y/n's pov

"y/n! hurry up or breakfast will be done!" madelyn says, aggressively shaking my shoulder. "i'm awake..." i mumble unconvincingly, sitting up. "you've got like... 50 minutes until breakfast time's over." she says, standing up from the bed as she does her makeup.

i brush my hair in the mirror, not bothering to put makeup on yet. madelyn and i walk to the elevator, going to the food buffet level. "harry and timothee said they were near the hot chocolate machine, try find them." madelyn says.

we walk around for a bit, before i see them. "they're over here," i say as we walk towards timothee and harry. they sit opposite each other, empty plates with crumbs on them on the table. "morning guys," madelyn says as i place my phone next to harry. "morning, ladies." harry says, taking a sip of his coffee. madelyn and i walk around as i grab a plate for the two of us, giving one to madelyn. we line up in the food line, waiting to get food.

i place a piece of toast with scrambled eggs on it in my mouth, moving my hair out of the way before i drink my matcha tea. someone catches my eye, and i squint my eyes slightly, seeing a familiar face. y/n walks with a plate with food in her hand, oversized nike sweatshirt and grey sweatpants on. she stops at a table with harry, madelyn and timothee, placing her plate down. she then walks closer to our table, but doesn't seem to see it as she walks to the coffee machine. she waits for her coffee to brew as she leans on the side of the marble bench. she looks around, still not seeing our table.

a boy who looks 18 walks up to her, saying something to make y/n look a little up at him. she keeps eye contact with him as he talks, y/n talking after as she remains eye contact. how has he not fainted yet? she laughs as he rubs the back of his neck, chuckling too. i fiddle with my hands as i watch them talk for a little longer. i can't help but feel a little jealous, to be honest. she gets her cup of coffee as she adds sugar to it, listening to what the guy says. she laughs again, shaking her head at what he says. he must be really funny. eventually, they both part ways as y/n walks back to her table.

we digest for another 20 minutes, and i subtly look to y/n's table a few tables away, seeing her eating. she stands up, finishing the last sip of her coffee. "hey look, your crush is there." conan says beside me, pointing towards y/n as she walks over to the plate rack. i quickly push his hand down, looking at him. "don't point!" i say, watching y/n place her plate on the rack, putting her cup on top of the other used ones. "someone's got a crush!"  madison sings, laughing along with gracie. "you guys are so immature, i don't even know anything about her other than her last name and age!" i state, rolling my eyes.

y/n's pov

"can we go to the basketball courts after?" harry asks as i wipe off crumbs on my sweatshirt. "yeah, why not. we've got 2 months of this, let's do everything." timothee says, standing up. i stand up too, stretching. "alright, let's go." madelyn says, getting up too. "look who's over there!" timothee says, and i look in the direction he's looking at. there sits olivia, madison and conan. i smile, following the rest of the group as we walk towards them.

we crowd over their table as they greet us. "morning, guys!" gracie says, smiling. we say morning back, and i look at the clean, empty table. "have you guys eaten yet?" i ask their group. "yeah, we ate a while ago. we're kinda just um, sitting here." olivia says, making me chuckle. "i see," i say as she gives me a warm smile.

i cover my mouth with my sleeve as i yawn, olivia giggling as she turns to me, away from the other conversation. "you tired?" she asks. "yeah, i woke up like half an hour ago." i say, rubbing my eyes. "almost missed breakfast," olivia says and i nod. "madelyn was shaking me awake an hour before breakfast time was over," i say, making olivia giggle softly. "we're gonna be at the basketball courts for a while after we get changed, if you guys wanted to come whenever." madelyn offers. "okay, we'll be there later." conan agrees, and we start to walk away after saying bye. "see you guys later." i say, smiling as i walk away.

we start to walk to the basketball courts, and i look out to the ocean. we're really out in the middle of the ocean, huh? "wait, what if the ball goes over the boat?" madelyn asks dumbly, making me chuckle. "there's a net that goes over and surrounds the court, dumbass!" harry insults as timothee laughs.

i pick up the ball, shooting it into the hoop as it swiftly comes back down. "nice one, y/n!" madelyn says. "okay... watch this." she says, turning around so she's backwards. i stand to the side and watch her as she prepares to throw the ball. her legs are slightly bent and apart, and she swings back a little, before letting go as it flies behind her, towards the hoop. i watch as the ball completely misses the hoop and instead hits the net, bouncing back to the court. "did i get it?!" madelyn asks hopeful. "yeah! you got it!" i lie, enthusiastically. "you're such a liar!" she laughs, picking up the ball as she holds it in one hand. she holds it above her shoulder, her other hand aiming it as she closes one eye. "don't, mads!" i yell. i hear a door shut, and madison looks there too, still in the same position. "hey guys," olivia says, waving as her friends follow behind her. we say 'hey' back, and they place their stuff in a wooden box. i watch olivia as she starts to walk towards me, looking around the court. "ouch!" i yell as the basketball hits the side of my waist, hearing madelyn laugh. olivia starts to laugh, and i pick up the ball i dropped. "no- stop! truce, y/n!" madelyn declares, covering her body now.

i throw a ball to olivia as she catches it, shaking her head. "i can't play basketball." she admits, chuckling. "it's cool, just take a shot." i say, walking to the side of the hoop as olivia walks closer to it. she bends her arm with the ball, bending her legs too. she shoots the ball out of her hand, and it hits the backboard. i quickly run to the ball before it hits the floor, catching it mid air as i turn around, shooting the ball as it hits the backboard, going into the hoop. "see, you got it." i say, grin on my face. olivia laughs as i bounce the ball back to her. "okay, try this," i trail off, walking to her. "show me how you shoot the ball." i say, and olivia goes to her shooting position, which was like a netball pass. i chuckle, going to adjust her position.

y/n's shoe goes in between my shoes, tapping the sides of them. "spread them out a little, please," she says. i do what she says, and her hand moves to my elbow. "make sure your elbow is in line with your shoulder, not outwards," she says, moving my elbow angle down.

y/n steps back as she finishes adjusting my position, crossing her arms. "okay, go for it. remember to bend your legs before you shoot, and aim for the middle of the square." she directs. i look to the hoop, eyes focused on the middle of the square on the backboard. i bend my legs, pushing the ball upwards with my right hand, releasing the ball. i watch with anticipation as it hits the middle of the backboard, going into the hoop. "you got it in!" y/n says, jogging to get the ball as she walks back to me. "here's your next nba player everyone, olivia rodrigo!" she commentates to no-one as she looks around the court. i laugh, shaking my head. "i wish, do you play basketball?" i ask. "no, but i know enough since harry used to force me to play with him on his road as we lived on the same street growing up." she says, chuckling. "seems like torture," i comment, smiling. "it was," she gives the ball back to me.

i walk up to y/n as she talks to madison, tapping her on the shoulder. she turns around, smiling as madison walks away with a smirk on her face. "um-" i stutter, groaning inside. "did you wanna get a drink or something with me? i'm kinda thirsty." i say, my heart thumping. oh god, what if she says no, then what will i do? i fiddle with my hands as i look down, waiting for y/n's answer. "yeah, of course. let me just tell everyone else first." she says, turning around as she heads to the group. seconds later, she walks back with a smile on her face. we walk out of the basketball court, wind flowing my hair as we walk inside.

"so, tell me about yourself." i strike up the conversation as we enter the empty, glass elevator. "well what do you wanna know?" she says, leaning against the railing. i think for a few seconds, asking an easy question. "favorite singer?" "probably... taylor swift." she says, my face lighting up. "seriously?! i love her!" i exclaim, making y/n chuckle. "you've got good taste." she says as we walk out of the elevator. "favorite color?" y/n asks. "purple." i reply immediately. "confident, i like it." she says, my cheeks now exceptionally hot, praying y/n doesn't look my way. "it's your turn." she says. "huh?" i ask confusingly, making y/n look at me as she walks. "it's your turn to ask a question." she says slowly so my brain can comprehend it, chuckling after. "oh- uh, right. just... give me a sec." i say quickly, trying to think of a question. "have you dated anyone?" i get the courage to ask. "yeah, a few people here and there. you?" she answers, asking the same question back to me. "same, few here and there."

i get a clean cup from the cup tray, pulling the lever down to get water. "thirsty?" i ask, offering the cup of water to y/n. she takes it, smiling. "thanks," she says, drinking it as i grab another cup. "y'know, i kinda feel like ice-cream right now." y/n comments, putting her cup on the dirty cup tray. "okay, let's go get some." i say, placing my cup on top of hers.

i stand beside y/n as she pulls the lever down, strawberry ice-cream going into the cone. "did you want any?" she asks, looking at me for a split second. "no thanks," i decline. "whatever you want, darling." she says casually. the nickname sticks to my brain, making my heart burst inside. letting go of the lever. we watch the kids swimming in the pools as y/n eats her ice-cream. "what level are your rooms?" i ask. "uh... the 10th level." "oh really? us two, what number?" "3143 and 3144," she says, dusting the crumbs off her hands as she turns to face me. "we're 3137 and 3136, pretty close." i say, making y/n smile.

we walk back inside, seeing the buffet filled with people. "how are we gonna get past?" y/n mumbles, going on her tippy toes to see any routes. "alright, we can squeeze through," she decides, turning back to look at me. i give her a reassuring smile and she turns back forward, starting to walk through the crowd, saying excuse me every so seconds. my pace slows down as it gets more crowded, and y/n turns around to me. she extends her hand back to me, and i smile, taking my hand in hers. we start to walk through the crowd again, my eyes locked on our interlocked hands. i hear the automatic doors open and i look up, walking out the door.

"wonder why it was so crowded in there, something must've happened," y/n says as i walk beside her, heat bursting through my body at our point of contact. "yeah, i guess we'll never know." i say, an awkward chuckle escaping my mouth. y/n looks down at our connected hands, letting go as my hand drops to my side. "let's head back." she says, and i respond with a nod, walking next to her as we head back to the elevator.
