โ€œKuroo..โ€

โ€œHm?โ€

The ravenette turned around
at the tug on his sleeve just to
frown at the sight of his boyfriend.

Kenma stood leant against the fence,
supporting his weight and trying
to catch his breath.

โ€œYou're too fast..โ€

It was the 1st January and Bokuto
had asked the couple to accompany
him and Akaashi to the shrine.

The idea was great and Kuroo
had immediately agreed, not really
thinking that it'd be a problem for
his expecting boyfriend.

But he had totally forgotten that
stairs were Kenma's newest enemy.

His lung capacity was decreasing
thanks to his child's growth,
meaning that he was running
out of breath quite fast lately
and it had gotten more difficult
to walk stairs safely when he
couldn't see his feet anymore.

โ€œThere's a bench, let's take a small
break and sit down there, okay?โ€

Kuroo smiled as he took his
boyfriend's hand to support him
and motioned with his eyes to
the other couple to wait.

Of course Akaashi had understood
pretty fast that this was probably
more exhausting for Kenma than
for the rest of them and had tried his
best to explain it to his boyfriend.

โ€œKuroo, you should carry him!
He's already carrying your child!โ€

Bokuto noted when the other
couple reached them and sat
down beside them on the bench,
the blonde obviously looking more
exhausted than everyone else.

โ€œIf you're going to try, I'll scratch
your eyes out like a feral cat.โ€

โ€œChill, kitten.

As if I'd have dared to do that.
We're just going to take it slow,
no need to rush things today, right?โ€

Kuroo chuckled as he wrapped
his arm around his boyfriend when
Kenma rested his head against the
older's shoulder and closed his eyes.

โ€œAkaashi baby,
why are they so cute?!โ€

โ€œKou, you're too loud.
We're at a shrine, remember?โ€

It was surprising how patient
Akaashi was with his boyfriend
today but maybe it was just the
influence of the new year.

At least that was the most
reasonable explanation for the
fact the ravenette had only
chuckled and placed a soft peck
on his boyfriend's cheek.

โ€œSorry, baby.โ€

Bokuto pouted as he rested his
head on his loved one's shoulder
and hugged his arm.

โ€œYou feeling a little better?โ€

The ravenette turned to his
exhausted boyfriend and smiled
when Kenma blinked up at him
with big, feline eyes.

โ€œHm. How much more do
we have to walk?โ€

โ€œOnly these stairs and then the
path to the right. It's not that
far away anymore.โ€

โ€œUh.. My feet hurt.โ€

โ€œWe don't have to continue
our walk now. You tell us
when you're ready, hm?โ€

But Kenma only sighed.

He didn't want to annoy the
others just because he felt so
unbelievably lazy lately and
despite his need to stay on the
bench, cuddled up to his boyfriend,
it was slowly getting cold.

โ€œNo, let's go. So we can get
home faster, I'm hungry too.โ€

โ€œAlright, we can't let the mini

human bean starve, right?โ€

Kuroo chuckled as he got up and
reached both his hands out to help
his boyfriend get up.

โ€œYou're calling the baby
mini human bean?โ€

Akaashi asked curiously, making
Kenma blush and Kuroo laugh.

โ€œYeah. Kenma called the baby
that after his first sonogram
because yeah.. They really looked
like a mini human bean back then.
Obviously the baby looks more
like a baby now but the name
kinda stayed.โ€

The ravenette explained with
a grin while his smaller boyfriend
stayed close to his side and
held his hand tightly.

โ€œThat's cute.
Does the baby kick already?โ€

โ€œMhm.
But baby's not that active,
they're normally only awake
once or twice a day.โ€

Kenma smiled softly as he looked
down at his baby bump and
placed his hand on it.

โ€œAkaashi! Did you hear that?
I want one too, you'd look
so cute pregnant!โ€

โ€œNo way, sorry.
We'll have that talk again
when I'm 28.โ€

โ€œBut that's..
still so long!โ€

Bokuto whined as he clinged
onto his boyfriend, making Keiji
roll his eyes and Kuroo snort.

They eventually reached the
shrine after what felt like a
thousand more stairs to Kenma
but once they stood in front of it,

a feeling of true thankfulness
came over the blonde.

Many changes were bound
to happen this year.

They'd have a baby in less
than five months.

Kuroo would graduate.

The spring tournament was
getting closer too, not that the
blonde was truly interested in
it anymore now that there were
much bigger things bound to
happen in April.

The chance of him pushing a
kid out while the rest of the team
was playing on the court was much
bigger than he wanted to admit.

Maybe Shouyou would visit him
to see the baby if they managed
to come to Tokyo.

He knew that he shouldn't wish
for anything at the shrine visit
but he couldn't help but hope
that the gods would be on his side
for all the upcoming challenges.

The closer he got to his due date,
the more he actually thought
about giving birth.

It was a scary thought.

When just walking a few stairs
up to a shrine already made him
so exhausted, how should he manage
to have his baby without passing
out and away midway?

Plus he thought that their mini
human bean was already quite big,
knowing that their baby had 17
more weeks to get even bigger
made him nervous.

Kenma sighed as he closed his
eyes and clapped his hands twice,
a soft smile growing on his face when
he felt his little one shift slightly.

This year was going to be turbulent.

But it was going to be a good one too.

He knew that the moment he felt his
boyfriend intertwine their hands.
