"Jahbari" I groan, waking him up. His grip on my hips was tight, but it just got tighter. "Jahhh" I groan again and he opens his eyes slightly.

"Whatchu want bae. I'm tired" he pulls me on top of him and wraps the blanket around the both of us "Can you stop holding me so damn tight" I try to break from his grasp but it doesn't work.

"Lemme do what I want. Stop moving n go to sleep" he mumbles. I break from his grasp and go to the other side of the bed.

"We gon fight for real" he gets on top of me and I push him onto the floor. "Lemme go to sleep" I throw the blankets over my head.

A couple hours later, I wake up in the midday. Jah's not here anymore, so I get up and get ready.

"Hey Tey..." I say coming out of my bathroom. "Hello Sapphire. That's weird. Is that your phone in your hand?" she folds her hands and mugs me.

"Yeah, why?" I asks and she stands up. "Cause yo bitch ass don't know how to fucking respond. Where's your boyfriend" she asks, picking out an outfit for me.

"I don't know. Last night he said he was linking with Zi" I shrug and put on the outfit she picked out for me. "Zi's at the house with Destiny. I can't find Kooda" she lays down on my bed.

"They prolly with Hammer" I shrug. "Prolly" Teyanna responds.

Jahbari Micheals
"Whaddup Hammer" I dap him up as me and Kooda walk into his office. "Aye folks. We in some trouble" he says and lifts an infant from his lap.

"What the fuck G? You got kids?" Kooda asks and he shakes his head. "Nah. This Isiah kid. Baby moms dipped cause ops came n got em" he hands the baby to me and I give him a confused look before rocking him slowly.

"Bro, Isiah knows I was there! If he rats we're all gone" I yell and Hammer laughs. "G, you needa chill. I gotta bomb ass lawyer no one's going down" he shrugs.

"The fuck is we supposed to with this baby foe?" Kooda asks. Hammer shrugs. "Ask yo shawty take care of em. I can't give him to one of my hoes. Fuck around and get addicted to drugs at a month old" Hammer laughs and my heart drops.

My flashbacks come back for a second until Kooda nudges me and I snap out of it. "Yeah. Okay I'll ask her" Kooda nods. I get in the passenger seat of my car and we drive back to my house.

"Destiny?" I call out, holding the infant. "Is that a baby?" she asks, coming down the stairs. "Yeah. You think Tey mom can take care of him? I know she into foster kids" I hand the baby to her and she wiggles her fingers in his face.

"What's his name" she asks, rocking him back and forth. "I don't know. Is Sapphire here?" I ask, sitting on the couch. "Nah. She at home with Tey. She ain't been responding to us so she went over there to harass ha" she laughs and takes the baby upstairs.

The door opens and Teyanna walks in with Sapph. "Hey" I kiss her cheek and she smiles at me. "Hi" she sits on the couch next to me.

"Hi Koods" Teyanna smiles. "Whaddup. Can your mom take care of this lil bebe" Kooda asks and Teyanna shrugs and goes outside to call her mom.

"You wanna go to my room" I ask Sapphire, who was now laying in my lap. "Yeah. I'm tired" she yawns.

"Girl you always tired" I roll my eyes and she slaps my chest. "You was buggin me at like four inna morning" she laughs and I pick her up and take her to my room.

"Go to sleep" I kiss her temple and lay down on the bed with her on top of me. "You so aggy" she rolls her eyes at me and I give her a puzzled expression.

"The fuck did I do" I laugh. "You holding me too tight Jah. Gon' fucking kill me" she moves around but I hold her tighter.

After a while, she gives up and falls asleep on me. "Aye Jah. Janice just made too much food we gon pick it up. You wanna come?" Zion says, coming into my room.

"Uhh. Yeah" I pick Sapphire up and she's shuffles around before falling sleep again on my shoulder.

"How the fuck" Teyanna asks as I walk down the stairs, holding Sapph. "She a heavy sleeper" I get into Teyanna's SUV and place her on my lap.

"Where Destiny at?" I lean up and ask. "She's with Zi. They going to his parents house" Teyanna says and tries to hand the baby to me.

"Hell nah. I already got one baby to hold" I motion to Sapph who moved lower on my chest. "Kooda hold this damn baby" Teyanna hands the baby to Kooda.

"Hm. Where are we going?" Sapphire wakes up. "We going to Tey house to drop off this baby foe" I respond and her eyebrows furrow. "What baby" she asks and Kooda hands her the infant.

"Oh. Ok. Hi precious" she coos the baby and looks at me with a confused expression. "We gotta talk soon" I give her a concerned look and her eyebrows furrow again.

"About what" she gets off of my and rocks the baby in her arms. "What's his name" she smiles at me and I shrug. "I'll name him... Nile" she kisses his forehead and I just stare at her.

"Like the river?" Diamonté turns around to ask and Teyanna slaps his head to tell him to keep his eyes on the road. "Yeah. Like the river" Sapphire nods and kisses Nile's forehead again.

"You into kids?" I ask and she nods. "Yeah. I had a lot of cousins growing up" she smiles but it quickly turns into a frown. "You good, come here" I wave her over and she shakes her head, cooing Nile.

She hands him to Teyanna and he instantly starts crying. "Here! Ugh take it" Teyanna hands the baby back to Sapph and Nile stops crying.

"So cute" she smiles and touches his face. "Can we stop at the store? He's hungry" she looks up at the group and Diamonté pulls into a Target.

"Come on" Sapphire takes my hand and the baby and we walk into the store. "I need diapers. And formula. And bottles. Oh! And a car seat" she smiles and Nile giggles.

"Whatchu laughing at. Huh Nile?" she coos him and makes a silly face. "You so cute. Let's go" I grab her hand we wander though the isles.

An hour and two hundred dollars later, we walk out the store with a cart full of baby items. There's smoke coming from Tey's car and we place all the stuff into the trunk.

"Aye Sapphire. My mom and your dad have an unexpected business partner. In New York" Teyanna says, smoking a blunt with her feet up.

"Damn! Where we supposed to take Nile?" she exasperates, wrapping the baby in a scarf onto her chest. "She said we all gon have to take care of him for a second" Kooda chimes in and Sapphire facepalms.

"Don't act like you don't love that baby more than me" I laugh and get into the driver seat while Sapph gets in the passenger.

"Are we still going to Houston?" Diamonté asks and Destiny nods. "Next week" she squeals and I laugh. "Are we going to Janice's" Sapphire asks and I shake my head.

"They finna. We going to yo house" I respond and start driving.

A couple minutes later, I park in the driveway of her townhouse. "Get the bags" she says and walks into her house.

Sapphire Westlock

"So what did you want to talk about?" I ask after Nile goes to sleep. "Shit. You should prolly sit down for this" he says and gestures to the couch.

"You're making me nervous, Jah" I say and sit down. "Isiah got caught up. The boys came n got em" he says. "Who's Isiah?" I ask. "The one who killed Amir" Jah says.

"Damn. Amir's really dead? Wait weren't you there?" I ask and stand up. "Yes, I was there. He knows who I am, Sapphire" he facepalms.

"Fuck. Jah are you going to jail?" I start to cry and he brings me into a hug. "Listen, everything's gon be aight, okay?" he says and squeeze me once.

"I told you to not get caught up" I sigh and lay on the couch. "I know. I thought I wasn't going to. I'm sorry Sapph. I'm really sorry" he buries his face into his hands and shakes his head.

"It's okay. After all Hammer's done for him, I doubt he'll snitch" I comfort him and he nods. We chill for a couple minutes, barely saying anything until Nile starts crying.

"Can't believe I gotta take care of this kid" I shake my head and pick him up. "You love him stop playin" he waves me off and I smile at Nile, stopping his wailing.

Jah checks his phone, twisting his hair around his finger. "I gotta go" he says and put his phone in his pocket. He pulls out a band of money and hands me three hundred. "The fuck" I mumble. "Go get your nails done or sum. I'a see you prolly later tonight. You wan go onna date?" he asks and I nod.

"Aight. I'a see you" he walks out the door and I cheese. "Mothafucker so cute" I smile and Nile giggles.

"Whatchu laughing at Nile" I coo at him and he giggles more. An hour later, the door opens and Destiny comes in with her hair all messed up. "Who the fuck let you in" I ask and shush her because Nile's asleep in my arms.

Des waves a key in my face and I remember that my dad gave Teyanna a key. "I'm here to take you to get ready for your date" she squeals.

"Oh shit. I forgot" I facepalm and he shrugs. "That's okay. Let's go" she nods and I gesture towards Nile.

"I can't" I rock him a little more so he doesn't wake up. "Bitch, bring him" she whisper yells and hands me his car seat that doubles as a portable stroller.

"Ugh fine" I get up and get into Teyanna's SUV. "You're bringing the baby?" she asks. "I can't leave him" I shrug and strap him to the chair next to me.

"Where is his muva foe?" Destiny facepalms. "Kooda said she dipped and left him at the trap. We all know Hammer don't know shit about anything except drugs n business" Teyanna laughs.

"Y'all know Hammer?" I ask and they turn around. "Hell yeah g. He was the only senior who would talk to us when we was fresh" Tey nods. "Oh damn. He young young" I ask. "He twenty now. Finna turn twenty one. He always provided fa us. When Jah parents left-" Teyanna starts and Destiny punches her arms and gives her a warning look.

"Oh, uh nevermind" she says nervously and starts driving. "Fuck y'all talm bout? What happened" I ask and Destiny shakes her head. "That's his story to tell you. Foh real. Just know that both his parents fucked up" she says and turns back around.

We all get our nails done and go back to the townhouse.

"Y'all tryna roll up?" Destiny asks, slumping down on the couch. "Hell no y'all ain't. Now which one of y'all finna watch this child" I say, taking Nile out of his car seat.

"Not it" they both say. "Mane fuck all y'all. This my kid as much as it is yours" I put the baby in Teyanna's arms and he wakes up and starts crying.

"He really don't fuck wit a bitch" Teyanna hands him back to me and I rock him slowly. "Nah, he just hungry. Des go make him a bottle" I shoo her towards the kitchen where his bottle was.

"Shh" I shush Nile and he stops crying. "That nigga love you and he hadn't een got a taste of the titties" Teyanna shakes her finger at me. Me and Destiny bust out laughing and Nile starts laughing too.

I fed him and he fell back asleep so I could get ready.

"Whaddup" Jah says, coming into my room. I wasn't done getting ready and I was putting on my jewelry. "Oh hey" I smile at him, sliding my shoes on. "You look fye" he says and lays down on my bed.

"Thank you" I smile at him and hand him two hundred dollar bills. He gives me a confused look. "I didn't spend it" I shrug. "Keep it" he hands it back to me.

"Where yo son at" he laughs and I shrug. "I think he sleep with Tey and Des" I say and sit next to him. Just then, I hear him crying, getting louder.

"Bitch, come get your child. He don't like me and Destiny sleep" Teyanna hands Nile and a towel to me. "He throwin up" she says and exits the room.

"He's so cute" Jah sits up and wiggles his fingers in Nile's face. He giggles and moves his head around.

He falls back asleep quickly and I place him on a pillow. "You ready?" Jah takes my hand and we leave.

"Hey so Destiny told me something" I say when we get into his car. He glances over at me quickly. "What'd she tell you" Jah asks. "That your parents are fucked up. I don't know. We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to" I shrug and look out the window.

"After my mom kicked out my stepdad, she got addicted to heroine too. She went to rehab n' everything before she met Des dad but she started again a couple months ago. Jermaine, Des dad, sent her to rehab in LA months ago n' I ain't see or talked to ha since" he says, keeping his eyes on the road.

"Does Des know?" I ask and he shakes his head. "Nah. Jermaine told me the truth and told Destiny she got a job in LA. We ain't want ha knowing allat shit cause my mom her idol" he nods and I frown.

"So, where's Jermaine? Why y'all always home alone?" I ask he glances over at me again. "He work in Athens. It's a good job. Couldn't say no" he shrugs.

"Do you, um, know your real dad?" I ask and his tenses up. "I know of him. He live in New York still. He never tried reaching out to me, so I never tried reaching out to him" he shrugs.

"Damn Jah. I'm really sorry you had to go through that. You shouldn't have had to. It's really your blood that'll do you wrong" I shake my head and he nods.

We go to the aquarium and then to dinner.

At around 9, we go back to my house. "Aye post em pictures" Jah says. ————————————————————

"Here. Take your fucking baby. Let's go Des" Teyanna says as soon as I step through the door. She hands me Nile who has an angry look on his face.

"What's wrong witchu Nile" I ask and he starts crying. I pout and rock him. He keeps crying and I hand him to Jah. "Can you hold him for a second? I think his diaper is full" I ask and he nods.

I go into the diaper bag and pull one out to change him, but he's already stopped crying.

"He like you" I smile and Nile reaches arms towards me. I smile and change his diaper before laying on the couch and falling asleep with him and Jah.

Isiah Warnar
"So his actual name is Kenzo McCoy? Is that all you can tell us?" one of the uniforms ask me and I nod, writing down everything I knew onto the piece of paper they handed to me.

"So I'm free?" I ask and they laugh to each other. "You killed four people in first degree. Let's see how that goes over in court" one of the white ones snicker and they walk out of the interrogation room I've been in for hours.

I put my head down and the detective walks in. "I'm sorry, but we aren't about to pass your plea deal with the District Attorney's office. Thank you for your cooperation. Your information will not go to waste" he walks out and I officially loose it.

"Where is my lawyer" I yell but no one answers. I sit in that room for more and more hours. Hours that I eventually stopped counting.
