"𝐢'𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢'𝐦 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞."
Auroras red trembling hands tightly gripped either side of the metal sink. She hesitantly glanced up at the dirty mirror in front of her. A shaken gasp leaving her chapped lips. The once innocent 14 year old girl was no longer there. She was a monster.
Her clean freckle littered face was now covered in dried tears and a splatter of crimson red blood. Blood soaked through her peach coloured hair, the two colours blending together as one. Her brown twinkling eyes were now dull and lifeless.
Warm water falls from the rusted tap as she desperately tries to wash the drying blood off of her. The crimson blood sticking to her like glue. Strangled sobs escape her mouth as she grows frustrated.
Deep rushed voices can be heard outside in the hallway. Loud knocking echoing from the front door. Auroras small body shut down, she felt like a deer in headlights. Bloody water dripping from her hands. Her heart beating rapidly.
The metal door slams into the wall as it is forced open. Three intimidating guards walk in. Tasers grasped firmly in their large hands.
The wind was knocked out of her as she was pinned into the wall roughly by one of the guards. She winced as her slender arms were roughly pulled behind her. Cold handcuffs being slapped on her wrist.
A deep voice suddenly declares, "Aurora White, you are under arrest." Dread and guilt spreads through Auroras face and body.
Three years later and I'm still trapped inside this dark and unwelcoming skybox. The grey walls were covered in lines created with a dark pencil. The lines resembling each day I was stuck here. Counting down the days until I would be floated, 14 days.
I wasn't afraid to be floated. I lost hope months ago, my life was nothing but a waste. Guilt and pain were the only things I felt for the three years I spent alone.
The metal door opens unexpectedly causing me to jump in fright. Two larger guards parade inside the skybox. One of the guards had a taser in hand while the other one was holding a large metal box. Confusion infiltrating my thoughts.
A thick wristband is taken from the box. Needles were sticking out of it. Goosebumps covered my slim arms as I rub my right wrist. The wristband looks painful.
"Prisoner Three-One-Eight, face the wall." The guard with the taser suddenly announces.
A sigh leaves my lips as I hesitantly turn around to face the grey walls once again. These cold walls will not be missed.
14 days too early. Why was I being floated early? My heart pangs at the thought of being floated. All these years I felt prepared for my punishment but now the time has come I felt afraid.
And there was nothing I could do about it.
Pain strikes my right wrist as I feel needles pierce through my fragile skin causing me to wince. The guard swiftly turns me around and harshly pulls my arm, leading me outside of the box.
As I exit the doors my eyes roam around at my surroundings. Other delinquents were being dragged out of their skybox. Many were fighting back and a small amount were following along. Curiosity hit my thoughts. What was happening?
Fear was evident through my whole body. I was snapped out of my thoughts as I was roughly seated on a black plastic seat. Red belts were being secured around my small torso tightly.
My small head turns to the right. I'm faced with a boy with goggles that loosely hung on his black shaggy hair.
"Hey before we die I'd like to introduce myself to this pretty lady. I'm Jasper." He greets while stretching his right hand out for me to shake. I hesitantly shake the larger hand.
"Dude, we aren't going to die. Have some faith please." The guy to my left suddenly speaks. I turn my head to look at him with a smile plastered on my face. "Monty." The asian smiles.
I chuckle at the two and their childishness. They must be friends. The pair made my mind shift away from the fear and worry and turned it into temporary happiness. It felt good to be around people.
As I was about to say my name a video pops up on the screen above me and a voice booms around the walls. My eyes roll at the sight of Jaha and I begin to tune his voice out, deciding the delinquents around me are more interesting.
As my eyes scan around the room I notice the fear and disgust on most of their faces, I must look the same. Some of the other delinquents were trying to mask their fear and had blank faces plastered on.
"Your dads a dick wells." A male delinquents shouted causing laughter to spread across the room, lighting the mood ever so slightly.
My eyes suddenly catch a familiar brown haired boy taking off his belt and floating into the centre of the room doing a pretty cool backflip. Various words were shouted from the delinquents in encouragement. He hasn't changed a bit. He notices me staring and quickly sends a friendly wink my way. Happiness and guilt flushes my body.
8 year old Aurora was running around the light ark hallways. Her bright peach hair swaying in a ponytail behind her. She was a curious and kind soul. Giggles erupting from her thin lips.
Aurora fell onto the cold ground as she bumped into a slightly taller figure. Her giggles stopped as she flicked her brown eyes to the person. Brown eyes looked back at her. His high pitched voice chimed in her ears, "Sorry. I didn't realise I was that strong."
Aurora giggled at the joke as he reached his hand out for her to take. He pulled the smaller girl up effortlessly. "I'm Finn, Finn Collins." He smiles. "Aurora. Aurora White."
After that, the pair were indestructible.
He lightly floats to a blonde haired girl and a dark skinned boy. "Check it out, your dad floated me after all." Yet again, delinquents begin to laugh as the brown haired boy jokes around. The dark skinned boy must've been Wells. I sort of felt pity for the boy as everyone must dislike him due to who his father is.
My brown eyes shift from the trio to two guys beginning to follow along in the brunettes footsteps by taking off their belts. The blonde next to Wells begins to shout at them to stay in their seats.
The drop ship suddenly falters and the three boys get thrown to the side of the room, harshly hitting into the walls. Screams erupt the room and I quickly grab the red belts around me. My bony knuckles turning white.
Smoke and sparks being fill the room making me quickly let go of the belts to shelter my face from inflicting damage. My chest goes up and down rapidly. A breath of relief leaving my lips as the smoke and sparks begin to quiet down.
"Maybe we will die now," Monty tries to joke to lighten the mood up. Jasper and I both snap our heads at Monty with evil glares. Monty innocently raises his hands in surrender. "Sorry."
Everything comes to a halt. Loud breathing and quiet chatter is the only thing heard. "Listen, no machine hum." Monty announces.
"Whoa, that's a first." Jasper replies causing me to slightly chuckle at the boy.
The belts began to unbuckle. I immediately take mine off as I rush to my brunette friend. My hand resting on his tense shoulder as soon as I reach him. We both sorrowfully look down at the dead boy laying on the floor.
"This isn't your fault you know, you didn't know that this would happen." I say as I give his shoulder a light squeeze. He places his larger hand on mine and looks up at me with regretful in his eyes.
He takes his time standing up, gathering what just happened. He then wraps his muscular arms around me and rests his chin on my head. I wrap my small arms around him, enjoying his warm embrace.
"I've missed you White." he mutters into my hair. "I've missed you too Collins."
They were thirteen when they last saw each other. Finns arms were wrapped around Auroras torso, his chin was on her head trying to provide comfort. Auroras eyes were staring into space as my mother was floated. Her body was shaking rapidly as hot tears streamed down her paled face.
Auroras mother was caught stealing medical supplies for Aurora after she had a painful injury. She felt like it was her fault that her mother had died.
Aurora was ripped out of Finns arms and dragged away by her father as she screamed and cried. After that she was never seen by anyone again, only her father. Isolating herself from everyone in fear that she would be seen differently.
After the small reunion we gradually let go of our warm embrace and begin to head down the metal ladder. As soon as my small feet land or the floor I see everyone huddled around anticipating for the door to be open.
Being eager to see what's outside of this drop ship I take my small figure as an advantage as I squeeze through the delinquents ending up at the front.
A man wearing a guards uniform was at the front, along with the blonde. I was confused as to why a guard was here. My brown eyes travel to his wrist, he wasn't wearing a wristband either.
My eyes flick back up to the man, his brown eyes meet mine. I take in his features. His brown hair was slicked back with gel, freckles littered around his face and his plump lips were shaped into a grin.
"Bellamy?" A girl questions as she crawls down the ladder, making her way to the front.
"My god, look how big you are." Bellamy grins before hugging the younger girl.
"What the hell are you wearing, a guards uniform?" She asks. "I borrowed it to get on the drop ship. Someone has got to keep an eye on you." He responds.
The blonde suddenly questions Bellamy, "Where's your wristband?"
"Do you mind? I haven't seen my brother in a year." The girl interrupts. My thick eyebrows furrow in confusion at the girl.
A male delinquent yells, "No one has a brother!" Another female replies, "That's Octavia Blake, the girl they found hidden in the floor."
My eyes slightly widen. I've heard about the Blake siblings from other guards that would gossip around. I had pity for the girl, having to hide away from everyone would be very lonely.
Octavia rushes to go fight back but Bellamy holds her back, "Octavia, Octavia no. Let's give them something else to remember you by."
"Yeah like what?" She questions. "Like being the first person on the ground in a hundred years."
"97 years." I mumble under my breath, causing the man to quickly snap his brown eyes to me.
He pulled the latch to open the large door. The metal door falls down instantly creating a loud crashing noise.
The fresh air instantly flows through my peach hair. The bright light warming up my skin. Sounds of insects were chirping. Shades of green were surrounding the open area.
It was nothing like I'd ever imagine. It was beautiful.
"We're back bitches!" Octavia yelled happily causing all of the delinquents to smile and cheer as they run out of the ship.
Rushing out, my feet land on the soft dirt floor. I spin around in amazement, a large smile was plastered on my face. The warm nature smell making me feel welcomed.
I was quickly hoisted into the air by muscular arms. I look down to be greeted by Finn. His smile was as bright as the glistening sun above us. "We're home White." He happily exclaims.
"I'm glad to be home with you Collins." I grin.
