you were in mason's room, laying on his chest while watching a cinderella story, mostly because you like chad michael murray. it was hard to focus on the movie when he kept placing kisses on your head and running his fingers through your hair.

about 45 minutes ago into the movie, your mom calls. mason pauses the movie so you can talk to her.

"hi mom!" you smile and sit up, confused at her random call so late at night. "i'm so sorry y/n, your dog passed away earlier because of the cancer" your eyes water and you hang up the phone, trying not to burst into tears. mason notices the tears in your eyes and puts his hand on your thigh, "you okay?"

those two words caused you to burst into tears. "what happened honey?" he wipes your tears away, tucking your hair behind your ear. "my dog died. my mom said it was her cancer but it was just so unexpected, i've had her my whole life." you sob, your breathing getting heavier.

mason frowns, "i'm so sorry, c'mere baby." he pulls you into his lap, holding you while you cry. you sob into his shoulder as he rubs your back and repeatedly kisses your head. "i got you, it's okay baby" he gently rocks you back and forth.

after about 20 minutes of you crying, you pull your head out of his neck. "mason what am i gonna do? she's the only dog i've ever had." you whimper, voice raspy and eyes burning from all the crying.

"it'll all work out okay? she's not in pain anymore" mason leans forward to kiss your cheek, wiping it and playing with the ends of your hair.

you slightly smile at mason, rubbing your eyes and wiping your nose. he scoots down to where he's in a laying down position, moving your hips so you can lay down with him.

"do you wanna finish the movie? austin ames will cheer you up. if you don't want to, we can go to sleep if you want. it's whatever you wanna do sweetheart" mason smiles at you, rubbing your back. "i wanna finish the movie" you move your head from his neck so you can watch the movie.

towards the end of the movie, you start to doze off. mason feels your body completely relax and looks over his shoulder to see you asleep, smiling softly at the sight. he turns off the tv and accidentally wakes you up in the process.

"why'd you turn it off?" you tiredly mumble, lifting your head up. "the movie ended and you fell asleep baby. go back to sleep, you're tired" he gently pushes your head back down, cradling your head and playing with your hair. "oh. thank you for being with me, i'm sorry to put this all on you like this. you're just my comfort person" you're close to falling back asleep, your words almost being incoherent.

mason's heart jumps at the compliment, his arms tightening around you. "i love you. i would do anything for you, you don't have to thank me for this baby" he kisses your head, moving his lips after a few seconds and falling asleep after you.
