Cherry awakes with a startle, finding it difficult to breathe. She takes in a few deep breaths before her heart begins to slow. Once it does, she lets out a tired sigh, exhaustion hitting her. She stares up at the roof of the tent, listening to the sound of nature outside. It does little to calm her nerves,  the dream still embedded into her memory. Some of it is blurry, but him asking for a kiss she remembers.

They didn't kiss, right?

She doesn't remember.

She would have remembered...

right?

A tired groan leaves her lips as she sits up. She rubs her eyes roughly, hoping the image will leave her mind quickly. But then she spots Sean's sleeping form, and the thoughts come almost as quickly as the blush does. Her eyes give him a once-over before she looks away forcefully, feeling guilty for looking at him that way.

Her brain has felt like mush since that vendor back at Beaver Creek thought they were dating. They don't look like they're dating. They look like friends. Just friends...

right?

Another groan leaves her as she lays back down. She covers her face with her hands, wanting her heart to stop beating so face. She can feel a blush slowly crawl up her neck and cover her face. She feels beet red. But then the blood drains from her as she hears Sean move beside her. He rolls over, his arm falling across her stomach. A heavy breath escapes his lips.

"What's got you so worked up, mi cariΓ±o?" She takes in a deep breath before letting out a sigh. She drops her hands to her sides before turning her head to look at him. He has a stupid smile on his face, and there's still sleep in his eyes.

"Just some weird dreams," she says simply, eyes glancing anywhere except his eyes.

"Any about me?" Her body tenses for a moment before she scrunches her face in disgust. She sits up, Sean doing the same.

"Again, if I did, I'd be dead." She grabs her jeans and put them on, trying to force the blush from her face while doing so.

"Damn, your powers are hot but you are cold." His smile turns into a grin at his own joke. He grabs his jeans, doing the same as her. She glances at him before rolling her eyes.

"Whatever," she mumbles, buttoning her jeans. She crawls out the tent quickly, needing fresh air. She's given a moment to herself, letting out a deep breath before exhaling, slowing her loud heartbeat. Before she's able to put on her shoes, Hannah, a girl from Cassidy and Finn's group of drifters, walks by completely topless.

"Hey, bedhead. Had a good sleep?" She hears ruffling as Sean exits the tent.

"Yeah. I did, thanks," Cherry says, trying her hardest not to look at lower than Hannah's neck. There's a beat of awkward silence before Hannah ends it.

"Okay. I better hit the shower before they use all the water." She gives a nod before walking away. Another beat of silence happens.

"Was she...?" Sean's question lingers off.

"Yep." There's a beat of silence before Sean speaks.

"Haven't you seens girls boobs before when you change out for soccer? Why is it weird for you?" Her brows furrow before she looks over at him.

"Did you see your teammates' dicks when you changed for track?" A few seconds pass before he looks away with a look of discomfort and shame. "Did you, Sean-y boy?"

"No. It was a dumb question. I get it."

"You're finally getting some brains. Good job, mi corazΓ³n." She watches as his face reddens the smallest bit, making a grin form on her lips. "I'll get you a cup of coffee, cool?" She elbows him gently.

"Thanks, Cher. I'm going to go talk to Jacob." He does the same to her before they split off. As she gets closer to their makeshift kitchen, she grabs the attention of Penny and Ingrid.

"Coffee time, Cherry! Grab some and sit your ass down."

"I will, Penny. Just give me a second." She walks past them and to the coffee maker, pouring herself and Sean a mug. She starts a new pot as well before moving to sit at the table. She places Sean's mug down before gulping some of her's down.

"Damn, girl! I know you do this every morning but Jesus. Does your tongue not burn?" Penny questions. Cherry downed about half the mug before she had to stop. She sticks her tongue out in disgust as a quiet moan passes her lips.

"It's not that hot. It just tastes like fucking ass," she says, concentrating on not throwing up.

"Did you not drink coffee before?" Ingrid asks.

"No. I had a few energy drinks every now and then."

"You had those like everyday," Sean says, sitting down beside her.

"No I didn't. Only a few times."

"You always had extra in your bag." He tries to hide his smirk behind the mug as he takes a sip.

"Whatever love birds. I need y'all to listen in," Penny tells them. He leans on the table, the others doing the same, before he continues. "You hear that?"

"What?" Sean questions.

"The buzzing. A swarm is coming. They going to fuck us all up." The three glance at each other before looking back at Penny.

"You mean bugs?" Ingrid asks.

"Nah, you guys. Narcs. Stealth drones. All that shit. Wake up, you guys. Look up!"

"You saw them? When?" Cherry questions.

"Because vision, Cher-Bear. They be watching us, even now." Sean and Cherry look at each other with confusion before Ingrid turns the conversation around.

"That would be shit for me and Anders to lose the job. The cash is good for us to travel."

"Same here. Plus this is a steady gig. Don't wanna hit the road, yet. Daniel won't either," Sean admits.

"Don't puss out if the narcs show," Penny tells him. "Merrill takes care of his peeps. Yeah, he's a major dick, but fair. He always puts us to work every season. Some of us need this shit job. Besides, it's a good Kush gig. But not when they legalize this shit."

"Then you can work legal on the farm, right?" Ingrid asks.

"More controlled, though. Controlled doesn't always mean good," Cherry answers. She glances at her mug once more before downing the last of it.

"Yeah, but it's legal in Washington and it's worked out okay. It's probably going to be legal everywhere soon, anyhow." He looks over at Cherry, noticing a few stray drops of coffee escape her mouth and down her neck. As soon as she pulls the mug from her lips she lets out another disgusted moan. She wipes away most of the stray drops, but one is able to run down her neck and soak her shirt.

"Doesn't mean it's good. The government likes to screw us over." She lets out a final revolting moan before her attention turns elsewhere. "Have you guys seen Daniel?"

"Yeah, we haven't seen him this morning," Sean adds.

"Oh, yeah. I saw him walking with Finn. They were headed to the lake," Ingrid says, pointing in the direction they went.

"Thanks. We'll go see what he's up to." The two wave a goodbye at Penny and Ingrid before walking towards the lake. There's silence between the two for some time, Cherry listening to the sounds of nature while a thought nags at Sean. After a bit, he finally breaks.

"Is it just me or has Daniel been a bit meaner recently?" Sean asks. He kicks a rock in front of him, watching it tumble down the dirt trail. Cherry takes a moment to think.

"I mean, yeah I guess. But you know he doesn't like it here. This place sucks a bit, to be honest."

"What? Why don't you like it?"

"Dude, we smell like weed all the time," she deadpans. "This whole thing has kind of been a lot."

"I know. I'm sorry." Her face scrunches at his words.

"You act like it's your fault we're here." There's a moment of silence. She halts in her footsteps, Sean following. "Don't you start this again," she says, pointing a finger in his face. He raises his hands up, a bit of fear on his face.

"Well, I mean-"

"Nope!"

"But-"

"No!"

"Cher-"

"Shut up or I will-"

"What the fuck, man!" Finn's voice cuts into their conversation. "You're awesome! Come on, once again!" The two glance in the direction of the voice before looking back at each other.

"We're talking about this later."

"But-"

"Shush!" The beat of silence before she walks away, while Sean lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
