โโ DREAM WAS HAPPY TO SHOW YOU AROUND THE LAND
there really wasn't much to it yet; it was forever growing and expanding. He said you could build your place wherever you wanted, it was all free game.
"Honestly, there isn't much to this place yet," He said, "but I know it'll grow into a great country."
You smile at the masked man, "I'm sure it will."
"That concludes our tour, again, nothing too exciting yet. I'll let you get to it, yeah?"
You turn to face Dream from the small cliff you were overlooking, "Yeah, thanks again."
He nods in response, taking a pearl out of his pocket and disappearing into the distance. You watched him leave, wondering if you had been too quick to judge him earlier. His presence wasn't as unsettling as before, but one had to wonder what was hidden under the porcelain mask. Was he hiding something simple like a scar? Or was his secret bigger than both of you?
It wasn't your place to ask, but the thought lingered in your mind. How well could you trust someone whose face you couldn't see? You bite your lip thoughtfully, gazing out at the land, still in a bit of awe at the place you stumbled upon. You didn't want to allow yourself to hope too much, but it seemed this place might be your forever home. It seemed like a paradise, a light in all the dark. It was bright like a Beacon, attracting the attention of many.
After a few more minutes of silence, you take a deep breath.
It was time to find Tubbo.
...
You push the branches obstructing your view out of the way. You can faintly hear voices in the distance, all of them male. You recognize one as your brother; the other was more high pitched and loud in contrast to the other, which was more calm and deep. Twigs and leaves snap under your feet as you continue your walk through the oak forest, it couldn't have been any further. It didn't sound like they were moving.
"I found him on the side of the road!"
"The side of the road?"
"Yeah! Can we keep him?"
"Tommy, he's not a pet."
You push the final branch out of the way and emerge in the small clearing. Tubbo and a blonde's boy face in the opposite direction of you, but the other saw you instantly; his eyes widen, lips parting as he takes you in. His warm eyes meet yours, and you blink, a fluttering feeling in your stomach.
"Wilbur?" The blonde asked, waving a hand in front of his face. He scoffs when he gets no reply and turns around to see you.
"Woman!" He screams, pointing at you. "I told you I was a woman magnet, Wilbur. They all come flocking towards me."
You nod slowly, a few questions running through your mind. So much for his first impression. The blonde was tall, wearing a simple red and white shirt with a bandana around his neck. His blue eyes sparkled with a certain fire in them, something that ran much deeper than friendship. Your eyes move to the other boy. His eyes were kind, hair messily pushed out of his face. He has bright orange pants paired with a black and orange jacket. If you were being honest, he resembled a traffic cone.
The one you assume is Wilbur rolls his eyes at Tommy, "I doubt that's why she's here."
Tommy takes that as a personal attack (you would soon learn he takes everything that way), "Woman, why have you come into my presence?"
"I'm here for Tubbo," You said, grabbing his arm and pulling him to your side.
Tommy turns toward him. "You know her?"
"That's my sister I told you about earlier."
"You never told me about a sister."
"Uh, yeah I did."
"No, you didn't."
"I'm pretty sure I did and you weren't listening."
"Oh," Tommy said, a thoughtful look passes over his face, "Yeah, that sounds about right."
"So, (Y/N), right?" Wilbur asked.
"Yeah," You said, faintly surprised he knew your name.
He extends a hand out towards you, and you grab it, shaking it.
You're not sure if it's just you, but you could've sworn he held on for a few seconds longer than necessary before letting go.
"I'm Wilbur, Wilbur Soot. It's lovely to meet you," He said.
You smile at him. "Likewise."
There's a brief moment of silence as you two stare at each other before Tommy coughs, "Okay, well if you guys are doing with whatever this is, I'd like to pick a place for Tubbo's house. Preferably near mine so I can fetch him easily."
Wilbur flushes, stepping back from you and glaring at Tommy, who just smirks at him.
That's where it started, everything.
You never would've guessed how one interaction, one person, one handshake could change everything so quickly. Ever since that moment, your life had become something else entirely. You were quick to build friendships with the people of the Dream SMP, helping out whenever you could. It almost seemed too good to be true, you had just been so happy. Everyone was kind, helping you settle in and show you around the place. You didn't really see Dream much after the first interaction, but that didn't bother you. Instead, you found yourself having heartfelt conversations with Sapnap and Punz, and extravagant adventures with Tommy, Wilbur, Tubbo, and Fundy. It was like something out of a movie, but then there was a shift.
What started as a drug van grew into a fight for independence. A fight against Dream, for the better of L'manberg.
At first, you had been skeptical, you didn't ask questions about Wilbur's drug van, but like anything else, you got dragged into it. You let Wilbur and Tommy do what they please. You didn't ask too many questions, after all, you were just grateful to be in this place. But it turned into something else, it turned into something worth fighting for.
It showed you the side of Dream you didn't know, a side that wasn't warm and full of light, but a side that was cold and full of greed. All they wanted was independence, and you weren't a politician, but you figured the terms were pretty simple.
And Dream said no.
Actually, he didn't even say no, he and Sapnap set the forest on fire and handed Wilbur a declaration of war. Wilbur asked for freedom, and in reply, he was given war. At that moment, you had doubts, doubts about this place and if it was safe, but something was tugging at your heart, and despite the impending war, you stayed.
You gave Wilbur your hand and a promise to fight because, in the end, this was your home, and you weren't going to watch it fall apart like your last one. No, you were going to stand with a sword in hand and face whatever was thrown on you.
Which happened to be the burning down of Tubbo's house and a nasty threat from Dream. You would be lying if you said he didn't scare you. His voice was cruel, cutting through the air and the crackling fire around him. His tone was harsh, and though you can't see his face under the mask, there's a hint of a grin that makes you sick to your stomach.
His words still ring in your head, "I want to see white flags, white flags outside your base by tomorrow at dawn or you are dead."
You had to wonder if there was truly a person behind that mask, though you couldn't see his face, his words were dripping with hatred, but for what or who?
"They're surrounding us, Wilbur," Tommy said, peering out the window, interrupting your thoughts. "Every corner."
Wilbur stops dead in his tracks, closing the declaration, he stops at the doorway to the van, gazing out at the water before him.
"See if they shoot," Tommy said, standing behind him.
A single arrow is fired, flames bursting at the tip. It lands on the ground, and Wilbur frowns, "It's not the best shot, I would say."
Tommy pushes past Wilbur, glancing outside at your enemies preached on the walls, like a hawk waiting for its prey. "If they shoot Wilbur, that's how we know if we can negotiate."
Wilbur grabs Tommy's shoulder, pushing him back inside the van, he extends his hand out, a smirk on his face, "Gentleman, how are you?"
"Good," Dream answered, crossbow loaded as he stares Wilbur down with interest.
"Do you like the view of our nation?"
"I thought this was a trailer park."
Wilbur rolls his eyes, "Very funny, listen."
"Yeah bitch!" Tommy cheers. You stifle a laugh, this was a serious moment, but Tommy had a way of making every situation lighthearted. He took it as it came and twisted his way out of it with a few insults.
"We will meet you on the field, but on our own terms," Wilbur continued.
"Yeah!" Tommy agreed, Fundy shushing him as Tommy insists he's just being supportive. Wilbur steps down onto the grass, intending on picking a place for the first fight, when an arrow flies right past Tommy, landing in the wall behind him.
Tommy screams, "You could've killed me!"
"Oh god," Tubbo whispered, taking the arrow out of the wall and inspecting the pointed tip.
"Armor on," Wilbur said, turning towards your group. The battle continues and your first fight is on Tommy's turf, the embassy. You're stood next to Tubbo, netherite and diamond covering your body as you draw your sword, but you don't get far as the first shot is fired.
"Everyone get back!" Tommy shouts, running towards his house.
You're confused at first, but then you hear the sizzling. An explosion wrecked the land, more following suit as you hear the laughter of Dream from his little tower. He watched as you and everyone else scramble inside Tommy's little dirt shack for shelter.
It's pathetic. You should be one his side. You were supposed to be his ally. Where had he gone wrong?
He places a hand on his mask, dragging it down and making sure it's covering his entire face. How could any of you possibly think you could take on him? Were you really that stupid to think you could win? Dream didn't start this SMP for it to be divided into its own countries.
No, he wanted it all for himself. It was his SMP, the Dream SMP. This wasn't the Dream SMP and L'manberg, this was his. He worked hard for what he had, he lost too much to just sit and watch it fall to the hands of someone that isn't him.
Dream clutches his hand at his side, feeling his nails dig crescents in his skin, waiting till the skin broke and warm blood ran down his hands.
But his hands had already been stained with blood long before this.
If his friends notice, they don't say anything. George gives an almost troubled glance but shrugs it off and prepares another arrow.
Dream unclenches his fists, offering a brief glimpse at the blood dripping from them, but he leaves it be. There were bigger issues at hand; he's not sure what's going inside the embassy, but he waits calmly until everyone comes running out. Then he takes his shot, but you're faster and he makes the call to retreat when you get too close to him. What he needs is a higher vantage point. Somewhere he can get a hawk eyes view of you and your little gang. He doesn't want to miss another shot, if this war ends in bloodshed, then so be it.
But it doesn't, no, you keep fighting. You keep pushing all his buttons, making him angrier when you succeed. His vision is colored red, arrow after arrow flying out of his crossbow, but each one missing, he can't reach you, any of you. His anger gets the most of him, making him reckless.
"Dream," Sapnap spoke up, lowering his bow.
Dream ignores him; he knows what he's going to say. Instead, he picks up another arrow and fires, listening to Tommy and Wilbur's laughs when it misses. It only pisses him off more, and he goes to grab another arrow when a hand stops him.
He seethes, snapping his head towards them, only to find George.
"Dream," He pleads.
Despite himself, Dream lowers his weapon, tucking it away and letting the arrow fall.
"We still have a chance," Punz reminded, referring to the secret weapon they secured.
"I know," Dream said, adjusting his mask once again; "let's just hope he pulls through."
He can hear your excited cheer drifting in the wind as you celebrate over your win. You felt it was well deserved, you didn't escape without a few bruises, of course, but now it felt like you could go home and really relax.
"Let's head back," Wilbur said. He stood tall, pride rolling off him in waves as he gazes at his people. You pass by him, bumping his shoulder and throwing him a playful grin. He chuckles, following after you as Tommy cheers loudly, him and Tubbo laughing as they thrive off their first real war.
Wilbur catches up to you, matching your pace as you push through the forest. His hand brushes against yours, seemingly by mistake, and you brush it off, still on a big of a high from the adrenaline. It felt good to win.
"Gentleman, in L'manberg, I have worked hard... for a secret weapon," Eret said suddenly, turning around a wicked grin on his face.
You turn to Wilbur, gauging his reaction, but he looks just as surprised as you.
"A secret weapon?" Tubbo asked excitedly, eyes shining.
"What is it?" Wilbur questioned as you entered L'manberg.
"I'll show you," Eret said, pushing past some vines to reveal a secret bunker. "The final control room."
You gasp at the blackstone walls, chests lining the room, with names scrawled on them. The room was small, but it was secure. You could only imagine what might be in those chests. You run over to yours like a child on Christmas; it's next to Wilbur and near the dark wall. You open it only to find nothing. Your face falls as you gaze into the emptiness. You close your chest, turning to Wilbur only to find the same puzzled expression mirrored on his face. His eyebrows furrow, eyes glazing over when he comes to a terrible realization.
"Eret-"
There's a click, and suddenly the wall opens up, Dream stepping out, sword in his hand as he gets straight to work.
"A traitor!" Wilbur shouts, drawing his weapon, "Everyone out!"
You grab your sword, holding it up just in time to deflect Punz's. You meet his blue eyes, they're blazing with what you mistake as rage, but it's only adrenaline.
You spin around, hoping to crack down on him, but he blocks you easily, grinning at your attempt to take him down. Sure, you're good, you'd prepared for this, but he's better.
You bite the inside of your cheek, trying to block out the cries of everyone else in the room. You make the mistake of glancing over at Tubbo, and Punz takes the split second to get a hit in. His sword burns against your skin, and you hiss as you move to block his next attack.
"What do you even get out of this?" You ask, still pushing against him, swords screeching against each other. Your feet dig into the floor, keeping you from slipping as Punz slams against your sword with incredible strength. Your arms burn as you try to think of a way out of this one.
You can see Tommy and Dream dueling in the corner of your eye, Tubbo back to back with him and deflecting George's attacks.
You can hear Fundy repeatedly cursing out Eret, the same for Wilbur. You can't see him, but he keeps throwing glances over his shoulder, reassuring himself you're still okay, even if it costs him a few burns from Sapnap.
"Money," Punz answered, drawing back his sword causing you to stumble when the force is gone. He laughs, cutting across the skin of your leg as you fall, sword clattering against the floor, just out of your reach. Punz is ready to land another blow, but you use your good leg and all the force you can muster to swing your feet across his shins, causing him to fall.
You reach out for your sword, only to see a boot step on it. Dream looms over you, the two black points of his mask staring at you as he tilts his head to the side, like he's inspecting you.
"Did you need this?" He asked, voice taunting as he kicks it across the room, almost out of your grasp. You don't have the energy to grab it.
He lends a hand to Punz, pulling him to his feet as he and his team stand together at the back of the room. You're sprawled out on the floor, the rest of your team much the same, blood pooling on the ground. Your eyes land on your brother, bloody and bruised and you question if you had made the right call. Was this better than before? It seemed like it was worse, Tubbo was hurt. He could've died in this room, and you would've had to live with that. You hang your head low, both in defeat and in thought.
"Down with the revolution boys," Eret laughed, smirk crawling up his face, "It was never meant to be."
"Eret, listen to me," Tommy said, voice hoarse as he pants heavily. "And I mean this in the nicest way possible, you fucked up."
