Tommy, Bobby, Dutch and Jimmy excused themselves to use the washroom. Left behind were Johnny, Mike, Daniel and Y/n.

Daniel leaned against the nearest wall. He glanced at Johnny, who was standing nearby with his hands in his jacket pockets, looking like he was deep in thought.

Y/n stood beside Daniel, fiddling with her sleeve while Mike stayed slightly off to the side, leaning on a bench and quietly observing.

"You’ve got that look, Johnny." Daniel suddenly said.

Johnny frowned, turning his head.

"What look?"

"The look that says you’re dying to ask a question but don’t know how. Come on, just spit it out alread." Daniel smirked.

Johnny rolled his eyes.

“I’m not thinking about anything, Larusso.”

“Sure, sure.” Daniel said with a laugh.

“But if I had to guess, I’d say you’re wondering why Y/n and I joined Cobra Kai.”

At Daniel’s words, Yln stiffened slightly, her eyes darting to Johnny. She could tell by the way his jaw tightened that Daniel had hit the mark.

Johnny hesitated for a moment, as if deciding whether to play it cool or actually ask.

Finally, he gave in.

“Alright, fine. Since you brought it up...why did you?” His gaze was fixed on Y/n, not Daniel.

Daniel started to answer but Y/n interrupted, not liking the way Johnny was looking at her like she owed him an explanation.

“What, is it a crime now? We thought it’d be fun. Is that such a big deal?”

“Fun? You thought Cobra Kai was for fun? You know it’s not just some after school club, right?” He scoffed.

“I know what it is, Johnny. I don’t need you to remind me.”

Mike shifted uncomfortably, glancing away as if he didn’t want to intrude on whatever was happening.

“So, what? You just decided to waltz in like nothing ever happened?” Johnny asked.

“Why does it matter to you? It’s not like you’re the gatekeeper of Cobra Kai.” She scoffed.

“It doesn’t matter.” Johnny said quickly, though the way he said it made it clear that it did.

“I just think it’s... interesting. You two showing up out of nowhere, acting all buddy buddy with my friends.”

“Your friends?” Y/n repeated, raising an eyebrow.

“Last I checked, they’re not property, Johnny.”

Johnny sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

“Forget it.” He muttered, turning away.

“Gladly.” Y/n said.

But even as she said it, she felt regret. Things between them had always been complicated but now it felt like they couldn’t even have a normal conversation without it turning into a fight.

“Alright, well, now that’s settled... or not. Johnny, you’re acting like we broke into your dojo. Kreese welcomed us, didn’t he?” Daniel asked.

Johnny glanced at Daniel.

“Yeah, well, Kreese has his reasons.”

Mike, who had been quiet the entire time, finally spoke up.

“I don’t think it’s my place to say anything, but... maybe we should just let it go?”

Y/n sighed, feeling drained.

“Mike’s right. This doesn’t have to be such a big deal. We’re just trying to be part of the group. That’s all.”

Johnny looked at her for a long moment. Finally, he shrugged.

“Whatever. Do what you want.”

But the way he said it lacked the usual bite and Y/n couldn’t help but wonder if there was more he wanted to say but wouldn’t.

Just then, the others returned, laughing and joking as they rejoined the group.

Y/n quietly slipped away from the group. Her face was calm but anyone paying attention could tell her mood had shifted.

She didn’t say goodbye or explain why she was leaving...she just walked off.

Mike noticed first, frowning as he watched her go.

“Where’s Y/n going?” he asked, glancing around at the others.

Johnny shrugged, trying to look indifferent but his eyes flickered in her direction.

“Who cares? Let her go.”

Daniel shot Johnny a look.

“Seriously? You think that attitude helps?”

“What attitude? She’s not my problem.”

“You’re impossible sometimes, Johnny. It’s obvious she’s upset and I think we all know why.” Daniel said.

Tommy, ever the peacemaker, stepped in.

“Come on, guys. Let’s not start fighting about this.”

“Yeah but Daniel’s got a point. Y/n didn’t just leave for no reason. Something’s bothering her.” Bobby said.

“It’s probably because of earlier. All that back and forth with Johnny. You didn’t have to push her like that.” Mike said.

Johnny rolled his eyes.

“I didn’t push her. She’s the one who started it.”

“She only started because you couldn’t stop with your questions. You always have to poke at people, don’t you?” Daniel scoffed.

“Oh, give me a break. You are the one who started it and she’s been in Cobra Kai for one day and suddenly she gets to act like she knows everything? She’s been gone for how long, Daniel? Months?”

“Well, to be fair, you did kind of come at her hard, Johnny. Not saying I blame you, though.” Dutch shrugged.

Jimmy elbowed Dutch lightly.

“Don’t make it worse, man.”

“It’s not about whether she’s been gone or not. She came back, didn’t she? That should mean something. But instead of making her feel welcome, you’re just... I don’t know, acting weird about it.” Mike said.

Johnny scoffed, looking away.

“I’m not acting weird.”

Tommy raised an eyebrow.

“Really? Because it feels like you’re still hung up on her.”

Johnny turned to glare at Tommy.

“I’m not hung up on her.”

“Sure you’re not.” Daniel muttered under his breath, earning another glare from Johnny.

Bobby sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Look, it doesn’t matter why Y/n left. What matters is that she’s upset and maybe one of us should go after her.”

The group went quiet for a moment, each of them considering it. Finally, Mike shook his head.

“She needs some space. Let her cool off. If we try to talk to her now, it might just make things worse.”

Jimmy nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, Mike’s probably right. Let’s give her some time.”

Johnny stayed quiet. He didn’t like the idea of Y/n being upset but he also didn’t know how to fix it...especially when he knew he’d been part of the reason she left.

He told himself it didn’t matter but deep down, he knew it did.
