She was lying in the hospital bed, sleeping, making up for all the sleep she didn't get last night now she had the epidural. I was fiddling with her hair, and simply just admiring her.
The past few weeks had been rough for her, physically and emotionally. I think the fact she was really feeling her body change and adjust to prepare her for labour really put her preparation to the test.
If there was anything at all I could've done to make anything more comfortable for her I would've done it, I felt terrible that there just wasn't anything. But then she spoke, "Blake," I stopped fiddling with her hair, and moved my hand down to her bump, "Khob's."
"I've thought about it for a while, and I wanted to know if you felt comfortable with it, but instead of him taking my last name, I want him to have yours. If that's alright with you." I honestly couldn't believe it. "Oh hun, of course he can. You really want him to?" She just smiled and nodded.
The door then opened, and closed again. "Evening you two, just come to check on how you're dilating." Laura spoke, sitting down on a spinning chair and putting gloves on.
"So, are we excited? You're about 8 centimetres dilated now Khobi. It's 11:47 right now, so I'm going to say that he'll be here anytime before 4am. But hey, he could very well come after that if he pleases but the way he's sitting I don't think it should be any later."
Khobi looked up at me, she had the most adorable grin of excitement on her face, she was so ready for this. When Laura left the room, I picked up her hand. "Should we give your dad and Oscar a call? Pat too?"
"Yeah, and you can call yours to come in, too." It was like she seemed confused I didn't mention them. "Hun, you don't have to keep things fair during this sort of thing. If you don't feel comfortable with them there they don't have to come. I completely get it, you haven't know them as long as Pat and that."
She shook her head, "No I'm serious, I want them here. If my dad gets to witness his grandson being born, so do they. And he's your son too, you get a choice." Far out, she really was the most considerate person out there as well.
She held out her other hand, all fingers down but her pinky finger. "I pinky promise it's okay." She was getting serious with this, even involving the pinky promise? She's meaning business. I gave her my pinky, "we'll call my parents too, but whilst I do that I want you to get some more sleep, okay?" She just nodded in agreement.

We were all set to go. Dad and Oscar, Blakes parents, and Patty, the godfather, were all here now, too. It was roughly half past 1 in the morning, and I'd reached 10 centimetres not long ago.
They had me all set up, so soon enough I'd be pushing to meet our little boy. "You ready?" Blake whispered, kissing my forehead. I don't think I could be anymore ready. I nodded.
But soon the room was filled with doctors, and the nervous began rolling in, I don't know how it took me roughly 30 hours to realise that this was labour, meaning I was about to have an entire child.
I looked back up at Blake, and shook my head quickly, "I take it back, I'm shitting myself."
BLAKES POV //
One of the nurses had me hold one of Khobi's legs back, when I felt her tug at my shirt slightly. I turned back to her and smiled, but then realised the fear on her face. "What's up Bub?" I placed my hand on her cheek, wiping a stray tear away.
"I take it back, I'm shitting myself." God bless the poor thing. "Oh Khob's, take some deep breaths hun. Everything is going to be alright, you've got me, you've got our family and friends, the doctors, you've got all the help in the world, and you're about to do the most amazing thing a human can do. Our little boy's going to have the best life being brought up by you, too."
She smiled again as I picked up her hand, "and this is why I love you as much as I do."

The room was quiet, now only a few nurses assessing things in the dim lit room. Everyone else had gone home, because just under two hours ago, Khobi had safely delivered our gorgeous little boy. I sat on the recliner, shirt off, and our baby asleep against my chest.
A nurse the rolled her way over on a little stool on wheels, the whispered "Right you three, are you ready to finalise the name?" KhoKho looked over at me and grinned, I nodded and returned the smile. I didn't want to wake him now.
"Bear Lennon Mozer." She told her. I looked back down at him, sleeping against me, little huffs and squeaks making an appearance occasionally, "My little Bear, mummy and daddy love you so very much little man."
The nurse took me over to a table to run over the nappy changes with me, when I took the chance to ask for something whilst Khobi was out of listening distance. "So I was wondering if you were able to get me a copy to scale of his footprints? I want to get them tattooed to surprise Khobi."
She smiled and nodded, "Absolutely I can. I'll try get them to you by midday tomorrow. But you'll definitely get them in to you by tomorrow night." I nodded and thanked her, then she got back to showing me how the change is done.
Soon it was just the three of us in there again, as the nurse left once she finished the demo. I took him back over to Khobi for final cuddles before we put him down. I sat on the edge of her bed, wrapping my arm around her.
"I'm so proud of you." I said gently, kissing her forehead. She leant into my chest, yet continuing to look down at him. But seconds later she wiped a tear from her eye, and looked up at me. "Thank you so much for everything."
