that night nora fell asleep at eleven thirty. she was planning on going to sleep straight after she left miles' room, but their conversation just lingered in her head, causing her not to be able to fall asleep.

when she woke up it was early. or maybe it was late. either way the sun was still down. it looked like it would rise soon, though.

nora rolled over on her bed to look at her alarm clock. the clock read '5:39am'. this was upsetting news, only because nora wanted to sleep longer, but she was no longer tired.

after staring at the wall for a few minutes (now it was 5:43am) nora decided it would be no good to lay in bed bored any longer.

waddling out of her room, the floor creaked below her feet every time she took a step. she was tempted to go into miles' room, but she was too scared of what might happen since he has random little mood swishes, and it was so early.

when she made it out of the hallway their rooms were present in, she realized she had completely forgotten where and which floor floras room was, and her moms.

you've gotta be shitting me nora thought aloud.

"bad dreams?" nora jumped and turned around. miles was in the middle of the hall, looking more wide awake than ever.

"um.. nope. just woke up and couldn't fall back asleep." nora replied shyly. miles started walking closer to her, his hands in the pockets of his pants (on the side).

"then why were you cursing at yourself?" he asked her. this time when nora looked into his eyes, she still saw a lot of lust, but now there was a hint of determination.

"i forgot where my moms room was." nora crosses her arms over her chest.

"doesn't matter," miles declared. he cocked his head in the direction behind him (where their rooms were). miles turned around and started walking back to his room. nora didn't budge, she was confused. only slightly though. it was mainly her thoughts pacing around in her head that made her stay where she was. miles turned around.

"are you coming?" he asked, another bored expression on his face.

"y-yeah. to your room?" nora asked. this was a dumb question, she knew the answer.

"yes." he shook his head and smiled, turning back around. whenever nora added the to your room part she prepared miles to say something like "no shit dumbass" but thankfully he didn't.

nora followed miles into his room. it hadn't changed even a little bit from last night, besides his blankets on his mattress.

"why don't you have a bed frame?" asked nora.

"broke it a while ago. shut my door." nora turned around and obeyed, shutting the door.

"how can you break a whole bed? the fuck were you doing?" she yawned on the end of her sentence.

"jesus christ," miles chuckled "you ask a lot of questions"

"i wanna know! what's wrong with that?" nora asked him, cracking a smile.

"never said there was anything wrong with it. i was just saying." miles started walking to his bathroom. nora slowly walked around, observing his room once more. nora heard water sprinkling. she faced the bathroom. miles was peeing.

"ew dude, why the fuck? shut the door!"

"i never shut my door, grow up. just don't fucking look it's not that hard." there wasn't a joking tone in his voice which was even more intimidating. the tone told nora he was being deadass, as usual.

"unless you want to" he added.

"okay miles you could've just stopped right there. chill out." the toilet flushed. nora sat on the floor in front of his mattress.

"are you homeschooled too?" nora asked him when he got done washing his hands. he sat down on his mattress.

"i didn't use to be until i got kicked out"

"why-"

"shut. up. i knew you were gonna ask why?"

"what the fuck is your problem?" nora snapped. miles raised his eyebrows and smiled, looking down shortly after.

"i don't have a problem." miles said, still smiling.

"yeah you do! we'll be having a conversation one second and the next you're yelling at me for.. i don't know.. talking? asking questions? why? do you just hate me or something?"

"i don't hate you. how could i even hate you, this is basically you're first day here. it's called having a personality." miles retorted. nora sighed and brought her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them.

"then you have a really bitchy personality..." said nora just above a whisper.

"i know." he looked back up at her. noras heart began picking up it's pace once again.

"well i need to play my drums." miles got up and walked over to his drum set.

"you don't necessarily needβ€” you know what? never mind."

at dinner, everyone was at the table. even miles. nora was kind of upset, she was expecting him to not eat with them because of last time, and she wanted to ask about him to mrs grose.

the dinner table was quiet. nobody was making conversation. not even spunky little flora. she was particularly quiet tonight.

flora and miles finished at the same time. he invited her to go to the koi pond with him. so they left.

"mrs grose?" nora asked speaking up. kate watched her daughter speak to the house keeper. "how is miles?"

"ehem... what do you mean?"

"like, how does he normally act?"

"miles is a very handsome charmer, as i'm sure you've noticed," nora cleared her throat at that part of the sentence "he's very well behaved and never fights with flora. miles is a good kid, nora. very good even. excellent."

"so he doesn't have moods?" nora blurted. mrs grose looked disturbed by noras question.

"like he doesn't act up at all? or... act rude? anything of the sort?"

"no dear, not at all." mrs grose looked over at kate, who was looking at nora. "why do you ask?"

"i was just wondering-"

"has he done anything to you?" kate asked.

"no, no, not bad bad. he just can be mean sometimes. it's not a big deal."

"nonsense!" mrs grose piped up, her mouth full of food. kate and nora looked over at her.

"miles is nothing like mean. give him time nora. i'm sure he's not being mean on purpose." nora thought about what mrs grose said

maybe. probably not. but maybe...

"yeah, i guess you're right..." nora said, defeated and unwilling to argue with mrs grose.

"i know i'm right, dear. miles is wonderful. maybe you're the one who's being mean."

"mrs grose, dont say that about my daughter. let's just drop this, okay?" kate murmured, obviously annoyed. they didn't say anything for the rest of dinner.
