CHAPTER FOUR
THEIR DEPARTURE TO Storm's End was surprisingly faster then what Shiera had originally thought. Nevertheless, the road to Storms End was a whole another story. The road was full of stones making the carriage fly around. Something that was not very enjoyable. Shiera had yearned to mount a horse, yet Rhaegar forbade her to. Of course he would. Shiera did not care and did not wish to make an argument when she wanted out of King's Landing as fast as possible, so she agreed.
Shiera breathed a sigh of relief when they arrived at Storm's End. She had too many horrors for castles of kings to hold much charm for her. They reached Storm's End in the early evening and the rest of the Lady's who accompanied her had already fallen asleep in the carriage.
Something else she had dreaded. She did not need Ladies. She was sure Robert had some in Storm's End.
Storm's End was something else entirely compared to the Red Keep. Though, much smaller it felt like a sense of peace and calmness radiated from the place. Shiera smiled. Finally no more spies and disloyal persons sneaking behind her back. She could finally know peace. She knew Robert would not be that bad, he was still upset and heartbroken over Lyanna's betrayal. Yet, Shiera knew he would pass over it in some time. She could give him children and live forever in Storm's End in peace.
Finally a guard came over extended his hand to help her out of the carriage. Shiera quietly thanked him and started walking close to the Keep. It seemed like a servant noticed her as Shiera was to focused on her thoughts about the Keep.
"My Lady, may you follow me to show you your chambers" Shiera looked at the servant. For a moment she had forgotten that she was now a Lady. Lady Baratheon. The sound tasting unusual on her mouth. She had always been known as Princess or Your Grace.
Shiera gave the small girl a smile and offered her a nod. She had to make a good reputation in the Stormlands, for Rhaegar had done everything to destroy that for her. Aerys was another matter, sure everyone had always been wary of the Targaryen children, they had never been terrified or blamed them for theirs fathers actions.
The chamber was large. As large as any highborn lady would have she supposed. Some other servants had brought up her bags and chests filled with clothing and jewelry. She watched them as they begun to unpack her clothes. One thing she was happy about having Ladies.
Shiera groaned and stood up and walked out the door and into the gardens. She had always felt the need to take a walk in the gardens whenever she felt out of space. It helped her calm down.
Shiera followed a path that went through pushes of flowers. She smiled. Flowers was another thing she loved. Especially, red roses. It was beautiful, yet had the claws to hurt anyone daring to hurt them. She admired the roses greatly.
Robert watched as Shiera brushed her fingers through some red roses. He did not know what to think of her. Her brother was the cause of his unhappiness, yet he knew Lyanna was at fault as well. He was not daft, he was not about to blame a woman for her brothers faults. Better yet Lyanna's faults. Many men would praise him to have found himself a beautiful wife. They would not be wrong, Shiera was strikingly beautiful, something that caused Robert to feel nauseous whenever she walked past.
She was rather amusing, and knew how to start a conversation. Robert had met her mother; the Queen Rhaella, dowager Queen now. He had heard she always had been mindful of her duty, so Robert was confident that Shiera was mindful of hers.
"My Lord" a guard said snapped him out of his thoughts.
Robert turned his head away from the window and looked straight at the guard. "What is it?"
The guard bowed slightly. "Its the dowager Lady, my Lord. Lady Rhaelle is asking for you"
Rhaelle Baratheon had always been Robert's favorite Baratheon relative. She had always been kind and gentle with him, whereas his mother he remembered was more strict. Both his parents had died years ago trying to find a Valerian wife for Rhaegar. It seemed like his family was the cause of his own parents deaths.
Robert walked inside the door, and was immediately meet with grey indigo eyes. She was a Targaryen before she married his grandfather.
"Grandmother, you asked for me?"
The dowager Lady didn't talk. It seemed like she wanted to figure something out. And honestly, he hoped she would. He did not want to bring up anything with Targaryens. He didn't know how to.
Soon Rhaelle gave a sigh and nodded at the free chair beside the small table. Robert sat down and stared at her. She still resembled a Targaryen, as she always had white hair. Her indigo eyes slightly more grey then purple.
"How is your wife?" That question came out more as a question of need. Robert was sure his grandmother knew how he felt.
Robert sighed and rested his hands on the table. "I do not know, grandmother. And I don't want to either."
Rhaelle chuckled, "and why not? A husband should always concern himself with his wife"
Robert grunted,"How will I ever love her? Her brother was the cause of my unhappiness. He took Lyanna, my intended. It was she I made a Rebellion for, she I wanted to marry." Robert had never though he would ever speak those words out loud. But it seemed like his grandmother made him weak.
Rhaelle only gave him a pity smile in return,"My son, you have to look past that. That girl would've been your undoing. She knew nothing about being a woman and I know you love that about that girl. Her wild nature. But let me tell you, that girl would've never made a good Lady to a Keepβlet alone any Queen," she took Robert's hand in her own and stroked it. "You will see soon, Robert. I have heard a lot about my great niece, Shiera. They have told me she is beautiful and kind, with a possession of making people surrender to her. Now that, is a good Lady. Soon you will pity Rhaegar Targaryen instead of despising him. Soon my boy"
