

"Sonic! Y/n! You be back!" Batten smiled, flying over to them. "Ye got yer own boat!"

"This isn't a boat." Nine states.

Sails comes up next to Batten with Catfish.

"Technically, anything that floats be a boat." he explained.

Sails looks at Nine and his eyes widens as they stare at each other in shock.

You stare at both of them with a wide grin, "About that..." You chuckled. "Fun to have a twin now, huh? One second you think you were the real deal and second you face the terrifying facts— You look back and you find you have an identity crisis!"

Sails' eyes finally landed on you, "Y/n? What happened to your clothes?" He asked, frowning.

"What's up with my clothes?" You faked an offended tone." They are dark... and maybe covered in a bit of my own blood. But I like the hoodie and stuff. Cozy. I shall thank Nine for that." Nine didn't know if he should smile at your words or frown in worry.

Sails scratched his head in confusion, "You know? Your clothes? When you wear it, when we are together?" He sighed with a smile, trying to demonstrate more, "Your pretty cute clothes, that one you look absolutely stunning in it." He cleared his throat, laughing nervously, "No offense to your... new clothes though."

You spoke casually, "I get rid of them. Isn't much of my taste you know." Sails' frown grew in confusion. He looked back at your sword, "Well... would you like your sword back then?" Nine watched you two interact with a deadpan expression.

You shook your head, "Hold onto it for me."

Sonic cut through the awkward conversation, "Actually, we're just passing through. Any chance you could help us out?" Sonic asked.

"Helping you out only brings more trouble, but if you could sweeten the deal?" Batten said with a grin.

She turned to see the Council's ship. Sonic grins, "Wouldn't you like another crack at these guys?" He asked.

"Argh! They really put the bog in me boots and I've been itching to use the cannons."

Catfish bring out the cannons.

"Thanks, Batten!!" Sonic said before he took off with the case.

On top, Nine looks back at Sails, who waves. As soon as we left, they started shooting fireworks as they exploded around the Council's ship.

Nine starts flying as you and Sonic hold on, heading through the red portal.

In New Yoke, we landed on the deck with the case.

"Having friends in all the Shatterspaces comes in handy. Just wait 'til you meet Tails. You're gonna love him!" Sonic said happily.

You frowned at that.

Suddenly, you heard a thud and turned to see Dread landed in front of them.

"Dread??" Sonic said in surprise.

"I want me beauty!" He yelled. "I know ye have it!"

Nine looked at Sonic sarcastically, "Yeah, sure it's great having friends." He muttered under his breath, "And what's up with pirates today...?"

"Come on, dude, I thought you and I were cool now." Sonic sighed.

"Ye thought wrong." Dread glared.

Knucks lands in between them, sending Dread flying back. Rebel flies above you and Nine.

"Get outta here, Sonic. I'll handle this." Knucks said, punching his fists at each other.

Dread jumped back at the rooftop. The two glared at each other.

You and Nine watched with a straight face. Nine leaned towards you, "Friends... How do you deal with annoying friends?"

You shrugged, "You put up with them, I guess, at least that's what I do. Everything aside, they are your friends." Nine thought about it.

"I get why you don't like me, but you guys should be friends!"

"Not gonna happen. I already have enough friends." Knucks said.

"The only friend I need is me beauty." Dread said. The two jumped at each other, their powerful punch sending each other back.

"The Council's forces are converging on you." Rebel said to Sonic. "You brought the trouble. Now take it with you."

"We've got bigger problems." Nine said, pointing at something ahead.

We turned to find Eggforcers flying down.

"We need to go." Nine urged them.

"We'll buy you some time." Rebel said.

They fight, Dread reaches out, "No! Come back!" Knucks punched him on the face.

You, Sonic, and Nine rush off. Sonic get the case to another ramp when more Eggforcers chase after us. We all speed toward the green portal and then fly through it.

In Boscage Maze, you, Sonic, and a screaming Nine go down as Eggforcers into bare tree branches, dropping through the canopy. With the case, he speeds down vines and roots and lands on the grass.

"That was..." Nine started.

"Fun, right?" Sonic said.

"Yeah, you get used to it." You huffed landing on the ground face flat.

"Once we put the prism back together, things will be nonstop awesome all the time in Green Hill." Sonic said happily before he helped you up the case and pushed it.

"Green Hill?" Nine questions.

Suddenly, the Mothership comes through the portal and more Eggforcers fly down.

"Chaos Council's not playing around." Sonic glared.

"They won't stop coming until they have the Shards. We need to get to the Void. Now." Nine urged him.

"Agreed. We just need a runway." Sonic said.

Three Eggforcers fire at you, Sonic, and Nine. Sonic pushes the case between the stumps. Nine looks ahead and sees the Scavengers. Gnarly tries to pull down the lamppost.

In slow motion, Sonic passes them. Nine and Mangey stare at each other with wide eyes. Then at full speed, Sonic runs on. You smile to yourself seeing Nine's frown you reach out to him. He glanced at you holding your hand over his shoulder.

Sonic looks at buildings. "This deforestation and commercial construction is really starting to tick me off." Sonic said in annoyance.

"You're not the only one..." Thorn and Birdie hit the Eggforcers.

"...and your friend looks a lot like Mangey." Thorn said. You chuckled at that. "Rub on Thorn. Way to go." You muttered.

"Who's that?" Nine asked in shock.

Thorn jumps down and approaches them.

"Thorn Rose, meet Tails Nine." Sonic introduced happily.

"It's just Nine." Nine corrected him with a frown.

"What have you done now?" Thorn demanded Sonic, scowling at the hedgehog. You and Nine stared.

"Not me. Them!" Sonic pointed up at the Mothership.

"I won't let them do more damage to my jungle." Thorn glared, gripping onto her hammer.

Everything in the jungle shakes.

"An earthquake! Now? Can't Mother Nature see I'm trying to save reality?" Sonic exclaimed.

"There was no earthquake." Nine said grimly. "Look!" He pointed to the case. There was a hole made where the red shard held in the case glows red. Sonic backs away from it.

"That's not good."

"Their powers are intensifying because of the close proximity. The case won't hold them much longer." Nine explained, sealing the case with his metal tails.

"Can you clear a runway?" Sonic asked Thorn.

She nods and jumps on Birdie.

"For Boscage Maze!"

They fly above the canopy as Birdie screeches with Thorn letting out her warrior scream. The Kraken and the Yolkomotive fly through Boscage. Rusty presses buttons, making the Kraken fire. The Yolkomotive swoops and hits Eggforcers. Rusty and Black Rose saw something zoom past them and watch Thorn and Birdie. Thorn hits Eggforcers with her hammer and Birdie breaks one apart with her talons. Thorn leaps at an Eggforcer with her warrior scream and slams it down before landing back on Birdie.

"Who is that??" Rusty and Black Rose both asked in unison.

In the jungle, Sonic finally managed to pick up speed.

"Gotta go fast!!" Sonic yelled out.

Blue and purple streaks appear around him. Pushing the case, we vanished before we could crash into a building.

In the Void, Sonic lets the case go, looking tired. This made you and Nine worry as we're slowly moving away from Sonic.

"Sonic!!" You and Nine called out as you drift through the void.

You look ahead and see Shadow, your expression darkens with that. Shadow flies toward us and holds the case slowing us down. "It's about time." He huffed.

Sonic smiles and flies to us, landing on the purple rocks.

"Nine, meet Shadow, Shadow, meet Nine." he introduced.

Nine looks at Shadow. While you slowly crawl behind Nine, getting out of Shadow's view.

"You're not another version of Sonic. But you could be twins!" Nine exclaimed.

Shadow looked unamused. "Hardly, I am the ultimate life form." He informed.

"Don't listen to him. Come on!" Sonic said.

We all head for the yellow gateway.

In Ghost Hill, Sonic lands on the grass as Shadow and Nine set down the case. Nine smiled at you and helped you down. You
