Y/n took another sip of her milkshake and sighed.

"My dad... he's just a total jerk. He doesn't get me or anything I want. He thinks he knows best but he's wrong. He thinks he is so so smart but he is just dumb as fuck.

"Sounds like someone I know." Johnny muttered, half to himself.

"Your father. Yeah, I remember."

"Yeah, a lot of parents are like that. Think they know everything." Johnny sarcasticslly laughed.

"Yeah, well, my dad's worse. He thinks he can control everything in my life... when he really doesn't even care about what I want. And now he's back. Like, seriously. After all this time." She scoffed

"So he is really back, huh." He asked.

He was still uncertain about his return but now it was confirmed.

"Yeah, the day of the tournament. Just shows up like nothing happened. It's... it's annoying. I don't like it at all." She sighed

That hit Johnny harder than he expected. He'd known that Y/n's relationship with her dad was complicated but hearing it this way made him understand a lot more.

All her actions, the sneaking out, the distance...everything was because of her father.

"So that's why she did all this... because of him.Now that I know the truth, I'm gonna fight for her."

He knew he could just not live without her. But beforer knowing all of this, he always thought maybe it was him. That he was the reason she broke up with him but her father was the reason all along.

He didn't say it out loud but in his heart, he knew. He'd been too hesitant before but now he wasn't going to let her slip away.

"When did he come back?" Johnny asked.

"Like I said, the day of the tournament." She answered.

"I get it now... everything you've been doing... it's all because of him."

Y/n just nodded, not fully realizing the effect her words were having on Johnny.

But for him, it was clear now. He was going to fight for her. He wasn't going to let her father get in the way of what they had.

Johnny also knew she loved karate and what if he left cobra kai on her fathers say too? Now that he had the chance, he wanted to ask her that.

"Is your dad the reason you left Cobra Kai?" he asked.

"Yeah... he hated it. Said it was bad for me, that it would change me. And I... I didn't want to disappoint him but most of it was because I knew that I could not stop him." She sighed.

Johnny could see the sadness in her face and it made him feel bad. He didn't want her to be upset, especially not after everything she had shared. So, he decided to lighten the mood.

"Well, if it makes you feel better, I think Cobra Kai was way cooler than whatever your dad wanted you to do. I mean, who needs his opinion when you've got the best karate partner in town, right?"

Y/n blinked at him, a little confused and then she couldn't help but laugh.

"You really think you're the best?" She teased, her smile finally coming through.

"Of course. Who else could pull off this level of awesomeness?" He shrugged.

"You're ridiculous." She chuckled and Johnny could tell she was starting to feel a little better.

"Hey, I try." He replied with a wink, happy to see her smile again.

For a moment, the sadness seemed to lift from her and Johnny felt a small victory. He knew it wasn't much, but making her laugh was the least he could do for now.

After they finished their milkshakes, Johnny stood up and stretched, looking at Y/n with a grin.

"Alright, ready for the walk back?"

Y/n looked at him with wide eyes and a cheeky smile.

"Walk? Who needs to walk when there's a perfectly good piggyback ride waiting for me?"

Johnny raised an eyebrow, already knowing where this was going.

"No way. Not again."

But Y/n wasn't having any of it. She put on her best puppy dog eyes and begged.

"Pleaaaase, Johnny! My legs are tired and I'm way too tipsy to walk!" She threw in a dramatic sigh for extra effect.

"You're impossible." he muttered as he crouched down, offering his back.

"But fine, this is the last time, alright?"

Y/n immediately jumped onto his back, giggling like she'd won a prize.

"Yay! You're the best!" she said, giving him a quick hug.

As Johnny started walking, Y/n didn't stop with the jokes.

"So, if I'm on your back, does that make me the king and you my loyal steed?" She asked

"I think I'm starting to regret this." he said.

"Do you think your neighbors are jealous of our incredible bond right now? I bet they are!" She laughed.

"You're nuts, you know that?"

"Well, someone has to be the fun one around here!"

As they walked through the streets, Y/n kept making silly comments about everything she could think of.

"If I fall off, you better catch me or else I'll have to haunt you forever!"

Johnny snorted.

"Yeah, sure, a ghost who never shuts up. That's exactly what I need."

.

They finally reached Johnny's house and Y/n slipped off his back, still laughing.

"That was the best ride ever! I'm never walking again." She declared with a smile.

"Well, you might not have to. But let's get inside before you start making even more ridiculous jokes."

"Fine but only because I like you." She said, skipping inside.

Johnny carefully guided Y/n into the house, trying to keep her steady as she giggled about something only she found funny.

As they stepped inside, Johnny's mother was still in the kitchen, washing up. She turned around, immediately raising an eyebrow at the sight of Y/n leaning on Johnny for balance.

"What on earth is going on here?" She asked, drying her hands with a towel.

"Why is she with you, Johnny?"

Y/n waved enthusiastically.

"Hi, Mrs. Lawrence! Your son is my loyal steed tonight. Best piggyback ride ever!"

Johnny's mom's eyes widened and she quickly walked over.

"Johnny, do you realise if your father finds out that Jones' daughter is in this house with you, he'll kill you?"

"What's the big deal? She's just drunk, not dangerous."

His mother sighed, looking at Y/n as she swayed in place, giggling at a random decoration on the wall.

"What's wrong with her? Nothing. But she's Jones' daughter. That's the problem."

"Jones? Wait, what? What's that got to do with anything?"

"Yep, I'm Jones' daughter! Ta-da!" Y/n struck a dramatic pose like it was a grand announcement.

Johnny's mom just shook her head.

"You really don't know, do you?Just get her upstairs before your father sees her. We'll talk about this later."

Still confused but not wanting to push his luck, Johnny nodded and quickly led Y/n toward the stairs. Yn trailed behind him, pointing at random things on the wall.

"Wow, your house is so... house-y. I like it here."

Johnny glanced back at her.

"Come on, Y/n. Let's get you to my room before you start redecorating."

.

As they entered Johnny's room, Y/n immediately flopped onto his bed, stretching out dramatically like she was claiming it as her own.

"Ugh, this bed is amazing." She slurred, rolling onto her stomach.

"But these clothes? Nope. Johnny, gimme your clothes. I need something comfy!"

Johnny pulled open a drawer.

"Fine, but don't ruin them." He muttered, tossing her his favourite T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants.

Y/n caught them with one hand...barely and grinned.

"Thanks, Johnny boy!" She said, sitting up. Then she looked around.

"Wait, where am I sleeping? Not here, right?"

Johnny pointed to the bed.

"You're sleeping here. I'll take the couch."

Y/n gasped dramatically, holding her chest like he'd insulted her.

"No way! You're not sleeping on the couch because of me. I'm the guest. I'll take the couch!"

Johnny rolled his eyes.

"Y/n, you're not sleeping on the couch. Just stay on the bed and stop arguing."

But Yn wasn't having it. She crossed her arms, narrowing her tipsy eyes at him.

"Johnny, if you don't let me take the couch, I'll... I'll cry!" She threatened with her lips trembling in an exaggerated way.

"And you hate when girls cry, don't you?" She asked.

Johnny sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Fine, Y/n. You want the couch? Take the couch. I don't care anymore." He turned back toward the drawer to grab a pillow for himself.

"Good!" Y/n declared triumphantly.

"Now, time to get comfy." She stood up, wobbling a bit and started tugging at her top like she was about to change right there.

Johnny's eyes widened in panic.

"Whoa! Whoa, whoa! What are you doing? Stop!" He quickly spun around, grabbing her by the shoulders and steering her toward the bathroom.

"Go change in there! This isn't a fashion show!"

Y/n giggled, letting him guide her.

"Relax, Johnny. It's just clothes!" she said with a tipsy laugh, leaning on the doorframe.

Johnny shook his head, pointing to the bathroom.

"Just... go. And don't break anything!"

She saluted him sloppily.

"Aye, aye, Captain Cobra!" she said before stumbling into the bathroom.

"Why me?" He muttered.

.

Y/n stumbled out of the bathroom wearing Johnny's oversized T-shirt and sweatpants.

"Oh my gosh, these are sooo comfy." she said, tugging at the shirt that practically reached her knees.

"I might just keep them. You don't mind, right?"

Johnny gave her a wary look.

"Yeah, I mind. They're my clothes. Sit down and chill, Y/n."

But Y/n had other plans. She spun around, taking in the room like she was on a guided tour.

"Wow, Johnny, your room is so... boy-ish. Look at all this!" She reached for a trophy on his shelf, squinting at it.

"Is this for karate? Or did you win this for being the most annoying person in Reseda?"

Johnny groaned, getting up quickly.

"Put that down before you drop it, Y/n."

She ignored him, now pulling open a random drawer.

"What's in here? Socks? Oh wait, is this your secret stash of love letters?" She gasped dramatically, pulling out a random piece of paper.

"Is this from your secret girlfriend? Wait, is it from me?" She teased, waving it in his face.

Johnny snatched the paper away.

"It's a grocery list, you lunatic! Stop messing with my stuff!"

Y/n pouted.

"You're no fun."

Then her eyes lit up as she spotted his Cobra Kai jacket draped over a chair. She darted over to it.

"Ohhh, this is fancy. Can I wear it? Please, Johnny? Pretty please?"

"No!" Johnny shot back, trying to block her but Y/n was quicker...barely. She snatched the jacket and threw it over her shoulders, dramatically posing like she was in a magazine.

"Look at me! I'm Johnny Lawrence, Cobra Kai king! Fear does not exist in this dojo!" She declared, stumbling on her words but still grinning like a fool.

Johnny couldn't help but laugh a little, even as he tried to take the jacket back.

"Okay, okay, you've had your fun. Now give it back before you ruin it. And you have your own."

Y/n hugged the jacket tighter, giggling.

"Never! It's mine now. You'll have to fight me for it." She raised her fists like she was ready for a karate match, swaying slightly on her feet.

Johnny rolled his eyes but played along, stepping closer.

"Oh, you wanna fight? Alright but don't cry when you lose."

Y/n tried to kick at him but her coordination was completely off and she ended up falling forward...right into Johnny. He caught her just before she hit the floor.

"See? Told you you'd lose." He teased, helping her stand up straight.

Y/n giggled, holding onto his arm for balance.

"Okay, fine, you win. But I'm keeping the jacket for now. It smells like... you. Like karate and... hair gel." She sniffed it dramatically, making Johnny laugh despite himself.

"Alright, that's enough exploring. You've terrorized my room long enough." Johnny said, guiding her back toward the couch. But Y/n spotted something else...a photo on his nightstand.

"Wait, wait, what's this?" She said, grabbing it before Johnny could stop her.

It was a picture of Johnny with his Cobra Kai friends.

"Aw, look at you! You were such a baby here! What happened?" She teased, poking his cheek.

Johnny groaned, snatching the photo back.

"Alright, bedtime, Y/n. No more exploring."

Yln flopped onto the couch, still laughing.

"Fine but only because you're boring now. But Johnny? You're kinda fun when you're not yelling all the time."

Johnny rolled his eyes, pulling a blanket over her.

"Goodnight, Y/n. Please, just sleep."

Y/n grinned, snuggling into the couch.

"Night, Johnny-boy. Thanks for the clothes. And the jacket. And the comedy show."

"Why do I even put up with her?" He muttered.

.

The room finally went quiet and Johnny sighed in relief, thinking Y/n had finally dozed off. But then, her voice broke the silence like a fire alarm.

"Johnny... why do guys have eyebrows?" She asked.

Johnny groaned, rubbing his face.

"What kind of question is that?"

"I mean...they're just like... fuzzy caterpillars on your face. Do you ever wish you didn't have them? Would you shave them off for a million dollars?"

Johnny sat up, glaring at her.

"Y/n, it's late. Go to sleep."

"But seriously." She persisted, rolling onto her stomach and looking at him like she'd just unlocked the mysteries of the universe.

"What if eyebrows are secretly controlling us? Like, what if they're little aliens that-"

"Y/n." Johnny interrupted, holding up his hand.

"Stop before I lose what's left of my sanity."

She ignored him, sitting up excitedly.

"Okay, okay but listen to this. If I marry someone with a unibrow, does that make me cooler or weirder? Like, would people think, 'Wow, Y/n's bold,' or 'Wow, Yln made a terrible life choice'?"

Johnny rolled his eyes and threw a pillow at her.

"It makes you sound insane, that's what it does."

She laughed, hugging the pillow.

"You're so mean! You could've just said I'd be bold."

Johnny groaned, leaning back.

"Fine, you'd be bold. Now go to sleep before you ask me something worse."

But Yln wasn't done.

"Do you think fish get thirsty?"

Johnny's head snapped up.

"What?"

"Fish." she repeated slowly, as if he didn't understand.

"Do they get thirsty? Or are they just like, swimming in their drink?"

Johnny stared at her for a long moment.

"I can't believe I'm having this conversation right now."

"You're welcome for the brain exercise." She smirked.

"Brain exercise? This is torture!" Johnny shot back.

"See? I knew you couldn't ignore me forever. Admit it, I make your life interesting."

"Yeah, interesting like a car crash."

"Aw, thanks, Johnny!" She said, throwing the pillow back at him.

"You're my favourite car crash!"

Y/n again suddenly sat up which immediately set off alarms in Johnny's head.

"What's that look for?" He asked, sitting up slightly on the bed.

Without answering, she stood up and wobbled her way over to his bed. Johnny froze.

"Y/n, what are you-?"

Before he could finish, she climbed onto the bed...and then onto him. Johnny's entire body went rigid.

"Y/n! What the hell are you doing?!" he half yelled, half whispered in order not to wake the whole house.

She smirked down at him.

"You said I needed to prove I don't like Mike. So..." She leaned in slightly, her face much too close for Johnny's comfort.

"Here's your proof."

Johnny's brain short circuited. He didn't think she'd actually take his earlier joke seriously...she was drunk, for crying out loud!

His hands shot up, not knowing whether to push her off or keep her steady so she didn't fall.

"Y/n, get off me. You're drunk and this is... not okay!"

But she didn't budge.

"Why not? I'm just proving a point."

Johnny's face turned red, his hands awkwardly holding her shoulders to keep her from tipping over.

"This isn't proving anything except that you're out of your mind! Now, get down before you fall and break something...or I do!"

"Aw, Johnny, are you scared of me? You're so cute when you're nervous."

Johnny groaned, his heart racing for all the wrong reasons.

"I'm not nervous...I'm annoyed! Y/n, seriously, this is insane. You're going to regret this in the morning."

But Y/n just smiled cheekily.

"I'll regret not finishing my milkshake, but this? Nah."

Johnny's grip tightened on her shoulders.

"Y/n, I mean it. Off. Now."

She pouted but finally gave in, flopping back onto the bed with a dramatic sigh.

"You're no fun."

Johnny let out a relieved breath, running a hand through his hair.

"You're a walking disaster, you know that?"

Y/n grinned up at him from the bed.

"And yet, here you are, still keeping me around."

He grabbed a blanket to toss over her.

"You're lucky I don't just throw you out the window."

Her laughter filled the room and despite everything, Johnny found himself smirking. She was chaos incarnate but somehow, he couldn't stay mad at her for long.

As Johnny turned to grab the blanket, Y/n suddenly reached out with her fingers wrapping around his wrist. Before he could react, she tugged him down towards her with surprising strength.

"Y/n-what are you doing?"

She didn't answer. Instead, her eyes locked with his. Then, in one bold impulsive move, she pulled him closer and kissed him.

Johnny froze for a moment, caught off guard, but the kiss felt so familiar, so much like their first time...back when things between them were simpler, pure and full of fire.

Her lips were warm, her touch hesitant but still full of emotion as if she'd been waiting for this moment all along.

The world around them seemed to disappear. Johnny's hand instinctively cupped her face, his thumb brushing her cheek as he deepened the kiss, his own emotions getting the better of him.

She tasted like sweet milkshake and a hint of trouble and for a moment, he forgot everything...her being drunk, the late hour, even the fact that this might be a terrible idea.

Y/n's fingers slid into his hair, tugging him closer and Johnny couldn't help but smile against her lips, the memory of their past kisses flooding back.

It was messy, impulsive and entirely her.

When they finally pulled away, both of them were breathless. Johnny's forehead rested against hers.

"You're going to blame this on the milkshake tomorrow, aren't you?"

"Maybe. Or maybe I'll just say I missed you."

Johnny's chest tightened at her words but he quickly pulled back, reminding himself of the situation.

"You're drunk, Y/n. You're not even going to remember this."

But Y/n shook her head, smiling lazily at him.

"I'll remember. I always remember with you."

Johnny sighed with his hand on her cheek for just a moment longer before he gently pulled away, tucking her back under the blanket.

His heart was still pounding but he knew this wasn't the right time to let things go further.

"Get some sleep, Y/n. We'll talk in the morning."

But he couldn't stop the small, stupid grin spreading across his face. For the first time in a long while, it felt like they weren't so far apart.

A/n: ha! Jokes on you, Lawrence.
