the 4 drove away and callie started to panic.
"wait, wait. whats going on?" callie asked, panicking, sitting up and dartig her eyes all around the vehicle she was in, from her daughter, to her son, to brooke.
"hey!" trevor quickly turned back at his mom.
"whats happening? where am i?" she kept panicking.
"mom, its okay." phoebe tried calming her down.
"you were kinda possessed." podcast said, surprisingly casually.
"possessed?" callie breathed heavily, still panicking.
"you turned into the gatekeeper." brooke shortly explained.
"gatekeeper? wha-"
"hold on!" trevor yelled to turn.
"oh, phoebe. phoebe, theres this basement, this secret basement-"
"mom, we know." she cut her off.
"with computers, and equipment-" callie continued anyway.
"isn't that place insane?"
"yes!" callie agreed with podcast.
"we're aware." phoebe said.
"and there were all these photos of me, like he was tracking my entire life-..." callie went on.
"how rewarding." podcast commented.
"super news. we wanna hear about it." phoebe tried to hurry up to shush her.
"yeah, but we're trying to save the world right now." trevor was kinda irritated.
"let the boy focus-"
"oh! okay. cool. I'm in. uh, how can I help?" callie said cutting off brooke.
"you can keep quiet!" brooke exclaimed at her, smiling sarcastically and immediately rolling her eyes. callie furrowed her eyebrows, slightly offended.
brooke's mouth hung open, realizing her disrespect. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to be rude, i'm just really stressed and nervous right no-"
"it's okay, i understand."
the keymaster, gary, hit the trap that podcast was controlling.
"no!" podcast yelled.
"what the hell was that?" callie looked back at the creature.
"that was your boyfriend gary." trevor replied.
"boyfriend?" callie was confused.
the creature started to chase the trap podcast was controlling to let gozer and the gatekeeper out.
"inside that trap is the gatekeeper." phoebe explained.
"gatekeeper?... like the one you were talking about!" callie pointed at brooke, putting on a proton pack.
brooke rolled her eyes. "yes, the gatekeeper."
"one second," phoebe looked at brooke "brooke?"
"yeah, just open the door." brooke answered.
phoebe opened the gunner seat and both her and brooke fired their proton packs at the keymaster.
"don't put your ass in my face!" phoebe said mocking her.
brooke scoffed "wow." she smiled, rolling her eyes as she went back in the car.
"phoebe..." callie said "you're-... you're-" she was at a loss for words.
"im a scientist."
brooke smiled proudly at phoebe and the girl proudly smiled back.
"with the help of another amazing scientist."
brooke felt so happy to hear someone other than egon call her that.
"we got her!" podcast cheered referring to the trap.
"yes!" trevor yelled.
"this was grandpa's plan." phoebe said to her mother. her mother looked shocked.
"uhh- COMING IN HOT!" trevor shouted while turning the car. everyone started to scream while trevor accidentally hit the signs.
they all manage to get back. safely. barely.
"mom, come on!" phoebe yelled.
"oh my god." trevor mumbled, looking up at the sky.
phoebe and callie were staring at the rice field.
"get back." callie said covering her child.
"mom-"
"get back."
trevor gets back inside the car to help brooke and podcast.
"what's up?" trevor said to them, panting.
"hey." podcast greeted him back.
"less talking more fixing." brooke reminded the two.
podcast scoffed. "bossy..." he mumbled.
"i said more fixing, russell." she said, making podcast slightly offended at the nickname, also making trevor snort.
gozer started to come through the field and phoebe tried walking over.
"no, no, no." callie said to phoebe as she did. but phoebe didn't listen.
brooke looked outside the window at phoebe.
"c'mon, pheebs..." brooke whispered quietly, encouraging phoebe and hoping for the best.
phoebe held out the trap that the gatekeeper was in.
"what is she doing?" trevor asked, worried.
"pull the lever!" phoebe yelled to her mom as gozer was in the middle of the field.
"hey!" lucky said busting through the door.
"YES!" brooke yelled, happily laughing.
brooke got out of the car and trevor pulled out the gunner seat. they tried turning their proton packs on but it wasn't working.
"come on! what are you waiting for!?" podcast yelled.
"i'm waiting for this thing to work! its not working!" trevor yelled back.
brooke checked trevors proton pack and... HOLY SHIT ITS THE MARSHMELLOW GUYS.
"AH!" trevor yelled when he noticed. "WHAT ARE THESE THINGS?!" he removed the proton pack.
"DONT ASK." brooke said trying to remove them.
"MOM HIT THE PEDAL!" phoebe yelled.
"pedal?" callie was confused, then looked down and saw said pedal. so she hit it.
it was all starting to work but then everything powered down.
gozer grabbed luckys stream and swung her to them.
"LUCKY!" trevor yelled.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS DOING!?" trevor yelled again.
"WE HAVE OUR OWN PROBLEMS!" podcast yelled.
callie tried taking the trap but gozer took it from her. gozer let it loose and instead of callie, it hit lucky.
"oh no..." callie said "no..." callie yelled quietly.
just as gozer was gonna hit callie...
"hey flattop." a man said.
everyone looked back and it was the legendary ghostbusters. if only egon could stand alongside them.
"have you missed us?" venkman said to gozer.
"gozer the gozerian..." stanz started to speak "...in the name of the county of summerville, state of oklahoma, the U.S. fish and wildlife service, all the members of ducks unlimited, the association for the advancement of retired Persons, I command you under the National Invasive Species Act to depart this world immediately."
"bravo." venkman said to his teamate.
gozer and her "pets" growled at the three men.
"i think she remembers us." winston said
"are you... a god?" gozer asked... guess they don't remember the dear legands.
stanz was silent.
"ray?" winston said, waiting for him to talk.
"oh, come on, ray." peter complained.
"yes." stanz spoke.
"yeah, we're all gods." winston agreed.
"yeah, I mean, we're all pretty dang special down here." venkman stepped forward. "on a personal note, i thought we had busted off for good."
"they just keep coming!" brooke yelled, referring to the marshmellow guys.
"s-sorry, sir- sirs, there are... marshmellows." she said to the men.
"you're apology is acknowledged." ray said, slowly turning his head back to gozer.
"it wasn't working for me. my friends didn't think so, i know yours didn't." venkman metaphored, slightly joking. then the gatekeeper (lucky) growled at him.
"okay, playtime's over. let's toast this muffin." winston said and they three got their proton packs.
"light 'em up." venkman ordered and they powered them on.
"man, i love that sound." winston praised the machines, proudly hearing the proton packs turn on.
"on the count of three," peter yelled. "go on "two," one, two-" and they all fired their machines.
"yeah, nothing stings like a billion electron volts!" stanz yelled at gozer.
they connected the proton packs for a stronger effect.
"yes!" callie cheered.
"do you feel that?" winston asked.
"yeah." stanz responded.
"uh-oh." venkman noticed gozer almost bring able to break out of their electric chains.
"she's uncrossing the streams!" stanz yelled and gozer threw the three back on the car.
"no!" phoebe yelled.
"are they dead!?" podcast shouted, worried.
"they're getting up! of course they're not dead!" brooke yelled, still angrily taking of the marshmellows from her proton pack. "although, to be fair, they're like, 70 now."
"i don't remember this job being so painful." stanz said.
gozer turned her head back to phoebe and callie and brooke took an opportunity to quietly get on the trunk of the car, fixing the packs again while squishing all the marshmellows.
she fixed the wires, slowly but surely.
trevor turned back to brooke to see what she was doing, staring at her as she did. she actually looked kinda hot.
"ow!" she muttered, accidentally electrocuting the side her finger, immediately putting the part that was electrocuted in her mouth.
she looked up up trevor, catching him staring at her.
he immediately looked down, his cheeks pink. brooke giggled and went back to fixing the thing.
"your time has come." gozer told phoebe and callie.
"you can take my life, but never phoebe's." callie gulped.
"that... is not your decision to make." gozer said, an evil grin forming on their face. "i see everything. i have seen your grandparents rot and i've seen their fingernails grow underneath the surface-"
"what a shit excuse." she heard brooke and immediately turned around to her, brooke immediately regretting it but she didn't show any fear.
"i suggest you stay... out of this." gozer's voice scared her.
"i hope you know what the word distractiom means."
phoebe shot her proton pack at the towers behind gozer and callie stepped on the pedal.
everyone else grabbed theirs, shooting them as well.
the streams this time were strong enough, gozer growing weaker every second.
phoebe then felt a figure, guiding her while shooting her proton pack.
the ghost of egon.
callie and brooke noticed, both of them feeling tears form in their eyes.
everyone heard loud and quiet noises from the sky, looking up and seeing ghosts and spirits being sucked into the field.
trevor looked up, immediately smiling.
"holy shit." callie mumbled.
every single ghost, spirit, deity, including gozer finally got trapped.
it went silent and they waited a moment to move again.
callie chuckled, feeling joy consume her as she realized they saved the world.
"we did it." phoebe said with a big smile on her face.
"yeah." callie agreed.
trevor dropped his proton pack, walking over to brooke who was taking her hand off her nose as she realized it finally stopped bleeding.
"hey." trevor immediately gave her a big hug.
"o-oh, hi." brooke chuckled, hugging back.
"you're nose..." he noticed.
"just a brain squeeze." she chuckled.
brooke eventually felt a small drop of water sliding down her shoulder.
"aw, is my dear trevor crying?" she teased.
"maybe." his voice was slightly muffled.
they let go of the hug but trevor's hands were still on her waist and brooke's hands were on his shoulders.
the 2 teens stared in each other's eyes for 3 seconds before brooke leaned in, giving him a kiss on his cheek.
trevor's face immediately flushed red, from it... shocked about how maybe phoebe was right... maybe she does like him too.
trevor couldn't help it and grabbed her collar, pulling her in for a kiss, both their eyes immediately closing.
they kissed for a good 7 seconds, pulling back and forth sometimes to catch their breath.
they pulled away and just giggled, touching their foreheads together in happiness.
phoebe and callie managed to get up from the floor and saw the two teenagers all over each other.
they saw brooke wrap her arms around his neck, both feeling safe as they were together after all of what just happened. they didn't want let go but brooke remembered she has to open one of the stone creatures to get lucky.
"oh shit, wait." she said letting go and cracking it open. but um, it was gary. not lucky.
"oh my god, gary!" brooke said happily anyway. "oh, uh, hey man." trevor greeted him awkwardly.
"yeah, hey." gary panted.
brooke and trevor saw lucky getting out of the other one and quickly opened it.
"oh my god, thank god you're ok." brooke said, relieved.
"didn't your nose bleed?
"eh." brooke mumbled, taking her arms and putting it around her shoulder.
"are you all right, son? you just singlehandedly defeated a manifestation of gozer." stanz walked up to podcast, covered in marshmellow.
"you gotta be on my podcast!" podcast exclaimed, pointing up at stanz.
"sure. whats it called?"
"mystical tales of the unknown universe." podcast replied
"m, t, double u (m.t.u.u)? thats you?" stanz asked the boy.
"YOU'RE MY SUBSCRIBER!?" podcast yelled surprised and happily.
as brooke, trevor, and lucky were walking, venkman soon came up to brooke.
"hey, what's your name?" he asked her.
she turned to him. "o-oh, um, brooke devon, sir." she replied, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"maybe we could teach you more about the art of ghost hunting... i know you're close with egon, right? he has mentioned you before."
oh." brooke chuckled. "he mentioned me?"
"aw, totally! you're like his actual granddaughter or just... daughter."
"that's so sweet." brooke crossed her arms with a smile on her face.
"maybe egon's gone but i'd be happy to be like a mentor to you too... i completely know egon wouldn't approve, but eh, you need somebody. maybe if you'd come with me back to the academy, i can tell you everything."
brooke chuckled. "i appreciate your offer, but i'd rather stay here with my friends... i need them and they need me."
"alright, i respect that. just call me anytime." venkman pulled out a paper from his pocket, giving it to brooke which the paper apparently had his number.
"wow, thank you." she looked up from the paper to him.
venkman giggled. "well done, kid."
"im sorry." brooke said walking over to egon, not anymore hiding the fact shes crying. shes hidden a lot for a long time.
"i thought this'd never happen. i thought we were just gonna live together for the rest of our lives. letting our town think we're weirdos."
egon gave her a look, that she could tell he was saying that they are. and will always be.
she chuckled. "i don't know how the hell i'm gonna get over this, but... i know i have to." she said. "at least i know you're listening whenever i'm talking shit about summerville, right?" she joked, making egon laugh, but of course they couldn't hear.
brooke stepped aside so trevor could see him.
"oh, thanks." trevor said as egon fixed his collar.
trevor side hugged brooke as egon walked over to phoebe, moving a strand of hair out of her face and they nodded and smiled at each other.
egon walked to his daughter, expecting an argument... but she just hugged him.
everyone watched them hug and phoebe and lucky got into the side hug with trevor and brooke.
"um..." podcast walked over to the other kids hugging. "hi."
"get in here." brooke said, smiling and rolling her eyes.
"im covered in marshmellow though."
"we don't care." phoebe slightly chuckled.
podcast went to phoebes side, feeling the marshmellow on her back and they all had their group hug.
egon started to turn into some blue stardust, and flew into the night sky. callie got on her knees, crying she wont be able to see him again, but happy she got to see him anyway... and hey, we saved the world.
