A bit over a month ago, Joey moved out of the apartment because his family was packing up and moving down to Adelaide. Meaning this now meant we could start buying stuff for his old room, which was now going to be the nursery.

Which this has become something that I've been focusing on the past few days. I was sat on the lounge, scrolling through my laptop. Hence we find out the gender next week, I was trying to find alternatives for both genders, which once we knew what it was, we could just grab it straight away.

Then the door unlocked, I looked up to my right, where Blake made his way down the hallway towards me. "Hey hun, today's half way there." He leant over the back of the couch and kissed my cheek, then pulling a bouquet of daisies from behind his back and handing them to me.

"Aw! Thank you, you didn't have to." He walked into the kitchen and opened the pantry, "You deserve it, do you want something to eat?"

I smiled up at him, like he already knew, "silly question, what would you like?"

"Do we have any avocados left?" He took a look, then hesitantly shook his head, "No, sorry honey. I can go out and grab you some if you'd like."

"No that's okay, we have to get going soon anyway."

I stood in the bathroom mirror after putting my dress on, and just looked at myself. "Hey, ready to go?" Blake walked in. I just shrugged. "You look beautiful, what's wrong?" He wrapped his arms around me, gently lifting my bump. The bump was what had me staring.

"Look at it. I feel huge and gross. I swear it shouldn't be this big yet. This looks like 25 to 27 weeks or something. Not 20." He looked down at me and spun me around, "Honey, don't worry about it, it's going to be different for everybody. And their just saying look mama, I'm here."

I smiled and took his hand, placing it on the side of my stomach, applying a gentle poke to it. I looked up at him a bit my lip, waiting a few seconds. A light kick against his hand was given in response.

"What do kicks feel like to you at this stage?" I stop and thought for a moment, trying to figure out a way to describe it. "Say your scraping your insides without any nails."

He scrunched his nose laughed slightly, then rubbed it under his own control. "Come on, we better get going."

As we drove, Oscar called us. I was a bit confused, because I thought he'd be partying with the boys and that by now , having no time to call anyone, as we were running late.

"Hey Ossy." I answered. "Hey guys, when you come into the street, don't worry about trying to find a park behind cars around down the street, I told everyone to leave a park in the driveway for you so you don't have to walk as far." His voice beamed through the car speakers.

"Oh righto, thank you, we'll be there in like ten minutes. See ya." And he was right, we pulled into the driveway, but then a car honked from behind us as we parked. "What the fuck." Blake murmured, looking into the rear view mirror.

"Amanda." I mumbled. "Trust she'd be here whenever she gets the opportunity." Blake took my hand that was rested on my belly, and squeezed it, "she can walk, don't worry about her. This park was reserved for you."

We walked around to side of the house and through to the backyard, where some were standing around drinking, others jumping off our jetty into the river.

"Hey, there you are." Oscar called out, jogging up the stairs from the waters edge. "How are you? Baby doing alright?" He hugged me, then shook Blake's hand. "We're both good."

We walked up to the deck, where dad was. "Hi sweetheart." he instantly put his drink down and stood up, hugging me also. "It's great to have you home." we released as I smiled up at him, "it's good to be back."

Then someone came up the steps behind us, Amanda, the wanna be step mother. "Oh hey honey, I thought you would've got here earlier." My dad said, hugging her, finishing it off with a peck to her lips.

I sensed something was about to go down, and Blake must've too, his hands cupped my waist and held me close to him.

"I would've, but your daughter over here decided to selfishly take my park and make me walk halfway up the road." I raised my eyebrows and rolled my eyes. Then Blake pulled out a seat from the table, "sit down love, this is gonna be a long one."

"Look I'm sorry Mandy, but we told them to park there, it would've been cruel to make Khobi walk uphill considering she's pregnant and exhausted as it is, don't you think?" Oscar spoke up, standing upright after pulling another drink from the bar fridge.

I was kind of hoping she'd leave it after that, I was in no mood to be caught up in something like this, but it didn't. She had to make life difficult.

"I don't know why you guys are rewarding her for something she should be punished for, show her the consequences for her actions, acting like a slut and getting knocked up by men.
No Now the poor kids gonna have a ruined life being raised by some clueless teenagers."

I knew something nasty was about to come out of her mouth, but I didn't realise how nasty it would get. Instantly the deck went silent of chatter, only the music was heard. I held out my hand for Blake to help me back up, then just stood up and walked inside, away from everybody.

Blake followed me in, shutting the door behind him, before I broke down in his arms. I would've usually ignored things like that, but my hormones were all over the place, "Don't listen to a single thing that women just said, she's insane. We both, and everyone but her knows that none of that is true, you're going to be an amazing mum, we'll give that baby the very best life this world has to offer."

I heard dad and Oscar yelling from outside at her, then after a few minutes, it went silent again.  The back door opened, then shut behind someone. Blake released me from the hug, which then let me turn around to dad, who took me in his arms as well.

"It's alright princess, she's gone now, I've ended stuff with her and you never have to see her again. Nobody speaks to my kids that way, I'm so so sorry." I wiped a tear from my cheek.

We went back outside whilst Blake was grabbing me a glass of water. "Now are you feeling okay?" Oscar asked, worried. I just nodded, sitting down. Blake brought out the glass, placed it on the table then squatted down in front of me to eye level.

He took my hands and smiled, whispering, "don't worry about it, okay?"
