Ares leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "What's this? The classic 'box of cheap chocolates and a heartfelt apology' routine? Real original." He scoffed, eyeing the box like it was a science experiment gone wrong. "You seriously think she's gonna take you back because of this?"
Blake exhaled, clearly trying to keep his cool. "Can you just get her, man?"
"Why should I?" Ares shot back, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Before the argument could escalate, Jovi appeared at the door, backpack slung over one shoulder, her hair pulled into a messy ponytail. She froze when she saw Blake standing there.
"Seriously?" she said, her tone dripping with disdain.
Blake's face lit up slightly, though her reaction made his confidence falter. "These are for you," he said, holding out the box of chocolates. "And I wanted to walk you to school... if that's okay."
Jovi stared at him for a moment, her expression unreadable, before scoffing. "Wow, chocolates. How thoughtful." She grabbed the box, turned to Ares, and held it out to him. "Here. You want these? I don't."
Ares's smirk widened as he took the box. "Don't mind if I do." He gave Blake a smug look. "Guess that plan backfired, huh?"
Jovi didn't wait for a response. She stepped around Blake, heading for the sidewalk, but he quickly followed her.
"Jovi, wait," Blake said, jogging to catch up. "I'm sorry. For everything. I messed up yesterday. I was an idiot, and I shouldn't have treated you like that."
Jovi didn't break her stride. "Yeah, you were an idiot," she muttered, not bothering to look at him.
"Please," Blake said, his tone more desperate. "Just listen to me. Iโ" He hesitated, then blurted, "I love you."
That stopped Jovi in her tracks. She turned to face him, her eyes narrowing. "What?"
Blake took a step closer, his voice softening. "I love you, Jovi. I love how you never let anyone push you around. I love how you always have some sarcastic comment, even when you're upset. I love how you care about everyone, even when you don't want to admit it." He paused, his voice catching slightly. "And I love how you make me want to be better, even when I don't deserve you."
Jovi's tough exterior cracked as her eyes began to fill with tears. She looked away, embarrassed. "Don't do that," she said, her voice trembling.
Blake reached out, gently brushing away a tear that slid down her cheek. "I mean it, Jovi. I'm sorry for making you feel like you weren't important yesterday. You're everything to me."
Jovi let out a shaky laugh, wiping at her own tears. "You're so stupid, you know that?"
Blake smiled, relief flooding his face. "I've been told once or twice."
For a moment, Jovi just stared at him, her emotions swirling in her chest. "I felt so stupid for thinking this was my fault," she admitted quietly.
"It's not your fault," Blake said firmly, stepping closer and pulling her into a hug. "None of this is your fault."
Jovi let herself sink into his arms, the weight of the last day finally lifting, if only slightly. Blake held her tightly, as if afraid to let her go.
From the porch, Ares watched the scene unfold, popping a chocolate into his mouth. "Unbelievable," he muttered to himself, shaking his head. "And they say I'm the dramatic one."
โ
๐ฑ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ the bleachers out on the school field. Kat and Ares were perched on either side of her, for once, the usual playful banter and teasing between them was absent, replaced by an unspoken seriousness that hung heavily in the air.
"So, are you gonna tell us what's going on, or do we have to guess?" Ares asked, leaning back and resting his arms on the bleacher behind them. "Because honestly, I'm thinking alien abduction at this point with how weird you've been acting."
Jovi sighed, gripping the pillow tighter. "It's not aliens, you idiot," she muttered, her voice quieter than usual.
"Then spill," Kat said gently, her eyes fixed on Jovi. "You've been off all day, and I know it's more than just Blake drama."
Jovi hesitated, the dream still vivid in her mind. She hadn't planned on telling anyone, but the weight of it was becoming too much to carry alone. Taking a deep breath, she finally began.
"I had this... dream," she started, her voice faltering. "But it didn't feel like just a dream. It felt real. Like a memory or something."
Kat and Ares exchanged a quick glance before turning back to her.
"Okay," Ares said slowly, sitting up. "What kind of dream are we talking about? Unicorns and rainbows? Or like, creepy prophetic vibes?"
"Definitely the creepy kind," Jovi replied, running a hand through her hair. "I was walking through these snowy woods, and I saw this fire surrounded by witches. There was this womanโblonde, British, kind of terrifyingโand she was bringing her daughter and another girl into the coven."
Kat frowned. "Her daughter?"
Jovi nodded. "Yeah. And then she said her daughter's name... Jennifer. That's when I realized..." She hesitated, her throat tightening. "That was my mom."
The room fell silent for a moment, Kat and Ares both staring at her in disbelief.
"Wait," Ares said, breaking the silence. "Are you saying your mom isโor wasโa witch?"
"I don't know," Jovi admitted, shaking her head. "But it felt real, Ares. Like I was actually there, watching it happen. And the way she looked at me... It was like she knew I was there."
Kat leaned forward, her brows furrowed. "What exactly do you know about your mom? About your powers?"
Jovi let out a bitter laugh. "Very little, honestly. My dad doesn't talk about her much. All I know is her name was Jennifer Harding, and she was British. She and my dad... it was just a one-night stand. She got pregnant with me, and then the day I was born, she bailed. No goodbye, no explanation. Just gone."
Ares whistled low, leaning back again. "Wow. That's cold."
Kat shot him a glare before turning back to Jovi. "But what about your powers? Have you ever asked Dean where they came from?"
Jovi shrugged, her frustration bubbling to the surface. "He doesn't know, and honestly, neither do I. I didn't even have them for most of my life. Casโhe's this angel my dad knowsโhe wiped my memory when I was a kid, probably to protect me or something. But then my powers came back a couple of years ago, and everything's just been... complicated since then."
Kat tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Okay, so your mom might've been a witch, and your powers could be connected to that. But if this dream really was a memory or some kind of vision, maybe we can figure out what it means."
"How?" Jovi asked, her voice tinged with hopelessness.
"Well," Kat said, a spark of determination in her eyes, "we start with research. There's gotta be stuff online about witch covens, right? And if we can't find anything there, maybe we ask your dad. See if he knows more than he's letting on."
"Dean doesn't keep secrets from me," Jovi said defensively, though even she wasn't sure if she believed it.
Ares snorted. "Yeah, because Winchester men are known for their transparency."
Jovi shot him a glare, but Kat stepped in before things could escalate.
"It's worth a shot," Kat said, placing a comforting hand on Jovi's arm. "Even if he doesn't have all the answers, he might know something that can help."
Jovi nodded slowly, the idea of confronting her father filling her with equal parts dread and hope. "Okay," she said quietly. "Let's start with the research and go from there."
Kat smiled encouragingly, and even Ares gave her a small nod of approval. For the first time all day, Jovi felt like maybe, just maybe, she wasn't completely alone in this.

๐ป๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ dimly lit by the glow of Blake's bedside lamp, casting warm hues on the walls. Jovi was lying beside him, their limbs tangled beneath the soft comforter. The faint hum of music played from Blake's speaker, but neither of them paid much attention to it. Her fingers trailed lazily along his jawline as his hands rested on her waist, their kisses deepening with each passing moment.
Blake pulled back slightly, his breath warm against her cheek. "Hey," he murmured, his voice soft but with an edge of excitement.
Jovi tilted her head, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "Hey, what?"
"I've been thinking about something," he said, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. "What if we got away for a bit? Just you and me."
Jovi arched an eyebrow, still grinning. "Got away? Like, ran off into the sunset together? You planning to ditch school and go full outlaw on me, Winslow?"
Blake chuckled, shaking his head. "Not exactly. I mean my parents' cabin. It's out by the lakeโquiet, private. We could go this weekend, spend some time together without, you know... everything else getting in the way."
Jovi's grin faltered for a moment as she processed his words. "Wait, you're serious?"
"Dead serious," Blake said, his gaze locking onto hers. There was a sincerity in his voice that made her heart skip a beat. "It'd just be us. No school, no cheer practice, no drama. Just... us."
Jovi studied his face, searching for any hint of a joke, but there was none. Slowly, her grin returned, this time more mischievous. "You're really pitching a romantic getaway, huh? Aren't we fancy?"
"Hey, I'm just trying to be a good boyfriend here," he teased, leaning closer. "So what do you say? You in?"
She pretended to think about it, tapping her chin with mock seriousness. "Hmm, let me see. A cozy cabin with my incredibly charming boyfriend? Yeah, I think I can make that work."
Blake grinned, his hand sliding up to cup her face as he kissed her again, this time slower and deeper. When they broke apart, he rested his forehead against hers.
"Good," he said softly. "Because I already started planning it."
Jovi laughed, lightly smacking his chest. "Oh, so you were just assuming I'd say yes?"
"Of course," he said smugly. "You can't resist me."
"Ugh, you're lucky you're cute," she muttered, pulling him back into another kiss.
As they lay there together, Jovi couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement. A weekend away with Blake sounded perfectโexactly the kind of escape she needed

๐ฑ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ the kitchen counter, nervously fidgeting with the edge of her sweatshirt as Jody poured herself a cup of coffee. She had been rehearsing this conversation in her head all day, but now that the moment was here, she felt a lump of apprehension forming in her throat.
"Hey, Jody," she started cautiously, her voice slightly higher than usual.
Jody glanced up, already sensing Jovi's tone meant she was about to ask for something. "What's up?"
"So... Blake asked me if I wanted to go with him to his parents' cabin this weekend. Just for a couple of days. I figured I'd check with you before I said yes." Jovi gave her best innocent smile, the one she used when she really wanted something.
Jody's eyebrows shot up, and she set her coffee mug down. "His parents' cabin? Just the two of you? Alone? Out in the woods?"
"Uh, yeah. Pretty much," Jovi said, her tone sheepish.
Jody crossed her arms, giving her a skeptical look. "I don't know, Jovi. I mean, I trust you, but this doesn't exactly sound like the kind of thing two teenagers should be doing without some serious supervision."
"It's not like that," Jovi said quickly, waving her hands. "I just... I really need this, Jody. It's not about Blake. It's about me needing a break. School's been insane, and I haven't been sleeping well. I just need to get out of here for a bit, clear my head."
Jody studied her carefully, her expression softening slightly. "You haven't been sleeping well? What's going on?"
Jovi hesitated, debating whether she should tell Jody about the dreams. But the older woman's concerned gaze encouraged her to open up. "I've been having these... nightmares. They're weird and intense, and they don't feel like normal dreams. They feel real. Like, too real."
Jody leaned forward slightly, her tone gentler now. "What kind of nightmares, kiddo?"
Jovi took a deep breath, trying to find the words. "I'm in these snowy woods, and there's a fire. There's this coven of witches, and the leader... she's this British woman with blonde hair. She's welcoming her daughter into the coven, and then she turns and looks right at me. Like, really looks at me, like she knows I'm there. And she calls her daughter Jennifer."
Jody's eyes widened slightly. "Jennifer," she repeated, her voice soft.
Jovi nodded. "Yeah. And here's the thing... that's my mom's name. I've never met her, but I know her name was Jennifer Harding. And the way this woman looked at meโit was like she knew me."
Jody leaned back, processing this. "And you've been having this same dream?"
Jovi nodded. "Not every night, but it's happened a few times now. And I can't stop thinking about it. I don't know if it means something or if I'm just losing my mind, but it's freaking me out, Jody."
Jody reached out, resting a comforting hand on Jovi's shoulder. "You're not losing your mind, Jovi. I get why you'd want to get away for a bit, especially if this is what you've been dealing with."
"So... can I go?" Jovi asked, her tone hopeful.
Jody sighed, clearly torn. "I still don't love the idea of you and Blake being out there alone, but I get it. You've been under a lot of pressure, and if this is what you need to recharge, then... okay. But I want you to check in with me. And if anythingโanythingโfeels off, you call me immediately. Got it?"
Jovi broke into a relieved smile. "Got it. Thanks, Jody. You're the best."
"Don't make me regret this," Jody said, her tone firm but affectionate.
"I won't," Jovi promised, already feeling a weight lift off her shoulders.
Jovi sat on the edge of her bed, phone in hand, nervously tapping her fingers against the screen as she worked up the courage to call her dad. She already knew how this conversation was going to go. Dean Winchester wasn't exactly the "cool, understanding dad" type, especially when it came to her spending a weekend alone with Blake.
Finally, she took a deep breath and hit the call button. It rang twice before Dean's gruff voice came through.
"Hey, sweetheart. Everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything's fine," Jovi said quickly, hoping to ease him into the conversation. "I just... I wanted to tell you something."
"Uh-oh. That tone doesn't sound good," Dean said, his suspicion already kicking in.
Jovi rolled her eyes, even though he couldn't see her. "It's nothing bad. Blake asked me if I wanted to go to his parents' cabin for the weekend, and I said yes. Just wanted to let you know."
There was a long pause on the other end of the line before Dean finally spoke. "You said what now?"
Jovi sighed, bracing herself. "Dad, it's not a big deal. It's just a cabin. I need a break, and Blake offered. That's all."
"Not a big deal? Jovi, you're talking about spending a weekend alone in the middle of nowhere with your boyfriend. You're sixteen," Dean said, his voice rising with every word. "How is that not a big deal?"
Jovi pinched the bridge of her nose, already regretting this conversation. "It's not like that, Dad. I'm not sneaking off to do anything stupid, okay? I just... I need this. I've been dealing with a lot."
"Dealing with what?" Dean asked, his tone softer but still laced with concern.
Jovi hesitated for a moment before deciding to tell him the truth. "I've been having these dreams. They're not normal dreams, Dad. They feel real, like memories or visions or something. And they're messing with my head."
Dean was silent for a moment. "Dreams about what?"
"Witches," Jovi admitted, her voice quieter now. "There's this coven in the woods, and their leader is this British woman. She has this daughter, and... she calls her Jennifer. That's Mom's name, right? Jennifer Harding?"
Dean exhaled sharply, the sound of his breath crackling through the phone. "Yeah, that's her name. But, Jovi, what makes you think this has anything to do with her? A dream's just a dream."
"It doesn't feel like just a dream," Jovi said, her voice breaking slightly. "And I can't stop thinking about it. It's like it's trying to tell me something, but I don't know what. That's why I need to get away for a bit. I need to clear my head."
Dean didn't respond right away, and Jovi could practically hear the wheels turning in his head.
"Kid, I get that you're dealing with a lot, but running off to a cabin with Blake isn't the answer," Dean finally said. "You don't know if this dream means something, and until we do, I don't like the idea of you being out there, unprotected."
"I'll be fine, Dad," Jovi said, trying to sound more confident than she felt. "Blake will be with me, and I'll have my phone. Plus, Jody already said I could go."
"Jody said you could go?" Dean asked, his tone incredulous.
"Yes, because she trusts me," Jovi said pointedly. "Look, I know you're worried, but I'm not a kid anymore. I can take care of myself. And I really, really need this. Can you please just trust me on this?"
Dean let out another sigh, clearly torn. "I don't like it," he said gruffly. "But if Jody's okay with it, then I'll go along with it. Just promise me you'll keep your guard up, and you'll call if anythingโanythingโfeels off."
"I promise," Jovi said, relief flooding through her.
"And don't make me regret this," Dean added, his voice stern but tinged with affection.
"You won't," Jovi assured him. "Thanks, Dad."
"Yeah, yeah," Dean muttered. "Just... be careful, okay? I mean it."
"I will. Love you," Jovi said before quickly hanging up, knowing he wasn't likely to say it back. She tossed her phone onto the bed and let out a deep breath. One hurdle down. Now all she had to do was survive the weekend.
