; she and simon met at a ball after she was named the season's diamond by the queen. he took some interest in her, despite her being his friend's younger sister and his lack of interest in finding a wife and having children. he quickly realized his mistake in even associating with her, pushing her away after their several hangouts when he realized that he truly liked her. the way she stood for what she wanted and how she cared for her family.. she was taken aback by the behavior, and she was afraid to find out how it would affect her ability to find a husband as he had spent days seemingly courting her before cutting it off. she was angry with him, and after an argument in the gardens he confessed that he loved her but he couldn't let his father win. she was left standing alone, and anthony found her and questioned her, but she refused to answer. he had his suspicions, but no proof. eventually celia and simon met at another ball, the queen setting it up that they would dance. of course you couldn't ignore the queen's wishes, so they danced. after some talk they decided to meet in the courtyard unchaperoned, where he told her the rest of her story. she convinced him that his father's words and actions didn't matter, that he should lead the life he wants to lead. and with that, him finding her words to be so comforting as they were what he'd been wanting to hear for so long, they kissed. despite being unseen, he knew he had to marry her. so he proposed and nobody would ever know the secret. they fell more in love in the days and weeks leading up to the wedding, and after marrying, would happily have children.
