A lot less exciting.
The boys had all invited her over again, for their usual recording and writing days, and seeing as today was Friday, they had a little extra friends over at the end of it.
Random people y/n had never met in her life, the house was filled with people a few years older than her and she watched everyone play the same board games as always.
Taking her slice of pizza, she slowly snuck out to Cole's backyard. Here it was quiet, here she didn't have to deal with people not even taking notice to her. Here it was just her and Tessie.
The sweetest pit ever, she licked Y/n's hand continuously before leaving to go get her toy.
Y/n could hear the laughter from the outside, as well as the back door opening and she shut her eyes, wincing internally and staring ahead.
"Hi." It was Braeden, her stomach churned, and she gulped, glancing over to smile and nod. "Are you alright? You don't want to come inside?"
Something about his two questions made her feel even worse, no she wasn't alright and when someone asked that - she always wanted to cry.
"Yeah." Clearing her throat, y/n pat her lap so Tessie could come back.
Braeden now gulped too, standing there awkwardly, and nervously. He wondered if he looked like an idiot standing there, and he hoped he didn't.
He glanced back at the door, and instead had taken a seat beside Y/n against the wall. He nervously sighed, because he wasn't even sure she wanted him here, and she had every right to tell him to go away.
"You don't have to stay out here with me." Y/n set down her plate of unfinished pizza and Braeden refused to make eye contact, just as she did.
She was always running on 4 hours of sleep, max. Braeden knew that because she heard him tell Dylan once, and sneaking small looks at her as she stared at the sky, he could tell she was tired.
A glance turned into a stare, he started to admire the small beauty marks across her face, counting them and imprinting that number into his brain.
The second y/n caught him staring at her his cheeks burned, and he wanted to look away but something about her made it hard. Everything about her made it difficult.
Her soft hair had ran down to her shoulders, seeing as she just got a hair cut. Her lips were chapped but still tinted a pretty pink, and her eyes were droopy at the moment, she looked sad, but her expression had changed as she noticed the specific way Braeden stared at her.
His mouth parted slightly, he looked as focused as ever and his eyes were softened.
Had anyone ever looked at her like that?
If anyone has, it's never provoked this feeling from her. She gulped, and her lip quivered a little, she wanted to say something but instead shut her mouth, turning back away.
"Uh, sorry." This snapped Braeden out of his trance, he cleared his throat after apologizing, and now looked away too.
"'Ts okay." Y/n softly uttered, and his stomach turned at that. Her voice was the most comforting and even when she wasn't talking to him, he loved to hear it.
She had always been so beautiful. From the day he first had seen her, she was everything but flawed.
"You're eyes are pretty, Y/n." He stammered, though the way he had said her name at the end of his sweet sentence had caused her to stop breathing for a second.
She glanced over, and watched as he kept eye contact surprisingly.
"I'm really tired right now, i th-"
"You're eyes are really pretty." Braeden repeated, and Y/n turned once again to meet his soft expression. She now studied him. His cheeks were growing red as she stared at him and his eyes were sparkling in a sort of way she'd never seen before. His hair fell just past his cheek, and it was curly in the best parts, and messy in the best parts.
But no. Y/n didn't think anything of it. He was only attractive, because she wasn't gaining feelings. She couldn't, right?
After uttering a quick thank you, Braeden nodded, and sighed softly. He looked over and would've liked to say so much, but he didn't. He wasn't going to pity her because he knew she hated that, but he wanted to try at least something.
So he stood up, his hands in his pockets and he continuously glanced to Cole's gate. "I-I know you don't want to be inside with everyone, I understand." He began, watching Y/n as she stared at the grass, and he mustered up all the courage in him before saying, "So would you like to go on a bike ride with me? It's calm at this time of day."
Y/n thought about it, she glanced up and she figured he was only asking her because he felt bad, and he was being friendly to her because she was new around.
She also figured one bike ride with him wouldn't hurt.
