"good morning, champ!" my dad greeted me with a playful ruffle of my hair, i laughed "dad, come on i just fixed my hair" i protested, before attempting to smooth down unruly strands without much success.

"sorry, champ. so, are you pump up for tomorrow's game?" he asked, his tone filled with excitement "hell yeah!" i responded eagerly, "that's what i like!" we exchanged a quick dap, a testament to the bond between us. yeah, that's right, my dad knew how to dap; he's a dapper now, thanks to me. with austin ramirez by your side, you learn how to be a man. it sounded cool in my head, at least, right? we cool?

"austin, honey, don't stress yourself like last time alright, those roosters really got you under your skin" mom interjected, her concern evident in her voice "don't worry, mom, i won't. yeah, i know they did diss us and we got hella mad about it but now we're cool unlike them who's still arrogant about it" i shrugged.

"oh right! i heard what happened yesterday. you and your friends did something to briar?" she inquired, "mom, chill out, it's just a prank. nothing wrong with that" i leaned back in my chair, crossing my arms "but still, she's a girl, she's new to the town. you could've been nice to her at least" she persisted "but--" and i was about to protest when my dad intervened in the conversation.

"your mother's right, austin. you shouldn't have done that" he admonished gently, and i lowered my head "we're not mad, we're just disappointed with what you did, honey. we didn't raise you to do such things to other people, you get what we mean?" mom added, her voice soft but firm. i nodded in agreement, "fine i'm sorry" i conceded and they both nodded, "you better apologize to her tomorrow, i'll ask her mom if you really did" my mom insisted, i met her gaze with reluctance. "what? not for a billion bucks, i wouldn't do that" i protested, earning a stern look "fine, i will" i relented, shaking my head in disbelief.

who cares anyway? it seems like briar has already moved on about it, and seriously, i wouldn't say sorry to her for a billion bucks. besides austin ramirez doesn't do that, well.. sometimes, but my parents are right; i may bad boy on the outside, but atleast they raised a son with a good heart inside. fine, i'll say sorry to her even if i don't want to.

time has passed.

finished eating and headed to school, when i did i was greeted with enthusiasm from my friends "ready for tomorrow's game?" aaron asked, with full curiosity "yeah! wild jaguars are born to be ready" i responded, earning a dap from sam, "let's go wild jaguars!" sam shouted out, "hell yeah!" jasper yelped out loud.

we entered the building and we continued talking about the game, as far as i know they said we're excused from some of the classes we have.. and i'm not surprise i know this would happen since it happened last time and it is because we need a lot of practice for tomorrow's game, we don't want to disappoint the jaguars obviously, what can i say this is a life of being a varsity kid.

anyhoo we entered the classroom as soon as we are near there, all i can think at the moment is the "apology" thing my mom told me, is to say sorry to new york? not even one bit i'll do that. seriously do i really have to? or should i just blackmail her, i mean bribing her is not a bad choice, right?

or maybe not... who am i kidding i'll just do it, ugh. i shook my head as we entered the classroom, as soon as we did enter not knowing my gaze immediately turned to briar who's talking with evie, grace and kaya, my friends elbowed me, i turned and rolled my eyes.

weird. really weird....

40 minutes later.

*knock, knock*

all of our attention are now on the door, our teacher headed her way to get the door "good morning, ms. long, sorry to interrupt your class, is it alright if you could call my players? because the jaguars need their practice for tomorrow's game, i know i did remind all the teachers about it, i'm just going to repeat it incase you forget" coach said sincerely, ms. long nodded her head before opening the door widely for us to see coach clearly.

"alright, all jaguar football players, coach fields needs you guys" she announced calmly, me and the boys began standing up before heading out "don't worry, i'll just give you the copy of the activity when the game's done" she smiled before bidding byes to us.

as we head out coach fields greeted us with full pleasure, us on the other greeted him the same way, after we did all of us headed to the field. but before we did we had to go to the lockers first and change into our uniforms since we can't practice wearing our civilian clothes, i mean that's bery uncomfy.

locker room.

"hey, hey, hey, yo! that's my hoodie, damn it, carson. give it back, man" one of the players shouted enough for everyone to hear, the rest of us started laughing, happens every practice, charles and porter always bicker first before even putting their uniforms on.

after i closed my locker door, i began sitting down and tying my shoes. as i did sam decided to sit beside me "you aight, bro?" i turned to face him, "of course, man." i nodded, "you sure?" he asked again he doesn't seem like his okay with my answer, i nodded again, and this time he nodded.

someone opened the door. "alright, jaguars. are y'all ready?" coach shouted with full excitement, all of us responded "hell yeah!" everyone clapped and began heading out as soon as coach fields opened the door and began shouting let's go.
