Chapter one - the truth
Third-person:

It was 7:15 am on a Friday today was the last day in school before the school would break up for summer break

"Ace!" Katie shouted banging on ace's door

"What do you want?" he shouted back

"It's almost time for school remember you need to drop me off" she shouted once again

"Alright alright hold on," Ace said slumping his way over to the door

Then he slowly opened it

"Remember not to tell anyone about my car got it?" The reason he said this was because recently he had stolen a car, no he didn't have a drivers license this is also the reason he didn't want anybody to know especially the cops

Katie wandered back into her room taking her pyjamas off and switching into a flowery white top with lacey sleeves and some small denim shorts

"Ready" she said adjusting herself in the mirror

"You done?" Ace asked through the door

"Almost," she says extending the T at the end

"Okay! Done!" she says stepping outside the door

"Okay let's go" Ace says running down the stairs Katie wasn't too far behind him

"Morning mommy" Katie says stepping into the kitchen grabbing a piece of toast

"Morning guys," she said whispering something into Ace's ear
"Make sure you don't get pulled over like last time"

"Il be fine" he says before planting a little kiss on his mothers cheek

"Right come on Kate" ace said walking out the door
He had given Katie this nickname because he thought calling her Katie sounded strange

They both hopped into the car
Then Ace turned on the radio

"More news about the missing child ray brower"

The second he heard those lines he quickly switched the channel

Then "mr sandman by the chordettes" started playing

"I love this song!" Katie spoke

"Oh sure Il keep it on then" Ace said

"Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream (bung, bung, bung, bung)

At this time ace had already arrived at Katie's school

"Il pick you up by here later?" Ace asked

"No no it's okay Il walk today," Katie said grabbing her backpack

She made her way over to her so-called 'friends'

"Morning," she said tiredly to her friends

They all pretty much ignored her except for her one friend

Sarah Brower, she was the twin sister of the recent missing child Ray brower

"Morning Kate" Sarah said gripping onto her backpack and bookbag

"Any news about your brother" Katie asked curiously

"Sadly no, well not yet! He's fine I know he is!" Sarah said hoping her brother was still alive

Katie knew Sarah's brother was definitely not okay he may have even been dead

"he'll be fine!" Katie said wrapping her hands around Sarah pulling her into a hug

Sarah and Katie both wandered off inside away from the rest of the group

They decided to stand outside their locker and wait for class to start

"I'm not going over there! You do it!" a shortish boy whispered to his friend

There were 4 boys they looked around Sarah and katie's age

"Oh Vern you pussy! Il ask them to move because I'm such a ladies man!" one of the boys said

Then he began walking over Sarah and Katie

"Hello ladies" he said approaching them

"Uh.. Hello..?" Katie said confused

"your standing in front of my friend Vern's locker" the boy said confidently

"Oh geez sorry we didn't know" Sarah says pulling Katie out of the way

Then Vern started walking over to teddy, Sarah and Katie

"I swear teddy!" vern says punching teddy in the shoulder

"Hey wait a minute aren't you brower!" Vern says pointing at Sarah

"Uh yeah she is..?" Katie says confusingly

"And your Merril!"  he says pointing at Katie

"Yeah... I am.. Why do you wanna know.." she said slowly

"Your brother is a complete assh-" and before Teddy could finish his sentence he was cut off by the bell

RING RING RING

Then the boys all walked off

"Thank God that's over with," Katie said opening her locker 

"I've never even seen them before, have you?" Katie asked Sarah curiously

"Ehh. I think I have once.. Maybe twice..?" Sarah says slowly

Then they both walked off to class

They both had different lessons
Sarah had mathematics and Katie had science

She opened the door being about 2 minutes late

"Sorry sir I'm late" she said going to sit down at her desk

"Dentention! Nobodys late to my lesson!" the teacher shouted

Katie just scoffed and sat down

Then a few moments later the boy Katie had met came strolling in through the door

He didn't even say anything he just went to sit down at his desk and then the teacher shouted

"You two Lachance?!?" the teacher asks

"Detention!" he shouted

"Wait wh-" Gordie went to say before getting cut off

"No chat back! Both of you will meet me here at lunch!" he shouted pointing at Gordie and Katie with a ruler

Time skip to detention

Gordie opened the doors to the science lab making his way over to the desk behind Katie

"Hey.." he whispered tapping on her back

"Huh..?" she said turning around

"Oh sorry I just thought maybe we should get to know each other since we both have detention" he said

"Oh oh yeah sure" she said back

Then the teacher left the room causing gordie to rush to the desk next to Katie

"Well anyway I'm gordie and your..?"
"Katie.. Katie Merrill" Katie said adding onto his sentence

"Ace's sister..?" he asked curiously

"Yeah.. Geez your probably gonna hate me now! And look I know my brothers an assho-" Katie started rambling on until she got cut off by Gordie saying

"Your brother doesn't define who you are!" he said resting his chin on his hand

"Ehh.. I guess your right!" she said slowly

Then the teacher came into the class again

"Detention is over you may leave" the teacher said

Then Katie and gordie rushed out of their seats and ran over to the door

"I guess I'll see you soon Lachance" Katie said smiling

"Yeah.. Yeah see you soon" he said starring into her eyes

"You okay...?" Katie asked trying to snap him back to reality

"Oh yeah sorry! But I'll see you soon" he said quickly opening the door
