The light was constantly shining in my eyes, it may have been annoying but since it was Enid I didn't say anything. I never thought Enid to be a person to want to become a doctor, but lately she had been quite good. I was currently holding a cloth up to my nose to stop the blood, and a cold pack to my head.

"Have you ever had a concussion before?" Enid asked and turned off the flashlight.

"When I was like five and dad pushed me off the swing." I shrugged.

"You fell." He said.

"I can't be too sure but I think you have another one. If you experience nausea or dizzy spells then you should rest." Enid replied.

"Doing nothing is the last thing I wanna do." I complain. "Also having a 10 month old son means you get no rest."

"Well start getting some, use it as an excuse. Over-working yourself can cause more damage." She stated.

"Yes nurse Enid." I saluted. "No fighting people double the size of me."

"No fighting at all." She grinned while pointing.

"Alright, you got it boss." I said while standing up. "Look at you being all nurse-y and shit, I'm proud of you E."

"Thank you." She said smiling. "Now go."

"Come on, Rick wants to see us." My dad said.

As we were walking to Rick's tent I looked up at my dad. "Are you mad?"

"For what?" He asked.

"Fightin' Justin."

"Nah, I'm mad at him. I'd never be mad at you for sticking up for yourself." He replied. "I just don't like you getting hurt more than me."

"You the one who got sand in your eyes and used as a personal punching bag." I insisted. "Because of me."

"Nah, don't blame yourself." He replied as we ducked into Rick's tent.

"What's the punishment Uncle Rick?" I asked.

"Nothin'." Rick answered. "We're lettin' him off."

"So that asshole just gets a free pass?" Dad snapped. "Is that it?"

"It's just a few more days." Rick responded.

"He gave Lilia a concussion." He snapped again.

"He talked shit about my son!" I argued.

"I don't like it either, but we're in a rush to get all that work done." Rick explained. "He's strong. The Saviours are over half the work and we've had too many walk off already."

"Yeah, 'cause that's who they are." Dad shot back. "Some of 'em ain't ever gonna fall in line just 'cause you say so."

"These people have never had to live together or do their own work. We can't expect them to forget what's happened and fall in line." I agreed. "Dad's right."

"It hasn't been easy, I know." Rick signed deeply. "It won't be, not for a while, but it's not about forgetting. It's about moving ahead, all of us, together. We keep doing that, they'll see we're all on the same side."

"Are we, though?" Dad asked quietly. "Are we on the same side, Rick?"

"Well, you tell me." Rick said.

"Thing is, man, I've be tryin' to." Dad replied. "But you don't seem to wanna hear it."

He walked off, leaving me with Rick who was calling after him. "Daryl!"

"I'll get him." I said and tried to walk off.

Rick caught my hand as I made my wayto leave. "Hey, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." I gestured to my face. "It's fine."

"You get why I'm doin' this, right?" He asked. "Out of all people, you should." I nodded hesitantly, he tilted his head. "Carl wanted this, you know that."

"I know... it's just hard, without him." I looked down, everytine I spoke about Carl I couldn't help but go quiet about the matter, it was either that or crying my eyes out.

"You can always talk to me about it." He offered. "Let your dad cool off a bit."

"It's just..." I turned to face him again properly. "I see him...all the time" I said quietly. "I see him in CJ and it's just hard. And when that guy spoke about CJ like that, I hated that. Because if someone talks about CJ like that, then they're saying the same thing about Carl."

"So I get why you're doin' this." I finished and he nodded.

"I'm glad you understand, I don't know about your dad though. I don't think he likes it." He mentioned.

"I understand, but it doesn't mean I'm happy about you letting this guy off." I said, and took my hand away and walked out the tent. Rick called out, "Lilia!" I ignored him.

I ran from the tent, seeing my dad, I walked over to him and called him, "Dad!"

"What?" His tensed posture softened when he heard it was me

"Just wanted to know if you're okay." I replied. "I know these guys piss you off."

"These assholes don't help." He replied. "Especially Justin."

"Eh, we can just put his hand in warm water when he's asleep so he can piss himself." I shrugged and I managed to hear a small chuckle from him.

"Aaron is taking a crew out to collect more timber and wood. We could go, hopefully avoid Justin and cool off." I suggested and he nodded. "Sure."

I got my bow, that I hadn't used in a while. I almost left it in Alexandria when I was packing my stuff, but Judith thankfully pointing it out. She's been begging me for a while to teach her how to use it, but I promised to teach her when she got a bit older because she was a bit short. I said the same to CJ but I don't think he understood be, he just babbled and kept saying 'Duck!'.

I was standing as I watched the men work, I was put on watch for walkers. Mostly because I could shoot them from even further distances now thanks to my dad, and because last time I nearly sawed off my hand. Also because I physically couldn't lift up as much as they could, I'd only slow them down.

When the horses started to get startled, I put an arrow in my bow, drawing it in the process. I would've used my sword but I wasn't as good as using it as Michonne was yet, and wouldn't want to use it in a real situation like this until I was better. I saw the walkers limp into the scene and I ran forwards.

"Walkers!"

I shot the first walker coming towards us, the horses got more skittish, alerting other people who didn't hear me.

Everyone tossed their saws aside and picked up their weapons or anything sharp to use as a weapon for the first small group of walkers. As my dad dealt with them close up I shot then from afar, shooting one that was about to come up behind him, he turned and nodded at me before getting back to it.

"A herd's comin'!" Dad shouted. "Bug out!"

A large yell and groan was heard from behind, I spun around to see Aaron pinned down by one of the large tree trunks. "Aaron!"

"You got this covered?" Dad asked before I shot two walkers in the head with one arrow. "Yep." He answered his own question before going to help Aaron.

"Get them outta here!" I shouted, pointing to the horses and mules that getting frightened.

I continued to let my instincts take over. As a walker approached, I stretched the string back, impaling the walkers through the eye socket and stabbing them with the end of an arrow or my bow if they got too close.

I was starting to run out of arrows, I picked a few up from the dead ones but more just kept coming. I finally started to back up after killing another two, but another wave of the dead came.

"Son of a dick!" I yelled out frustratedly. "There's too many!" I shouted as another wave flooded through the woods.

I wish I brought a rifle, but they were stored in our weapons shelter. I didn't think I'd need it, apart from my small handgun I had on me but it wouldn't have enough rounds in it. I shot the walkers while approaching Aaron and my dad, seeing him pull Aaron up to his feet.

"Lilia!" Dad yelled. "We gotta go!"

I stabbed a walker with an arrow before putting it away, collecting as many nearby ones I could without getting grabbed and then running towards everyone else. "Don't gotta tell me twice."

"Cover us!" Dad shouted.

The walkers started to draw closer, I decided to take my knives out. Stabbing and shoving the sharp tip through the eyes that dared to come closer. We eventually saw our friends emerge from the trees to help, Rick at the helm of the operation. His eyes widened when he saw the state Aaron was in..

"Get him back to camp." He demanded. "Lilia, go with them."

"Okay." I nodded. "Don't die Uncle Rick."

"Never." He replied. "Go!"

Luckily the camp wasn't too far away, so I caught up with the others quickly. I ran into camp looking for Enid or Siddiq.

"Enid! Siddiq!" I yelled but nobody answered. "Somebody find them for fuck sake!"

"I'm here!" Enid rushed towards us. "What's happened?"

"It's Aaron." Dad said and stumbled inside the tent.

"Oh god, get him inside." Enid gasped.

"Where's Siddiq?" Dad asked as he looked around the medical tent.

"He's gone." Enid replied. "It's just me."

"It's just you then." Dad said.

He removed the soaked shirt around Aaron's arm, which was drenched in blood already and revealed the injury beneath it. Aaron's arm was a bloody mess, the skin had been torn all the way down the the bone. There's was no chance of saving it.

Enid's eyes widened. "I have to amputate."

"What?" Aaron and I asked in unison, his voice had more terror in it.

"There ain't no other way?" Dad asked.

"The only way to stop the bleeding is to amputate and cauterise the wound." Enid replied.

"What?" Aaron asked in more shock, I bent down next to him.

"You'll be okay." I told him.

"Here." Enid said, handing us a rope to tie around Aaron's arm.

"Wait, wait!" Aaron freaked.

"You got something for the pain?" Dad asked.

"It wouldn't kick in fast enough." Enid replied. "We have to do this now."

Aaron groaned. "Sorry man." My dad said.

"I need you to hold him down for me." Enid ordered.

I bent near Aaron, he grabbed my hand and squeezed it for reassurance. I squeezed it back.

"Need me to knock you out?" I asked and raised my fist.

"That would be a blessing." Aaron said.

Enid lowered the knife to Aaron's arm, and began to saw below the elbow. His screams made me feel nauseous, I couldn't bare to look so I squeezed my eyes closed as he squeezed my hand. Swallowing the bile that threatened to rise up my throat.

"You're gonna be okay." I whispered. "You're not allowed to die on us, if you do then I'm gonna bring you back just to kill you myself."

Aaron reluctantly passed out from the pain when his screaming stopped and grip relaxed.

"I have to cauterise the wound." Enid said. "He'll be okay."

My dad got to his feet and walked out. "Where you goin'?"

"Go, I've got this." Enid said and looked at me.

"You did awesome." I said before walking out to follow my dad who walked inside Rick's tent.

"Who was supposed to turn that herd?" My dad asked.

I saw Justin in there too, standing sheepishly behind Carol, I pointed at him. "This was your doin'?"

"Hey, the walkie wasn't charged." Justin defended weakly.

"Bullshit." Dad snapped. "It's a solar walkie. You didn't think to check it?"

"It's not my fault the radio is shit." Justin shot back.

"The only thing that is shit around here will be your face in a second." I snapped, ready to punch him again but Carol glared at me, basically telling me 'Don't even think about it.'

Instead, my dad punched him so hard that Justin fell out the tent, stumbling onto the dirty ground beneath him. I followed them out, watching him shove Justin into a three before he whacked him in the face with a cooking pot.

A crowd started to form, Carol came marching outside too. "We'll deal with him." She said standing behind us. "But not like this?"

"Deal with him like you did last time? Sure." I scoff.

"There's only one way to deal with these asshole." Dad said.

"A man nearly lost his arm and his life 'cause of you. You're lucky if you ain't gonna be next." I snapped at Justin who chuckled and looked at Carol.

"You need to keep your bitches on their leads." He glared.

I grit my teeth firmly and clenched my fists, I turned to him with a cold stare and punched him as hard as I could. He slumped to the ground again and I stood near him.

"That was for punching me, calling me a slut, a bitch, beating up my dad, and for what happened to Aaron, dick head." I glared. "You're so lucky you're not 6 feet under right now with an arrow in your heart." I kicked him in the gut one last time.

"That was for my son."
