my phone was getting spammed with texts as i was scrolling through tiktok. i clicked on maddys, she seemed frantic.

"are you back with your ex?? what happened with you and mason wtf" it read, making me furrow my brows. what?

i called her, almost in tears. "maddy what are you talking about? mason and i are fine" i try not to cry, my voice shaky. "someone posted a pic of you with your ex on insta, i'll send it to you." she sends me the picture as i hang up, looking at it.

sitting on my living room couch, i anxiously wait for mason to get here. more tears fall down as my dog comes over and licks my face, making me smile.

i read through the comments on the post, most of them being supportive of me. as i'm scrolling, i saw a few that were calling me a slut and saying that i was never good or pretty enough for him.

my heart drops as i read some of the meaner ones. i've always struggled with being insecure, but being with mason has helped my self esteem a lot.

i hear mason knock on the door. i wipe my tears and open the door, seeing mason with an upset look on his face. he normally hugs me and kisses me when he comes over, but not this time."c'mon" i grab mason's hand, pulling him over to the couch.

"y/n-" he starts. "just listen to me, please." i interrupt him, grabbing both of his hands and sitting infront of him on the couch.

"i don't even know how they got that picture. it's been archived from my instagram ever since we broke up, which was a long time ago. i can show you if you want. i promise you i would never do this to you, i never want to lose you." i pause, my voice breaking. "i'm the happiest when i'm with you, you've changed me for the better. i would never do anything to screw that up, and i love you." i finish, tears rolling down my cheeks.

mason sighs out of relief, his face visibly relaxing."i'm so glad that's not real, i don't know what i'd do if you really cheated on me. thank you" he squeezes my hands, pulling away to wipe my tears.

smiling, i pull him into a hug. mason quickly hugs me back, cradling my head and rubbing my back. "thank you for believing me." i mumble into his shoulder. he kisses my head in response, pulling me onto him and laying down on the couch.

"i still wanna know how they got that picture, because it's been deleted for awhile." i pull up my insta, going to the archived posts and seeing that it's been deleted since april of 2022. i look up at mason to see his eyes teary.

"what's wrong? what happened?" i sit up a little, running my fingers through his curls. "i'm just so glad that it wasn't true," he sniffles, "i couldn't imagine not being with you. it just scares me to think about."

i frown, leaning forward and kissing his cheek. "i'm always here mase. you don't have to worry about that, okay? i love you" i lay my head on his chest, hugging him. "i love you too baby." he pulls me closer to him, running his fingers through my hair.
