backstory
childhood ; growing up, brianna was spoiled. being the youngest she got whatever she wanted, and her parents were lenient with her. then melissa graduated when she was just 11. her parents stopped focusing on melissa as she had done everything her parents wanted her too. the pressure turned to spencer, but brianna got the chance to skip a grade and went into freshman year with her instead of 8th grade. that's when veronica and peter decided to focus on bri. after all, she got the chance to skip a grade. not spencer. it became extremely stressful for her at just a mere 12 years old. and when finals came around, she had a mental breakdown.
teenage years ; (tw: self harm) nobody knew what happened to brianna at the end of freshman year except for spencer and their parents. not even melissa knew as she had been gone at school. it turned out that brianna struggled with anxiety and depression over the severe struggle and was hurting herself. the extra stress she endured from finals sent her overboard and she stopped eating or sleeping for a week. after finding her passed out next to textbooks and school work in her room, she was sent off to an institute to "fix her" during the summer, then put into a far away private school where she was kept watch until she came back senior year. everyone, including spencer, thought she was sent to a fancy prep school to accommodate her intelligence. unfortunately for brianna, A somehow knew where she'd been the last two years. it was her big secret that A blackmailed her with, causing her more hell for her senior year, but shoving her into a group of friends she could relate to and could never regret getting to know. even with the other liars by her side, it was still rough. they didn't know her secret. luckily, caleb rivers came along and swooped her up when she almost hit a low again and he was the first to find out everything she lived with while she was away. while he couldn't help her with A, he was there to help with anything and everything else.

ian thomas ; ian was a creep. some time during a visit from melissa, she woke up at 14 years old to him standing in her room at 2am. it was creepy to say the least, and she never liked him at all.  she was glad to come back to him being gone (0/10 relationship)

; the two met when bri first arrived back in rosewood. they met at school before she even knew he dated hanna, but by the time she found out, she was already crushing on him. weeks later they went out and became a couple. then in season 4, they sorta split and be left out of town. but she went looking for him. they came back to rosewood and made things work, dealing with As bullshît. through the ups and downs, they survived and got married years after high school
