"maybe you should figure out what's in your head"
Lucy stepped out of the bath and wrapped her towel around her body. This was the little time she got to herself if she wasn't messing with Caroline (she was supposed to be guarding her) or going to royal meetings. Her mother was driving her insane and the stress that someone else might get attacked was starting to chew at her brain. But she didn't let anyone know that.
Her mother taught her from a young age never to show weaknesses or emotions. No crying, no real laughing, no secret sharing, and absolutely no falling in love. Lessons the lovely Queen Kallista would tell her children every day since they were little. Every time she got in a relationship, she felt the most resentment towards her mother. Because every time, Lucy would get scared and leave. Unknowingly breaking two hearts.
After getting dressed, she made her way to the library where Draco, Oliver, and Caroline were supposed to be. She found it empty and was about to walk out when she heard the lightest sneeze.
"Bless you." She said absentmindedly.
"Thank you." She heard.
Lucy stopped. "You're welcome." Then she turned around, exploring some of the aisles. "Bonnie. Lovely to see you here." The brown skinned witch was sitting crisscross applesauce on the floor with her nose in a book.
"Hey Lucy. Or Princess Lucy-"
"Lucy's fine." She smiled at the girls stumbling. "What are you reading?"
"Romeo and Juliet, vampire version. It's quite interesting. You ever wish you had something like that?"
"What, love? No I don't think so." Lucy felt like she was lying.
"There's a really handsome man in the castle, who talks to me by the water fountain everyday. And I feel like I'm in a novel every time." The girl admitted and she smiled to the floor.
"Ooh Bonnie. What is this lovely mans name?" Lucy asked, happy for her friend.
"It's not important. We both agreed we couldn't be together."
"Is he a vampire?"
"Yeah." After a moment she looked around then turned back to Lucy. "His name is Lorenzo St John. He's a count and he's the dreamiest person I've ever met."
"You know what? Who cares about species? If you want him, you get him. I'll even help you sneak out for a date tonight." Lucy told her with determination.
"You'd do that for me?"
"Yeah. Why not?"
"Oh thank you." Bonnie was about to hug her.
"That's alright." She put a hand up and instead exchanged cheek kissed with the girl.
"Wanna read this to me? I don't really pay attention if it's me doing the reading and I've been meaning to take up a hobby other than painting." Lucy asked, pointing to the book.
"Really?" Bonnie said excitedly. "Okay!" She cleared her throat. "Juliet walked the halls and wiped the blood from her lips..."
After a while, Bonnies head made its way on Lucy's shoulder and they nearly finished the book. The doors opened to reveal the three people she was waiting for.
"Lucinda Lucinda Lucinda." Draco said mockingly. "Do you have any idea how worried I was?"
"Shut it you." She hated her full name.
"Hey Bonnie." Caroline greeted and smiled kindly.
"Hey guys. Have a nice walk?" She responded.
"The best." Caroline got into a ramble as they all sat on the floor and talked.
"Lucinda, Draco." Queen Kallista's powerful voice echoed throughout the room.
"Mother we were just-"
"No need for explanation. A battle has been sparked overseas between the hybrids and werewolves." She interrupted.
"Wait- does this mean-"
"Armor up. You're going to battle."

Caroline walked in the room as Lucy tied her hard shelled corset over her waist. "You're really going to do this?"
"I have to make sure no real wars start. Why? You worried about me?" Lucy looked in the mirror as Caroline paced.
"Yes- no. Maybe whatever. Believe it or not you're my friend and if you died I-"
"Relax, sunshine. I'm coming back, safe and sound. I swear to you." Lucy took her pinky and held her cheek.
Caroline nodded and couldn't believe how worried she was over her well-being.
"And if I don't, you know Draco's always here to annoy you-"
She was cut off from almost being knocked over with a hug. Caroline laid her head on Lucy's chest and hugged her tightly. At first, Lucy was uncomfortable. She rarely ever have hugs. Ever. But after a while she latched onto the blonde, slightly snuggling her nose in her hair as her arms wrapped around Caroline's back, rubbing it softly.
The two stayed there for a while, not wanting to let go. Lucy never had trouble fighting battles before. But now, here, she found it difficult to leave. She pulled back slightly, kissing Caroline's forehead and leaving the room. The vampire sat alone on the chair and tried to catch her breath.
These feelings, these thoughts, they were all very new to her. She didn't understand it at all. Or like it. But yet, it didn't bother her. She went for a hug, thinking anything else would be too much.
But that was possibly the most intimate moment she'd ever share with a person.
