Finally, the last shot rang out, the doors unlocked and we returned to the center. The music began once more, and the anticipation rose. Blood was still all over the floor and the spinning platform.
"Four players." Someone immediately grabbed me. I was shoved into the room, where I looked to see who was there. Dae-Ho, Jung Bae, and my father were all in the room with me, but Young-il wasn't.
"Young-Il's going to be okay right?" Dae-ho asked, I peeked through the little opening in the door, people were still clamoring about. Eventually, the gunshots began ringing again, and everyone who hadn't made it was killed immediately. The lights came back from the flickering. The doors unlocked, we walked out and we looked for young-il.
"Young-Il?" we called out, I looked for him in groups of people
"Y/n!" I heard a voice call out, I turned to my left. Young-il was okay.
"I'm glad you're okay!" Jung-Bae replied, giving him a big bear hug. He turned to Gi-hun and looked at me. I smiled.
"I was worried, but I'm happy you're okay," I said. Gi-hun turned to me and looked at Young-il.
"Yeah, I wanted to make sure you were safe." He paused for a moment as we all went silent. "I wanted to make sure you all were safe." He corrected, dropping his head a bit. We walked back over to the platform.
"I see what you did there." I bumped into his arm with a smirk. He looked over at me as I walked ahead of him. The platform began spinning for about 15 seconds, then stopped again. This time, it was three players. Dae-ho grabbed me and dragged me along with Jung-Bae. Young-il and Gi-hun were left; they had to find someone else.
"Did you see where Young-il went?" I asked, looking out the hole in the door.
"I'm sure he's fine," Jung-bae said. Dae-ho nodded, putting a hand on my shoulder. Suddenly the locks unlocked, and we walked out of the small room.
"Y/n!" called out from my right, My father. He walked over with Young-il, they both looked at me making sure I was all right. "Are you okay?" He said with concern plastered on his face.
"I'm fine. Who did you guys get for your third person?" I turned to Young-il, slightly brushing my father off.
"That old lady," Young-Il pointed to the lady I had first seen when we all got here. The group came to us, they thanked Gi-Hun and Young-il. A player had lightly spoken, the old lady and him embraced. It seems they were separated, the two cried a bit. After the small reunion we went back onto the platform, our two groups became a big one. The old lady was clutching the man's hand, they definingly weren't willing to be separated again. We spun around for a bit before it stopped once more.
"Six players!" The announcement was made, instantly I grabbed the nearest hand, which of course was Young-il. I didn't make eye contact as we decided on our group. I ended up going with 007, 222, 120, Dae-ho and one other. We ran frantically to the door. 120 looked out to a call of her name. Player 095 had fallen, before 120 could react, a man came in pushing her back, slamming the door. The timer rang, the door locking.
"Unnie," player 095 came to the door, tears filled in her eyes.
"Young Mi!" Player 120 yelled trying to open the door, gunshots rang out. "Young Mi!" Player 120 yelled out, a loud bang spooked us. I flinched a bit. Young Mi slowly fell from our sight, she was shot. Unnie, Player 120 kept trying to open the door. Frantically calling her friend's name. I turned my head and covered my eyes. It was his fault. Player 333 stood there watching the scene unfold. 120 then lunged at player 33, grabbing his shirt collar. "It's your fault."
"If I hadn't come in, you all would've died. It would've taken too much time to go get her." I hated how his words were true, I just kept my head down and didn't speak. 120 began crying, her new friends had just died. Finally the door unlocked and we walked out, making our way back to the center.
"Y/n, are you okay?" Dae-ho asked. I looked down at the ground as the platform began spinning. Gi-hun and Young-il looked at me then Dae-ho, he quickly told them what happened.
"Attention, the final round will begin." The platform spun some more before stopping. "Two!" was announced as the light began flashing, I stood still trying to think if there was a different way for Young-Mi to survive. I hadn't even noticed her until that moment. She and I used to play together in middle school, then in high school she had to move schools. As chaos ensued, I was grabbed by Young-il, I was dragged along to a room. Jung-Bae was there. I stood in the corner as I watched Young-il throw him out and hold the door shut.
"Young-il, what the hell?!" Jung-bae exclaimed, he then frantically ran to find another person. Another person then pushed through the door past Young-il, trying to throw me out. I punched him a bit trying to break free. Young il shoved him in the corner as I shut the door, holding it shut will all my strength.
Young-il looked up at the timer, we had 10 seconds. Young-Il then put the man in a choke hold, finally breaking his neck as the timer hit 0. I looked at him in shock. We waited in the room while the guards cleaned up the mess. I looked down at the man in the corner, his neck was snapped.
"You killed him." I said bluntly, my eyes moving to meet him.
"I had to, he was trying to throw you out." Young-il replied, his eyes glancing at the man on the floor. I nodded, still thinking about what had happened and Young-Mi.
"What's wrong?" He asked, we still waited for the doors to be unlocked.
"Young-Mi, she was my old friend. She was pushed out of the way, all I did was stand there in the room." I felt my eyes begin to burn a bit, I wiped my eyes. The door then unlocked, I quickly walked out. We were then escorted back out to the main room. We needed to get out of here, nobody is safe, soon everyone will betray one another, for the prize money.
It was time to vote again, I knew what I wanted. We had to get out of here, we are all going to die, only one can claim the prize.
"Hey Gi-hun," I hear Jung-Bae turn to my father. "I'm worried about Young-il and Y/n. During the game when we were in groups of two he-" Jung-Bae was cut off from the loud buzzing sound. It was now 49 and 50. Since Young-il was the last vote it was a tie. Young-il then walked to the podium. Jung-bae began talking again, "Young-il scares me a bit, You see when I was trying to follow him, he pushed-" Jung bae was cut off once more, the vote was 50/50. Young-il turned to us with a smile, holding up the okay sign.
We were told we'd have another vote since we tied, it would be held tomorrow. We all sighed with relief, we didn't have to play another game as long as people voted to leave the next time. I walked away towards my bunk and sat there, I noticed Young-il followed me.
"We'll get out of here. For now we have to keep our hopes up, we can do this." He put a hand on my knee, his small was warm. Gi-hun walked up the stairs towards us.
"I think the other side is planning something, they're going to attack tonight." He spoke plainly, giving a glance over, 100's eyes made contact with mine. He gave me an icky smile, I shifted uncomfortably at his gaze. Tonight was going to be a mess, I could feel it.
