yamaguchi's illness only got worse daily. since the illness remained undiagnosed, there was no telling exactly how much time he had left. 

tsukki and yams had come to an unspoken agreement. they were going to take things day by day. they weren't going to talk about time left, they were just going to cherish what they had while it lasted.

tsukishima spent almost all of his time in the hospital with yamaguchi. he will go home to sleep every so often, other than that he is by yamaguchi's side until the nurse makes him leave.

tsukki was especially excited to visit yams when he had found a new song to share. this happened to be one of those days.

he eagerly got ready that morning and got right into his car, going straight to the hospital.

he walked through the entrance past the front desk and sped up stairs and through hallways to get to yams room. this was a route he new all too well by now. but he didn't even think about it anymore. it had become his daily routine.

he finally made it to yams room. yamaguchi was already awake. he looked paler, weaker, and more fragile overall, something tsukishima probably should notice, but again, this was his new normal. he had himself programmed to believe this was normal, at least.

no words were spoken except for a "good morning" from tsukki. he crawled into bed with yams, embracing him in a hug. they stayed like that for a few minutes before tsukki rolled over to open the drawer next to the bed, containing a pair of earbuds.

he eagerly untangled the earbuds and plugged them into his phone. he gently placed one bud in yamaguchis ear and one in his own. 

yamaguchi was extremely curious as to what song tsukki was going to play. he always loved when new songs were shared.

a few seconds later tsukki pressed play to start the song.

neither of them had noticed that tears were streaming down their faces. they held each other tighter and yamaguchi squeezed tsukki's hand three times, which had become their way of saying i love you.
