“Are you nervous?”

“A little.
I don't know what to
expect this time.”

Kenma sighed as he looked down
but Kuroo gently lifted his chin
up again to give him a soft smile.

“I'm nervous too.
But I'm excited to see the baby and
that outweighs my nervousness.
I wonder how much they've
grown in two weeks.”

The ravenette chuckled before
he pressed a soft kiss on his
boyfriend's forehead.

They were standing in front of
the clinic and just about to
have Kenma's next checkup.

Normally the check ups were
only once a month but since
the blonde's last appointment
couldn't be considered as a
proper gestational check up,
this was his first one.

The nurse on the phone had
also mentioned something about
a maternity pass Kenma didn't
have yet because last time he
hadn't known if he'd actually
stay pregnant.

“I think the baby grew
as much as my tummy did.”

Kenma pouted,
remembering how he had
checked his body in the full
length mirror in their bathroom
this morning just to notice that
he had definitely started
showing now, not only
when lying down.

That meant telling everyone who
needed to know as fast as possible
now before they'd get suspicious.

And it also meant getting comfortable
in his new position as fast as possible.

“Come on, let's not keep
the doctor waiting, hm?”

Kenma was truly happy Kuroo
had insisted on tagging along.

This way he didn't have to ask his
mother again because he was not
comfortable going alone but it also
showed the blonde that his boyfriend
stayed true to his words.

Not that he had expected anything

else, it was just a great reassurance.

“Oh, a different companion today?”

Dr Sato smiled at his patient as
he bowed slightly when the couple
entered the examination room,
Kenma's hand tightly
intertwined with Kuroo's.

Physical reassurance overpowered
his dislike for showing affection in
front of people, that was new.

But Tetsuro didn't complain.

“That's my boyfriend.
And he's uh.. the baby's dad.”

“Hello, my name is Kuroo Tetsuro.
It's nice to meet you.”

The ravenette bowed to
greet the doctor.

“The pleasure is mine.
I'm Dr Sato and I'm here to
answer every question and
make sure that you'll hold a
happy, little baby in your
arms in a few months.”

He smiled as he gestured for
the couple to have a seat so he
could start with his standard
questions and fill out the
maternity pass.

“So, how have your last two
weeks been? Did the nausea
medication work?”

Kenma nodded and squeezed
his boyfriend's hand to give
himself the needed confidence
to answer properly.

His mom wasn't there this time
to talk for him and if he was really
going to be a parent, he might as well
get over this stupid anxiety as well.

“Yeah, although certain foods
just don't want to stay at all.
With or without the pill.”

“Can you give me an example?”

“My stomach is sensitive to all kinds
of pork, no matter how it's served.”

“Hm, that's interesting.
But nothing to worry about.
I'd just recommend avoiding pork
and focusing on a healthy diet with
chicken and fish. Important is that
you make sure meat and fish are
always properly cooked. No raw meat
or fish as long as you're pregnant.”

Again the blonde only nodded while
Kuroo noted something on a small
notebook he had brought.

Apparently he was even
taking notes, sweet boy.

“But the dizziness and

headaches are better now?”

“Yeah, drinking a lot of water
helps and the citrus refreshing
towels are really a lifesaver.”

“Ah, that's good to hear.
Any new symptoms you've
noticed recently?”

“Hm.. Not really.”

“Then I hope it stays that way.
You're about to enter your second
trimester, things should be a bit
easier from there on. Many people
say the second trimester is the best
one because your hormones start to
settle, meaning less uncomfortable
symptoms and it's not as exhausting
as the third trimester. New symptoms
will be awaiting you there.”

Dr Sato chuckled as he pushed a
small pass over to Kenma.

“That's your maternity pass.
We'll keep it updated with every
of your visits here and it's
extremely important that you
always carry it with you in
case something happens.
If you need medical assistance
and are not able to talk about
your condition because of
unconsciousness for example,
the paramedics will find this pass
and exactly know what to do so
they don't give you any medication
that could harm your baby. Okay?”

“Yes. Thank you.”

“Alright, then let's have a look
at the little one. Have you seen
the baby already?”

Dr Sato asked Kuroo,
making the older's eyes lit up.

“Yeah, Kenma showed
me the sonogram.”

“That's great.
And I can guarantee you that
your baby has already grown
quite a bit again.”

Kenma hesitantly let go of his
boyfriend's hand so he could lay
down and lift his hoodie up just
like last time and scrunched his
nose up cutely when Dr Sato
smeared a bit of the cold,

blue gel on his tummy.

But Tetsuro's eyes were completely
fixed on the tiny baby bump.

It wasn't totally obvious,
like anyone could tell Kenma
was definitely pregnant.

But the tiny bump was there and
Kuroo wanted to melt on the spot.

He snapped out of it when his
boyfriend looked at him with big
eyes and reached his small hand out,
waiting for the ravenette
to hold it again.

And Kuroo couldn't help but smile
as he intertwined their hands
again and gave the younger's
a soft squeeze.

“Ah. There's the little baby
I've been looking for.”

The couple immediately diverted
their gazes to the monitor where
their mini human bean was visible,
obviously having a good time in their
papa's tummy as they kicked lightly.

“Someone's pretty active today.”

Dr Sato chuckled as he pressed a
few buttons under the monitor
to measure the baby's size.

“Do you feel that?”

Kuroo asked as he watched their
baby in awe, his gaze so fixed on
the monitor that Kenma was sure
he wouldn't even notice if someone
would drop a bomb behind them.

“No, not yet.”

“That's normal,
your little one is barely 6cm
tall at the moment. But in a few
weeks you'll definitely be able
to feel these little kicks.”

And just when Kuroo thought
his heart couldn't take any more,
Dr Sato pressed another button.

Kenma smiled softly at his boyfriend
when Kuroo looked at him with
teary eyes as the sound of their
child's heartbeat filled the
examination room.

So strong and rhythmic, so perfect.

Knowing that Kenma was pregnant
was one thing, seeing the sonogram
had helped too but standing here,
watching their baby move on the
monitor while he could listen to their
heartbeat made it all feel so real.

They were really going to be
parents to that mini human bean.

And Kenma could only squeeze
Kuroo's hand again as he smiled
at him when the ravenette
wiped his tears.

“You're so amazing, kitten.”
