"sorry?"
dongkyung had to ask her doctor to repeat what he said again, as she was probably wasn't in her right mind.
did i hear him right?
dr. jung eyes were wide. he also couldn't believe what he was seeing right now. he rubbed his eyes, taking his glasses off to see the image clearly.
"am i imagining things?" he asked to himself as he put the glasses back on. but his experience as a doctor said that he was seeing it right.
the glioblastoma in dongkyung's head was getting smaller, as if it's going to disappear soon.
he had been a doctor for years, but he had never seen something like this. this was his first time. and for some reason, he was so happy. not gonna lie, he was worried when dongkyung refused to receive the surgery and treatment. he had been working with her as a writer for quite a long time now, and he admitted that dongkyung has a big heart. thinking about losing someone like her broke his heart.
dongkyung still couldn't believe what she just heard. is this real? or is she dreaming right now?
dr. jung took a seat back in front of her. "it looks like the glioblastoma is slowly disappearing! i also couldn't believe this so i'll confirm it with some of the experience doctors first. but let's not lose hope!" he reassured her.
dongkyung nodded slowly, still processing everything. dr. jung smiled looking at her. this situation felt unreal, he understood that. though he heard about the same cases like dongkyung but from other countries. he never thought one of his patients would experience the same.
"probably the heaven is helping you. they must think it's a big lose to lose someone like you from this world" he said.
dongkyung looked at him, a smile finally appeared on her face. of course she was happy. who wouldn't be happy when they got the news that they won't be dying anymore?
they talked about few things more and dongkyung left the doctor's room. her aunt, uncle and sunkyung were waiting outside. they approached her as she walked out.
"what did the doctor say?" her aunt asked, worried clearly written on her face. dongkyung smiled.
she told them what the doctor said. "but he will confirm it with the other doctors first so let's not put a high hope" she ended her sentence as she looked at how their faces lit up.
her aunt's eyes became teary. she kept thanking everything and she hugged dongkyung tightly. sunkyung also hugged her and her uncle gave her a soft pats on the head. this felt like dreams to all of them.
silently, under her breathe, she also thanked everything that decided to keep her alive.
but then a sudden thought rushed into her mind, making her eyes wide opened.
something felt off about this.
she let go of the hug and looked at her aunt. "imo, i need to make a phone call for a while" she said.
her aunt nodded, mind assuming that she wanted to call him. and of course, she was right.
dongkyung left them and went outside to a quiet place. she took out her phone and searched for his contact number before dialing it.
she waited for him to pick it up, but it ended up going to the voice mail. she tried again one more time, but the result was still the same.
not giving up, she tried once again, and she started to get anxious as he still didn't pick it up even after the fifth call.
"gosh, why he didn't pick it up? is he upset with me?" she wondered.
tak dongkyung, you fool. of course he's upset. you hurt him.
she closed her eyes, cursing herself in her mind for being a fool.
though, she really hoped that would be the reason. her mind started to overthink and she hated that so much.
she sighed. "maybe he needs some time" she thought. to be exact, she was just trying to be positive. she didn't want to feel uneasy just because of her overthinking.
she nodded to herself. "fine, i'll give him some more time. he will probably call me back later. if he doesn't, i will go to his house" she whispered under her breathe.
she then put back her phone inside her handbag and went to her uncle's car.
