wilhemina had been having a rough week, each day seemed to get worse than the one before and she'd just about had it.

you could tell she was struggling to keep her frustration internalized. and you also noticed how tense she'd been in the past few days, so you did everything in your power to help out.

despite your own troubles at work, you managed to push them away and make yourself completely available for mina.

you cooked meals, picked up a little more around the house, and even had hot baths running for her when she got home.

but you hadn't gotten a single thank you from her in the past five days.

it wasn't that you minded that much because you understood how stressed she was, but it would've been nice just to hear her acknowledge everything you'd been doing for her - even if it was a one time thing.

but you knew mina, and she wasn't the easiest person to work with. it was definitely something you loved about her, but mina's stubborn nature was one of her biggest downfalls.

so once again you arrived home before her and began setting everything up for her return.

unfortunately, the universe had other plans. things went wrong quickly. the food in the oven began to burn, causing smoke to infiltrate the air, and you couldn't silence the smoke detector.

and just as you thought things couldn't couldn't get any worse, mina walked in, right in the middle of everything.

noticing the smoke filled air, she finally snapped. the redhead slammed her cane on the ground, emitting a loud crack that filled your ears.

"i already work with two complete morons,

y/n. i didn't think i'd have to come home and be greeted with another one." she growled lowly.

"i'm sorry mina, it just- i don't know what happened, but i'm cleaning it all up, i promise!" you rushed out, desperately trying to fix everything all at once.

"do you not know how to cook a simple meal right anymore? god you're fucking pathetic." her voice was filled with rage, and she took a step towards you.

you backed away out of fear. you always knew mina could be relentless hen she was upset, but she wouldn't do anything to you. would she?

but with a slight raise of her arm, you flinched, damn near jerking away from wilhemina as you fell to the floor. you covered your head, protecting your body from the force of wilhemina's hands.

"please, i'm sorry! i'm so sorry! i promise i'll do better! just please, please, don't hit me. i can't go through that again..." you cried out, your voice breaking at the end of your automated response.

it wasn't long before mina put the pieces together.

the shaking of your body, the way you flinched heavily from her unexpected movement, and finally, the last sentence that fell from your lips.

mina didn't need to know why you never told her, that didn't matter. what did matter was getting you back to a clear state of mind.

"oh... oh no, no, no i would never do that to you, sweetheart."

your hands shakily circled around your knees as you brought them closer to your body. mina felt completely helpless because as much as she wanted to, it wasn't like she could just bend down and pick you up in her arms.

and to think, after all you had done for her this past week, this is how she ended up repaying you.

"you goddamn idiot," mina thought to herself. this was something she'd have to talk you out of in order to get you securely in her arms.

"y/n? don't forget where you are, who you're with, and why you're here. listen to my voice."

"no-"

"yes. you're here with me. i'm not going to hurt you, little one, i swear it on my life."

however, mina did want to hurt whoever had traumatized you enough to react such an extreme from a single, slight raise of her arm.

of course wilhemina wasn't going to hit you, she'd rather go through the worst pain in the world than hurt you - although the only time she'd ever tell you that would probably be be when she'd finally gotten you to calm down.

but right now she had to get you to that point. and mina knew exactly what she had to do.

she leaned her cane against the nearest object in sight and steadied herself with the edge of the countertop, slowly making her way to you.

"little one?" mina tried, but the only response she got back was a choked sob. she inhaled a sharp breath before attempting to sit next to you.

wilhemina didn't miss the way you held your breath, tensing up as she made her way next to you. it was almost like you'd thought it wasn't even safe to breathe near her.

you missed the way she bit her lip as she sat down. a sharp jolt ran up her spine, causing an immense amount of pain, and if you were in your right state of mind mina was sure you would've yelled at her for doing this.

"can i grab your hand? i'm not going to hurt you, i just want to hold you."

three minutes of silence went by before you looked up, tears streaming down your face. even with red, tired, watery eyes wilhemina still found you to be overwhelmingly beautiful.

you swallowed thickly and cautiously put your right hand in mina's left.

"i'm sorry..." you croaked.

bewilderment etched itself all over mina's face. she almost wanted to ask you to repeat what you said because she had absolutely no idea why you were the one apologizing. you had nothing to be sorry for, but it seemed only wilhemina knew that.

once more, the redhead adjusted herself in order to get both a better look and hold you.

another jolt of pain, this one much worse than the first. wilhemina had to wonder if this is what you felt like at the hands of your abuser.

she slowly brought her hand up, making one thousand percent sure you could see her hand before she placed it on the side of your face.

mina gently wiped a stray tear away with her thumb. "you have nothing to be sorry for. you were just trying to help me and i was being a royal bitch. i should've never snapped at you because of my own shitty mood." you bit your lip still unsure if you weren't really the one at fault.

"listen to my words, y/n. c'mon, sweetheart i need you to come back to me so you can fully understand what i'm saying." she pushed with a small smile on her lips.

truthfully, wilhemina had never been this gentle with anyone in her entire life. she didn't know how to be careful with people. this was new to her, but if it meant bringing you back to her then she would do anything you needed.

minutes past, and despite wilhemina's back hurting her so much she almost began crying, she stayed on the floor with you, coaxing you back to the sound of her voice. she used several methods in an attempt to ground you with your senses. touch, sound and sight were the only three she had to work with.

almost as if it was a miracle, you gradually started coming out of your flashback.

soft touches on your hands.

soft touches on your face.

soft touches on your wrist and arms.

the gentle feeling of finger tips rubbing shapes on your back.

the faint tickle of breath on your neck

quiet whispers filling the air.

the low hums next to your ear.

purple. the color purple in your line of sight.

deep, earthy brown eyes.

long, vibrant red hair.

and wilhemina, your mina, on the floor next to you, cane propped against the countertop.

the last realization sent your flying up on your feet. you looked down at your lover, who did nothing but offer a broken smile in your direction.

"wilhemina! what are you doing? we need to get you on the bed, now! what the hell were you thinking sitting on the floor next to me?" you rushed back down and picked the obviously hurting woman off the floor. you mindfully positioned your arms underneath her back, careful not to hit any spots on her back that you knew bothered her.

you carried her bridal style to the shared bed and placed her down.

"i'm going to go get your cane, i'll be right back-"

wilhemina was faster than you though, grabbing ahold of your arm, forcing you to face her. "little one?" you paused. "stay. i don't need it right now." staring in her eyes, you tried to resist the urge to not listen to her, but you couldn't help it. you gave in and nodded, finding your way to the other side of the bed. when you slipped beneath the covers, mina turned on her side knowing it was the most comfortable position for her. she protectively wrapped an arm around your waist, and you moved closer into her embrace.

you remained silent as you waited to see if she would fall asleep, but forty five minutes later and mina was still rubbing circles on your stomach. so you took your chance.

"i'm sorry i never told you. i just didn't want you to think lowly of me." you mumbled and she stopped her movements, not saying a word.

it was almost ominous how silent she was. you'd begun to think she'd fallen asleep until five words left her mouth.

"turn over and face me."

you did as you were told, all of a sudden finding yourself more grateful than ever that the lights were turned off. your eyes refused to meet mina's, instead staring at the gold necklace she wore around her neck.

"i need to see your eyes, little one." at her command, you began chewing the insides of your cheeks, anxiety quickly finding its way through your body. she caressed the side of your face, hoping to show you that it was okay, that it is safe, that you are protected.

"you don't owe me any kind of explanation. i do wish i had known though, otherwise i would've controlled myself a hell of a lot more. but i promise you i would never, ever lay my hands on you to hit you or beat you, as i'm assuming hat's what happened to you."

she stared directly in your eyes, making sure to hold solid eye contact as she spoke. your next reply took her by surprise.

"she was nice to me at first. she was a lovely girl, always helping me out, always going the extra mile for me. she really built me up, you know? i didn't really have much in the way of confidence, but she made me feel like i was the most beautiful person in the world."

wilhemina listened intently, practically absorbing every word you spoke.

"the first few months were nice. we traveled, hung out with friends, and overall had fun. but then she just changed out of nowhere. or maybe it was there the entire time and i didn't see it - i don't know. she just... she turned into a completely different person. i didn't recognize her. and i wanted to leave, i promise you i did, but i didn't know who i was anymore without her." you paused, making sure you were really okay with talking about it.

"somehow she slowly cut out everyone in my life. i used to have tons and tons of friends, and then suddenly it was like they all disappeared in one day. because of this, she would tell me that she was the only one who cared about me - that she was the only one who knew what i needed. so foolishly i believed her." mina brushed a few stray strands of hair out of your face while you spoke. "i remember the first time she hit me, i didn't know how to react. i thought it was just a one time thing. she apologized for it, even bought me a new fifteen hundred dollar computer to make up for it. that happened quite a few times before she stopped saying sorry, and instead told me that it was all my fault. whatever i did wrong, i deserved to get slapped."

you sighed, inhaling a deep breath to keep your nerves down.

"then slapping turned into punching, which eventually led to kicking and full on beatings. if she was really angry she would throw vases or glass cups at me. i had bruises and cuts everywhere, but she separated me from everyone i once knew and took away my phone so i couldn't get help. but it's not like i had anyone, she faked text messages that made it look like i was saying really awful things about my friends. they wanted nothing to do with me after that, so she had me all to myself."

"you didn't deserve any of that." wilhemina whispered, but you ignored her.

"i remember when her temper was the worst, just about everything set her off and she would take it out on me. there was this one time when i made her breakfast in bed, thinking it would be a good apology for my wrong behavior the day before; she didn't stop beating me until she heard the crack of a bone. she ended up breaking two of my ribs and dislocating my shoulder. all she did was drop me off at the hospital, threaten my life if i told anyone about it, and left. i had to walk home when they released me. i think that was just her way of punishing me, and because i was so deeply manipulated i felt like i deserved it."

there was so much more you could've told her, but time would tell. however you did end up showing her a few of your scars, to which she traced over, curious of the rigid edges of skin.

"i wish i had the right words to say, but i don't."

"not many people do, mina. it's okay." your voice trailed off. you weren't really sure if there was anything that would ever make remembering that part of your life any easier, but you carried on pretty well.

"i just want you to know that i am sorry for earlier. i promise i won't ever lose my temper like that again."

for the first time that night, you smiled. "i know, but don't let it eat away at you. if you're looking for forgiveness then i want you to know that i've already forgiven you. it was an accident. accidents happen, you know that." mina kissed you softly. it was a short kiss, but it meant enough to last you a lifetime.

wilhemina wouldn't ever admit it, but she did cry over you that night. the woman who was stubborn, guarded and (almost) cold hearted allowed herself to feel something so deeply for another person. and she didn't want to push that feeling away.

billie dean howard

billie never really got too mad. it was only on a rare occasion that she got upset. if anything she'd get annoyed, say something snappy, and walk off. but her anger had never been directed at you - not until just a few moments ago.

you were on billie's set messing around with another crew member, josh, when you accidentally knocked one of the main video cameras to the floor. the sound of a crash and a broken camera lens was enough to inform you that it was in fact, your fault.

billie immediately rushed over towards you. her jaw was clenched and her eyes held a heavy glare.

"y/n!" she barked, earning a look from everyone in the room.

your laughter stopped when she took ahold of your wrist, dragging you out of the room. you struggled to get out of her grip, fear beginning to settle in your stomach.

"billie you're hurting me-"

"shut up, y/n. you brought this on yourself." she growled. your throat immediately began to close up as she tightened her grip.

billie yanked you in her dressing room, slamming the door behind her. your wrist already began to ache and you cradled it with your other hand.

"what the hell were you thinking? messing around my workplace? are you a fucking child?" billie lit a cigarette as she rambled. you slowly began to back away from her, scared that she might hit you.

but billie was having none of it, and instead she began backing you into the wall.

her cigarette didn't help your situation, all it did was remind you of the many times your ex burned you while in a fit of rage.

"i have responsibilities, y/n! why is it so hard for you to get that through your head?" she yelled, taking another step forward.

a yelp escaped your mouth and you raised your hands above your head in order to protect yourself.

but there was no hit. no slap. no punch.

you looked up to find billie with tears in her eyes. she hovered slightly above you, no trace of anger left in her face.

still afraid, you didn't allow your body any movement. although it was already betraying you by the way your body shook under billie's gaze. she quickly put out her newly lit cigarette and brought her focus solely to you.

"why didn't you tell me?"

you lowered your gaze, instinctively folding your arms around your torso. "it's not something i like to remember." she frowned.

"can i touch your face? is that okay?"

you nodded, expecting her hand to lightly cup your cheek in her hand. but billie couldn't help herself and instead brought her arms around you, holding you as if you were the most fragile thing on the planet.

"i'm sorry. i'm so, so sorry. i should've never done that to you..."

billie began to cry while she held you. and while you were tense at first, the soft brush of her hand down your back began to relax you. she apologized profusely for her actions, which only caused you to get emotional.

your feelings were overwhelming to say the least. this was the first time in years the issue came up. you'd tried for so long to push it away - to forget about it - but you should've known that it would catch up to you one day. and today was that day.

now you were crying. tears ran down your face and onto billie's overly expensive blouse. you pulled away when you noticed, causing a look of hurt to form on your girlfriend's face.

you sniffled trying to suppress your emotions.

"sweetheart, what is it? talk to me?" god you were so vulnerable right now, you hated it.

"i wasn't ready for you to know, especially not this way," you croaked. "i don't want you to see me as weak, because i'm not! i swear i'm not, billie!" the more you began to vent, the more everything you said began to sound like you were trying to convince yourself rather than her. billie knew exactly what was going on in your mind.

she gently took your hand and kissed the top of your forehead. "c'mon pumpkin, lets go home. you don't have to talk, don't even have to be anywhere near me, but you need a break."

"but i want to be near you. just as long as that isn't a problem." you wanted to say, but words seemed to dissipate as you tried to formulate a reply.

so instead, you clung onto billie as tight as you could while she led you out of the building. it was almost child-like the way you were holding onto her, although you were in such a state of disarray you didn't care.

billie drove the way home, offering you her open hand to hold - ensuring that you had the choice, that you had control to take it. and of course you did.

yes, she did scare you and yes, it did cause you to have quite the flashback - but you knew billie dean, and she was nowhere close to the kind of person your ex was. you also knew that billie was genuinely sorry for what she'd done, and that she would spend the rest of her life trying to make it up to you.

billie spent the rest of the night by your side, per your request. you didn't mind her holding you or touching you, in fact it made you feel better because it was her touches - soft
