It was already dark outside
when Kuroo rang the doorbell the
following evening just like he had
promised and just for a short moment
Kenma considered staying in his
warm blanket cocoon so he wouldn't
have to face the situation he had
forced himself into just the day prior.

But his boyfriend was right there,
waiting for him downstairs and
most likely demanding answers
for all the strange things that had
happened the past few days.

And while part of him was
trembling with fear of how this
whole conversation would go,
he couldn't deny the fact that
he really missed Kuroo.

If things would turn out to his favor,
Kenma would not only have
someone by his side who could
support him too, he'd also finally
be able to start accepting his
situation step by step.

โ€œHi there, kitten.โ€

The ravenette gifted his loved one
his dorky smile when Kenma opened
the door, still wrapped in his blanket.

And he happily accepted the
forehead kiss before he fiddled one
hand out of his blanket to grab
the older's hand.

โ€œAre your parents home?โ€

โ€œMhm.
They're in the living room.โ€

His parents also knew he'd tell
Kuroo today, Kenma would have
never chosen a day where his
mother wouldn't be home to
de-escalate things if needed.

Also just knowing that she was there
took a lot of nervousness from him.

โ€œCan I say hi first?โ€

โ€œUh, they know you're coming over.
And I think it'd be better if
we go upstairs first.โ€

โ€œOkay?โ€

But Kuroo didn't get the chance
to ask further questions because
his boyfriend pulled him upstairs.

It was the same room he had visited
so often over all these years.

Playing together and having
sleepovers when both had only
been in kindergarten, doing
homework together and even
having their first kiss here after
they had become a couple.

This room held memories
for the both of them.

And still the atmosphere of the
room felt so strange when Kenma
pulled him inside this time just to

flee to his bed, his ultimate safe space.

Not even a second later,
the blonde had already bundled
himself up completely again, only
his feline eyes and the eyes of his
cat plushie peeking out since he
had half of his face pressed
against the soft fur.

โ€œI know autumn is always
bundle season for you but..
You're worrying me.โ€

The younger's behavior just
continued to get even stranger
and Kuroo really didn't know
how to handle it.

โ€œYeah. I know.
I'm sorry for that.โ€

Kenma muttered softly as he
looked down and hugged his
plushie a bit tighter.

โ€œI.. I'll explain it to you but you..
You need to promise me something.โ€

โ€œOkay?โ€

โ€œI'm being serious.
Please promise me that..

If you get angry, please leave.โ€

It was obvious how much his
boyfriend's words, especially
without any proper context,
hurt him.

But Kenma knew that he wouldn't
be able to endure getting yelled at
by the person he loved.

It'd only make him believe
all those dark thoughts in
his head even more.

โ€œI understand that it'll be a shock
for you. It was for me too.
And so it's totally okay if you're
confused, upset, angry..
But please don't let it out on me.
I'm hurting enough.โ€

Alone saying it out loud made the
pudding head's eyes sting again.

He had been through enough the
past few days, it was up to Kuroo to
give him the last push that'd send
him off the edge.

โ€œKenma.
You're really scaring me,
what's going on?
What happened that made
you think I'd be yelling at you?โ€

โ€œJust promise me.โ€

Tetsuro hated to see his boyfriend cry.

And he had definitely cried way too
much lately, the ravenette wouldn't
be another reason for those beautiful
amber eyes to glisten with tears again.

โ€œI promise you.
And I hope you know
that I love you.โ€

Kenma had never doubted that.

But could he love the new Kenma too?

With a little addition?

Could he love their child too?

โ€œSo.. Do you remember the
last week of August? Right before
school started again?โ€

โ€œOf course, how could I forget it?โ€

Normally Kuroo would have put
on his smug smirk alone at the
thought of their nights together
but Kenma appreciated it that
his boyfriend had realized that
this situation was very serious.

โ€œWe made a mistake.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€

The ravenette frowned,
wondering if Kenma regretted it.

Well, maybe he did.

But because of different reasons
than what Kuroo thought.

Tetsuro tilted his head slightly
when his boyfriend partly gave
up his blanket cocoon so he could
grab the older's big hand before he
grabbed something from inside
his hoodie pocket.

And Kuroo could only gasp when
Kenma placed the two plastic
items in his hand.

The two positive pregnancy tests.

Just like when he had told his parents,
the blonde tried so hard to catch up
on the slightest hint of what might be
going on inside his boyfriend's head.

But it seemed like just seeing the

tests had made every existing
emotion vanish from
the older's body.

He didn't look angry or upset,
he just didn't look like he was
feeling anything at all.

He couldn't tear his gaze away
from the positive tests either so
Kenma was pretty sure he hadn't
even fully processed it yet.

Just like him.

Only knowing it didn't automatically
make it feel more real.

โ€œYou're.. pregnant?โ€

โ€œYeah. Seems like it.โ€

โ€œSo that's why you were..
So sick, right?โ€

โ€œMhm.โ€

The blonde nodded softly as he
hugged his cat plushie tighter again,
his gaze immediately dropping
when Kuroo looked up at him.

โ€œDo your parents know?โ€

Again, Kenma only nodded.

โ€œThey were shocked too, obviously.
But it's not like this was planned, so..โ€

โ€œDo you want to keep it?
The baby?โ€

But when Kenma hesitantly looked
up at his boyfriend with teary eyes,
Kuroo decided that he could care
less about an answer at the moment.

Kenma needed him now,
no matter how the future
would develop.

So he only shuffled a bit closer so
he could pull his boyfriend bundle
on his lap to hug the blonde tightly.

And right there the younger boy
could feel his walls crumble that he
had tried so hard to keep up the past
weeks in order to protect himself.

His fists clenched tightly onto the
older's hoodie as he cried into his
shoulder, not caring that he was most
likely soaking the fabric completely.

Because Kuroo was here
and holding him.

He knew it now.

And he hadn't left.
