One Month Later

𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞

Today is a pretty big day for Gabi and Nico. Not long after Jack and I got back together, Nico asked us to help him propose to Gabi and we couldn't say no. Not only did Nico ask us for help, but he also asked Jesper, Nicole, Luke, and Emilie. We were all overjoyed to help him since they are our closest friends and we admire their love. 

Nico planned to have all of us girls go out for a nice breakfast while he and the guys worked on a little setup on a nice secluded beach for a sunset proposal. All the girls and I agreed to wear nice sundresses to ensure Gabi didn't suspect that anything out of the usual was happening. As far as I know, Gabi thinks we're just having a girl's day that involves a lot of shopping before meeting up with the guys later for dinner.

Sitting at a nice cafe, the girls and I were enjoying our breakfasts and catching up on our summers so far. Gabi started telling us about her plans with Nico to visit his family in a few weeks to spend about a month with them before the pre-season kicks off. Nicole then follows up by telling us that she and Jesper are heading to Sweden to visit his family tomorrow. Emilie and I tell the girls that we just simply plan to fly back to Michigan with Luke and Jack to spend the rest of the summer there. 

The rest of the day we spend going around to a few cute shops waiting for Nico or any one of the guys to give us our cue to take Gabi to the beach. Throughout our day out, Jack makes sure to send me updates on how everything is going with the setup and so far everything is on track for us to take Gabi soon.

Finally, Jack sends me a text an hour later telling me that everything is ready to go. While Gabi is looking at a few necklaces in the shop we're currently in, I pull Nicole and Emilie aside to tell them it's gone time. "Hey Gabi, we should probably start heading out to meet the guys at the restaurant soon." Gabi nods her head and we all head out to the car to drive towards the beach. 

As we get closer to the beach I can't help, but feel nervous about the proposal. From what Nico's briefed us on, he put a lot together to make sure this proposal is perfect. Essentially the way this would work is that we would all get out of the car and the guys would meet up with us. Seeing as to get to the secluded beach there are a few stairs to get there, we would all stay back as Gabi and Nico walk alone to a little candlelight setup Nico put together. A photographer would be hiding to capture Gabi's genuine reaction to everything and Nico's proposal.

Once we make it to the beach, the girls and I all hop out of the car finding the boys already waiting for us. I walk over to Jack and hug him before pecking his lips. "Babe I'm nervous and it's not even my proposal," I whisper to Jack giggling and he squeezes my hand laughing himself. "Don't worry there's no way Gabi is saying no when she sees that ring and everything Nico put together." We walk over to everyone else before we all walk towards the stairs, but we stick to our plan stopping right before walking the stairs. Gabi and Nico move ahead and they both share small talk causing Gabi to miss that we've stopped following them down. 

Watching them, I see Gabi pausing midway down the stairs seeing the candles that lead to a beautiful sign that reads 'Will you marry me?' Gabi's hand flys to cover her mouth turning to look at Nico with tears in her eyes. Now that they've made it to the bottom of the stairs, we all lowly walk down to get a closer look at the proposal. 

Once they make it toward the sign, they both stand looking at each other and by this point, Gabi is trying to wipe her tears without messing up her makeup. Nico pulls out a velvet box from his pocket, before getting down on one knee. "Gabrielle Briar since the day I met you I knew you were special. Meeting you and spending these last few years with you have been the best experience of my life. There's no one on this planet I'd rather spend the rest of my life with than with you. Will you make me the happiest man alive by marrying me?" At this point, Gabi is letting the waterworks flow with Nico not too far behind. We all watch her nodding her head with Nico putting the ring on her finger.

Nico gets up hugging and twirling Gabi around before putting her back down and kissing her. Now we've finished making it down the stairs and cheer for them. They're both smiling from ear to ear walking over to us. "Oh my God congratulations to you guys. You both deserve all of the happiness on this planet." The girls and I hug Gabi while all the guys congratulate Nico. 

We all spend some time talking, expressing our excitement for them. As I stand listening to Nico and Gabi talking, Jack walks up behind me, hugging me from behind. "You know one day that'll be us." He whispers in my ear, causing me to feel butterflies in my stomach and heat rising up my cheeks. My brain is quick to imagine Jack and I being in Nico and Gabi's place with him proposing to me. "You think so?" I whisper back once I calm down. "Mh." He smiles kissing my cheek.
