"are you out of your mind?!"
over the course of his teenage years and even in his young adulthood- sano shinichiro wasn't that lucky with women, always chickening out before he can even ask for their numbers and would always stutter in his words.
because of this, the man had to painfully accept that he would be single until he's old and wrinkly unless a woman asks him first- which he knows he'd mess up due to his characteristics.
the thought of settling down wasn't even in the picture, focusing moreso on himself and his family as well as the shop, doing things that he enjoys to fill in the loneliness that eats away in his heart.
so imagine the shock that he's in when this woman that he doesn't even know what her name is asked him to he her 'pretend' husband.
"what? you shouldn't even have a say in this conversation in the first place because i didn't question what happend to my bike."
(e/c) eyes bore at his forehead, sweat forming on his skin as he averted his attention away from the woman in front of him.
for someone who's a little bit shorter than him and wearing heels- she sure is fucking scary.
"i mean yeah- but like, isn't marriage a bit too much of a price to pay for ruining your cb250t?" he asked, scratching the back of his forehead awkwardly as he tried to find a more logical and reasonable way to fix this situation.
his mind was blank, not being able to form any words or sentences that might help him out because let's all be honest- if someone were to ask us to marry them then its only natural for us to blank out.
all this for a simple bike?
a thought suddenly appeared in his mind, sighing in faux disappointment and gathered enough courage to look the at the (h/c) haired woman in her eyes- albeit shivering at how cold they look right now.
"look, i know that bike means a lot to you but asking for a married man to be your husband? now that's where i'd have to draw the line."
shinichiro gave himself a pat on the back for coming up with such genius idea, expecting for the woman to be shocked and apologize to him.
he gets to go off scotch free and receives and apology? sign him up.
but what caught him off guard was the irritated scoff that left the woman's lips, leaning over the counter and taking his left hands into hers. this simple gesture caused his sweat glands to act up- gross, i know.
"you call yourself a married man when you can't even proudly wear your ring around?"
"i work as a mechanic- i leave them at home so that i won't lose then."
her sharp eyebrows rose themselves at him, a sneer gracing her lips that screamed out danger.
all the sirens in the raven haired man's head went off, telling him to retreat and just accept his fate because he's done for at this point.
"oh really? is that why you still have a hard time speaking to a woman like me?"
"come one boy, if you're happily married like you said you were- shouldn't you have acted differently rather than what a hormonal teenage boy would do?"
her eyes had a glint in them, gulping loudly as he tried backing away from her.
why did he have to be so awkward and mushy around women?!
shinichiro racked his brain for a comeback, cursing to himself when he was already out of options. dark eyes looked down on her amused ones, lips forming into a thin line as her patience was running out.
with a sigh living past his lips, he slumped down in defeat.
"you caught me- i'm still single and will forever be."
the woman let out a chuckle, leaning back triumphantly as she silently declared herself the winner of today's match.
if she was being honest, y/n was just joking about everything that she had said- clapping that her deductions were right and on point.
she thought that he was just an awkward mechanic who's happily married off, but it seems that she was mistaken and coincidentally scored herself a husband.
"but i won't be your husband." the smile on her lips fell just as fast as when it got there, looking at the raven haired man in shock and disbelief.
"why not? it's not like you're going to be my real husband- i mentioned the word pretend right?"
shinichiro sighed, leaning an arm on the glass surface of the counter with his other hand waving around trying to emphasize his point.
"how can i say this- do you really think i'd agree to marry a woman that i just met and know nothing about?"
"and even if it's just pretend, why the fuck would you go all your way to find one to pretend with when you can just have a genuine one- you're pretty, surely you have other men out there who would want you."
this is the first time that shinichiro uttered a full on sentence to a woman without stuttering like an idiot- mind straight to the fact that he really can't marry this woman in front of him.
a bitter chuckle left her lips, that dangerous glint in her eyes returning, making her look even more hostile than ever.
"do you think i care about marriage enough to actually go out of my way and marry a man? please don't make me laugh, your jokes are horrendously dry."
"and as for the reason why i wanted a pretence one, it's easy- we can divorce anytime that we want without ruining our names because we weren't binded by the church nor the court."
shinichiro really can't understand his women- honestly he doesn't.
he had met women that wanted to marry the love of their lives at a extravagant setting, settle down and have their own little families like what normal people would do.
but in front of him was a woman who was the exact opposite of what he's used to- and that intrigued him a bit.
with a sigh, he slumped down and took a breather through his nose, obviously stressed about the situation.
"but why me?" he asked, turning to look at her who merely shrugged, (h/c) hair cascading down her shoulders that proudly showed off the rest of her tattoo.
"you're single and awkward, if it weren't for me then you'd die single too. and like i said, payment for ruining my precious ride."
the thought of settling down really never crossed his mind up until now- thinking on the possibilities that may come in being this woman's pretend husband.
"i'm generous enough to give you until sunset to think about it." dark eyes followed her figure who started walking to the doors, gaze never leaving the proud dragon inked on her skin.
"my driver will come pick you up, so be ready with your answer- and i won't take a no."
"hey- what's your name though? i'm not marrying a woman whom i don't even know her identity."
the sound of engines revving grew louder, a slick, expensive looking sports car stopping right in front of the shop.
a man wearing a suit left the driver's seat, walking up to the doors as the (h/c) haired woman nodded at him.
she turned to glance at shinichiro once more, a smile ghosting her lips as she was escorted out of the place.
"minamoto y/n."
and with that, the man watched her get in the car- hearing it's wheels squeal as they drove away from the place with a fast speed.
silence enveloped him, the sound of the ticking of clock acted as his white noise as the raven haired man was left to his thoughts.
with a sigh leaving his lips, slender fingers took out his cigarette box and immediately lighted one- putting it up to his lips and inhaled on the bitter tobacco to calm him down.
shinichiro let out an amused chuckle, ruffling his already naturally tussled hair as he took a glance at the clock behind him.
he only has two hours left before the sun sets in tokyo- giving him ample time to rethink about his life's choices before the woman will pick him up.
"minamoto... y/n huh?"
